Torn's jail has long been known as the laughing stock of the city, with inmates often only finding themselves in jail for seconds, whilst others are frantically trying to bust or bail them out.
People may be wondering, why are people frantically bailing and busting inmates? Well, there are merits for bailing people out of jail, and others are trying to rack up thousands of busts to become a suitable candidate for the faction organized crime, Political Assassination.
A number of changes brought to Torn's jail system have made it harder to escape, whether it's from a bust or bail. Criminals caught have been landed with much longer jail sentences, which have made busting much harder, as criminals with longer jail times find themselves in max security prisons. This also means bail fees have rocketed with prisoners serving longer sentences, and has found citizens scrambling all over the city for a Lawyers Business Card.
There was also a significant change to the cost to a player for attempting a bust, previously it would cost a maximum of 10 energy to attempt a bust, which could be reduced to as low as 5 energy per bust with the faction special Pertinent. But recent changes now mean it costs nerve to attempt a bust, and Pertinent can increase a players busting skill up to 50%.
The update resulted in a significant change in demand for Lawyer Business Cards, prior to the update they were trading for only a few thousand dollars each, now they trade for in excess of three million dollars per card. These coveted cards can now be used infinite times, allowing you to bail yourself out of jail for the normal bail cost.
Along with the increase in price of Lawyer Business Cards, Society and Legal Authorities Group (SLAG) stock price has increased $20, or 10%, since the update was released in early September. It is believed that the increase in jail activity has led to a rise in demand for legal advice, driving up demand for the stock which entitles benefit holders to receive lawyer business cards.
There have been several tweaks since the update from the mayor, Chedburn, to fine tune the new jail system. There has been plenty of debate in the General Discussion forum, so why not post your own thoughts or experience with the new jail system?
