Subversive Alliance, commonly referred to as SA, are next on my hit list.
Subversive Alliance is another faction that formed from a merger between two factions, Viking Legacy and CBB. Viking Legacy was a Scandinavian only faction, and sister faction to HT. In 2008, Viking Legacy and CBB merged and voted for a new name. "Subversive" to represent their new found strength, "Alliance" to represent the joining of the two factions. Daffy_D [110530] led SA and Htr [89581], SA's current leader, pays tribute to her:
"SA would not be where it is today without the effort she put in to the faction."
However, current leaders are just as important as old ones, and Htr [89581], 007 [370359] and Midknight [332505] have also done a great deal for the faction. The faction was built from 30 or so members to what it is today.
Interestingly and unlike most factions, who opt to make use of committees and IRC to discuss faction business, SA uses the skype to communicate.
Unlike are last two factions that formed through mergers, FTW and MnC, SA didn't have to climb the ranks. Under the new system SA were ranked #1, and kept it till JFK took it from them. SA have beaten JFK, however, a more recent war between the two may be needed to confirm who is number 1. Evolution, before they largely disbanded, were their fiercest rivals at one point, but they managed to break them a few times. In the past, one of SA's biggest wars was with Destructive Anomaly, at one point their strong rivals. At the beginning of 2012, DA, SA and JFK 2.0 took part in a three way war. As the war raged on it ended up in a straight fight between DA and SA, with the 2 wars with JFK 2.0 ending. DA had the numbers, SA had the stats. The war was one of the biggest this reporter has seen in the new warring system at the time. DA were able to make up ground in the night and after two long weeks the deadlock was broken - DA were victorious. A few numbers from the war:
As mentioned in Calculated's bio, their sub faction was hit by a dirty bomb that failed to destroy them. Multiply that by three and you will be left with what happened to SA. In the space of two days, SA were dirty bombed three times by Mischi3vo, who SA say they mugged for billions. Twice SA hit zero, and twice they saved themselves from being wiped out. They got many people offering to help them, even their top competitors offered a helping hand.
"We appreciated their support."

A total of 41,730 respect was lost by SA, and upwards of $40,000,000,000 lost by the bomber, you decide who came out worse. They also had a big problem when one of their members account was hacked and the faction bank emptied. The account was put in federal jail and later released. The original owner of the account returned every penny, a fine example of how the game should be played. The faction also raised $16,000,000,000 from donations by members to buy an oil rig to fund the faction.
Subversive Alliance and Merc Inc merged on 25/08/2014. No terms, just two factions that saw they could be stronger together.
Many may be interested in how it came to be that Torn's strongest player, BodyBagger [99177], joined Subversive Alliance. According to Htr, both SA and BodyBagger wanted to beat JFK and, in BodyBagger's eyes, SA were the closest to achieving this, so it was the obvious choice to join them.

- Bonus respect: Congratulations, you have claimed victory over Subversive Alliance, the war is now over. You have received a boost of 78,125 bonus respect.
