Over the years of Torn there have been few factions that people can say were the outright strongest faction at the time. There is normally a mix of factions fighting for top spot, which isn't a bad thing. In the past, the likes of BH, SUN, Inquest, Plague Family, Secret Service, PT-Family and 39th Street Killers have claimed, or were close to claiming, top spot for a time. However, there are even fewer factions that can say they have shown they are class above the rest for a long period of time, perhaps only two. Some would say HT dominated the faction scene in the early faction days, and now Just Fer Killin (JFK).
Outkasts was where JFK stemmed from. In 2007, Outkasts were a mid-sized faction that didn't have the strongest players. Lacking the big stats and having a fair few members, made them a big target for larger factions to war and extort. So it wasn't long before Outkasts members came to the realisation that having a faction with only a few members would be a lot safer. This is because with fewer members it would be harder for larger faction to threaten to destroy them. At this point a few close friends from Outkasts decided to create a new faction with fewer members, and thus the faction with the ID: 3241 was born.
The ID: 3241 is the ID of the JFK we see today. When the faction was created, it only had around six members, but that number soon grew to around 18-20. At this point JFK were not a menacing sight, but they were still being noticed and began making a name for themselves. It was after a merge with a faction called Vae Victis that they were able to start throwing their weight around. Vae Victis was a young but well established faction with a good member base - fifty plus members. Both factions had friend in the other, and as Torn and its warring system was changing, it was the right time to make such a move.
In the old days, Pre-merge, JFK was led by Nota [68062] and HatEreD [41581]. Post-merge to present JFK is led by Z_junior [247674], DrGonzo [59922] and Pand0ra [132296].
JFK sort of split into two factions, JFK and JFK 2.0, but they were still one family. JFK 2.0 moved back into JFK eventually, and those needing a little break from Torn moved to Just Fer Retirement (JFR), previously JFK 2.0. Nothing as such spurred the merge, but the current warring system meant that factions needed to make a large number of attacks in a small time frame, so it made more sense to have the numbers in one faction, rather than spread over two.
In the past JFK's biggest rivals have been HT, PT-Family and 39th street Killers. JFK took a very different approach to warring than most other factions. In the early days of faction warring, the stronger factions would extort pretty much every faction that tried to get a foot hold in the city, not that there was anything wrong with them doing so. However, according to Nota JFK's warring policy was to only war factions that they believed deserved it, not to extort or beat on newcomers.
"If you did enter into our war base as a filler, we tried to get the war over with as soon as possible and with the least amount of discomfort to the innocent targets that ended up there."
Nota [68062]
Wars that stood out for JFK were their two year long war with PT-Family, which involved many of PT's sub factions. Then there was the war with 39th Street killers, when 39th brought in some of Torn's strongest players in an attempt to over throw JFK. And a bunch of titan clashes with HT. When questioned about who their main rivals are at present, JFK said:
"In modern days, its hard to keep an actual rivalry when wars end in a matter of hours, or in rare cases a couple of days. When you come from a setting that made you war a faction for two straight years, its kind of hard to compare any 2-day war to those days."
We will not go into who the long debate about who is the top faction at the moment, but MnC and SA would be contenders for sure.
Looking at some of JFK's recent endeavors. WolfPack decided to try and break the record of the longest chain, which was around 6000-7000 attacks long, but don't quote me on that figure. They surpassed the best chain at the time, and everyone was congratulating them and urging them on, as they reached a very impressive 10,819 best chain, a great achievement make no mistake. Shortly after, other factions made an attempt to beat WolfPacks bench mark - PT-Family succeed with a best chain of 14,567. Shortly after other faction attempted it, JFK had a go and posted a best chain of 30,000! That is more than double the second best chain. Not only did they blow the other best chains out of the water, but they did it whilst declaring on all of the top 10 HoF factions. As mentioned in Milk and Cookies bio, there were factions that gave them a run for their money, but did so while JFK were not getting the bonus hits, and they still managed to drag the wars out for a considerable time. More recently, MnC and JFK went to war, and JFK came out victorious. MnC had a few more members, but JFK had a few more stat beasts - so evens out....a little.
It can, and will be, argued about who the top dog in Torn is today and in the future. JFK could lay claim to top spot after the HT era, and how long they will stay at top spot, if they are indeed still the top faction, and who will be the next faction to take the throne, only time will tell.
