Faction Bio

Trigger Happy, along with The UnLeashed Sykoz, Memento Mori and Calculated, was another aggressive new generation faction that emerged a few years ago. Core, Trigger Happy's leader and founder, has since left the game, making comments difficult to obtain (due to an indefinite sentence in Federal jail).

Core [1579950] had the idea to build a faction completely from scratch and work at building capabilities until the team was established in the Hall of Fame, his teams journey began on 15 June, 2013.

The new gang started with just a few strong members and a number of new players that were learning the ins and outs of Torn. Trigger Happy quickly progressed, built up an effective member base and demonstrated an impressive talent for chaining (much to other factions' dismay).

Why the name Trigger Happy was chosen isn't completely understood, but we can easily imagine, given their motto, "Pull the trigger, let the world slip through", that using weapons made them thoroughly happy.

Before we go on to talk about a major war that Trigger Happy was involved in, we first need to quickly talk of their rivals in that confrontation: Helvete.

Helvete were founded by HelvetesTITTS (aka. HT-Tittentei) and they had a small but rather strong and active member base, which meant, if focused, they could give a lot of factions a solid run for their money. Helvete always stuck to their motto of "never backing out of a war", and as a tight group of teammates, they played and enjoyed the game together.

I mentioned the darker side of warring in The Unleashed Skyoz biography, where one faction kicked all of its members when the group were nearing defeat. When Trigger Happy went to war with Helvete, the situation was (more or less) replicated as the war escalated and both factions took on guest chainers. As happens in these situations, when seeing the other side taking more guests, the other faction retaliated with additional guests.

At the time Trigger Happy declared on Helvete, total membership across both factions was approximately 75, with Trigger Happy outnumbering Helvete 3 to 1. Helvete were said to have brought in a few guests, most notably Berok [491422], a good friend of the faction. Helvete were creeping towards victory when the guest roster got out of hand. Both sides brought in many guests, including some of the strongest players in Torn; the member count then transitioned to around 65 to 35 in Trigger Happy's favour and the war swung back and forth until Helvete started pulling ahead.

At this point, Core kicked all of the (current) Trigger Happy members, apart from Bodybagger, to stop Helvete from progressing to what seemed like certain victory. Trigger Happy then began to gain ground, so Helvete responded in kind by using the same tactitcs. Helvetes-Sticky [1318199] kicked all of Helvete members and flew out of Torn so that the war would time out and thus end the saga with a draw, a decision Sticky would live to regret.

At this point, the war gets particularly interesting. Helvetes-Sticky made the mistake of leaving his faction on low respect, so low that a dirty bomb had the potential to drop the factions respect to zero and destroy it. Core and Tezwar [1034523] split the cost of a Dirty Bomb, which they bought from a bazaar (a bit before mugging the seller dry) and dropped the bomb on Helvete. Nearly 10,700 respect was lost, Helvete dropped to zero respect, and with the leader spending time on the beach abroad, an hour passed and Helvete was destroyed.

Such a decision that led the conflict down the path that it took probably didn't acknowledge the views of all of the members. Most likely, the action was taken by a small number (maybe even one) of members. Many players predicted that the TH-Helv saga would be the start of Trigger Happy's downfall. Despite the number of ex-members rejoining, the faction was left weaker than before the war.

Core did continue to run Trigger Happy, his activity dwindling and he became more and more inactive. In October 2014 he was put in Federal jail. There are a few stories floating around as to why he got a 999 day sentence; similarly, there are rumours that say he was involved in account sharing. There was an alleged argument with his partner in crime about a debt, so Core logged on to his partners account and sold all the items. There are other stories that say Core was using illegal mugging scripts and, with just over $156 billion mugged, those comments may not be totally far-fetched.

Of course, some say Core got himself put into jail on purpose. These are all just theories - who knows if we will ever discover the truth. But either way, his actions shouldn't overshadow the success that Trigger Happy achieved.

Helvete members, on the other hand, have resurrected the Helvete name in a new faction and boosted that team back into one of the top factions in Torn relative to the respect gained.
