Dog Tag Comp Rocked By Duke Beef

As 2016's Dog Tag competition rapidly draws to a close, the current leader sits on 20,130 points with 1,052 tags, holding a lead of 4670 points over their nearest challenger on 15,460. 14,000 points are good enough for 3rd place at the moment, and 6,192 points will sneak you into the top 25, but whether this will be enough come Friday 2pm is difficult to say.

Especially since Duke's latest tantrum.

Everything seemed to be running smoothly of late, with established players racking up tags and a few youngsters threatening to shake up the old guard. But the entire competition was thrown into turmoil on Friday, as the beef between Duke and Bodybagger once more reared its ugly, vein-straddled head.

For those who aren't aware, Duke began assaulting members of Bodybagger's Oil Crew in retaliation for his excessive muggings. The Duke is known to enjoy the occasional dust-up with a stranger, but when Bodybagger abused this privilege he struck back hard.

An agreement was reportedly made between the two beefcakes whereby Bodybagger was allowed to attack Duke twice a week, and in return, he would acquire the occasional secret mission to line his quadricep-strained pockets. However, upon the commencement of Dog Tags 2016 Bodybagger defied this agreement, attacking Duke several times per day. And as you can see from the post below, Duke did not take it well.

Duke's early-morning rant contained a $500million bounty for whoever holds Bodybagger's tag at the end of the 2016 competition, but such an intervention by last year's 17th place man has raised many questions in the minds of Torn's citizens.

How Will This Affect Dog Tags 2016?

At the moment, Duke is thought to be on over 14,000 points placing him in 3rd position, but his recent rant indicates that victory is not the Duke's goal. My sources give me reason to believe that Duke may voluntarily vacate himself of acquired tags before the competition is up, but when this will occur has not yet been discerned.

Is Bodybagger's Tag Obtainable?

Shortly after Duke's bounty was posted, citizen Wall_St attempted to start a Bodybagger group attack thread in the forums, but precious few seemed keen to take up the challenge. Taking Bodybagger's tag would require several of the highest level players to attack him at once, or a horde of weaker ones headed by a high-level individual, and for this situation to be repeated many times over. It is likely only the strongest factions will attempt such an endeavour, and Harley calculated that they would need people with 22.6 billion in strength alone to even consider such an assault.

Is the $500million Faction Fee True?

There have been some reports of Duke negotiating with factions on this matter, offering to pay them for assisting in Bodybagger's demise. It is thought he offered a $500million fee for this service, potentially more, so is there really a billion dollars on offer to destroy just one man?

Is it a scam?

Duke has notoriously scammed players before, raking in nearly 500 million after falsely claiming he has access to players' anonymous messages. Is it a coincidence that these fees almost match? Probably, but it is worth noting that since his famous ruse Duke has kept to his word in his promise to pay $5million per hit for attacks on Bodybagger's Oil Rig crew.

Is this true?

Has Bodybagger's tag been taken already?

No. That's a stupid question. You are an idiot.

Has Duke's tag been taken?

No. It is safely entangled in Duke's matted carpet of musty, oil-sodden chest hair.

Is Bodybagger in on the whole thing?

This is eminently possible. Bodybagger is yet to respond publically to this bounty, and there's a chance his previous displays of annoyance, frustration and petulance via the forums were all an act of misdirection. So what would he stand to gain from such a venture? An increase in defends, a secret cash payment and Duke's favour have all been suggested, but as yet no proof exists that this beef is actually made of soybeans.

Is Bodybagger Retaliating?

Yes. And he may be paying for the privilege. In recent days it has come to my attention that Bodybagger's attacks upon Duke have increased, but rather than partnering with groups of weaker players as he used to, Bodybagger is now teaming up with the likes of CaptainPowder, NotGuilty, Ash, Stretch, __monk__ and DeWa69 to defeat Duke and take his tags. Having spoken to one of these players anonymously, it appears Bodybagger is paying $50million per attack for this assistance.

Is Duke acting against the laws of Torn?

It may seem silly in a place like Torn to complain about what is essentially an extension of the bounty system, but, if Duke's actions have been sanctioned by the powers that be then this sets a worrying precedent. It was reported by Philistine that Duke's actions are permitted by those at the highest level, but no evidence has yet been offered for this assertion. And even if this is true, what happens if they decide Duke has gone too far? Will he receive an over the knee spanking? If Mr Calabrese has his way, I'd say yes. As long as it's not from Collete. She'd leave a mark.

Will Bodybagger get 500 million if he ends the competition with his own tag?

No. Duke is many things; an idiot, a simpleton, immature, dishonest, bigoted, offensive, cowardly, aggressive, lewd, gratuitous, Italian, petty, contradictory, overweight, ignorant, balding, a bully, but he is by no means fair.

Or Italian, actually.

Will Bodybagger attempt to scam Duke?

Conceivably, Bodybagger could work in conjunction with his faction or other strong players to deliberately lose his own tag and claim the $500million fee, but this would affect his standing in both the competition and Torn City. Duke's network of spies also means it's likely he'd uncover such a plan well before its execution, and with that in mind, the paltry reward of $500million means it's really not worth the effort.

How Long Before Dekloren Has A Meltdown?

Minus three days.

Will anyone take Duke's Tag?

Big__Al counter-offered $500million for Duke's tag the day after Calabrese's bounty was placed, and this is despite him stating earlier that such a sum was not enough of a lure for such a difficult feat. Big__Al valued Bodybagger's tag at $50billion, but since this is a man who famously nuked his poker partner over a minor dispute, his definition of fair and just cannot be taken seriously.

Does Chedburn Have a Dog Tag?

If he really is responsible for Duke, will Chedburn do the right thing and offer his own corpse as a sacrifice to appease the disgruntled masses? We can only wait and see.

How will this end?

Dramatically.
