Citizens residing on the outskirts of Torn City have been urged by authorities to stock up on supplies and prepare to dig in, as the recent turf war involving over 200 factions threatens to spill over into the Shopping District and beyond.
Since the beginning of February, a wave of brutal gang violence has erupted on the outer limits of Torn's borders, with these skirmishes prompted entirely by an outrageously irresponsible announcement from Chedburn.
On the 31st of January Chedburn, speaking on behalf of Torn Council, declared that blocks of city land could now be claimed by individual factions of 10 or more people. This piece of legislation was drawn up to allow groups of citizens the option of legal property ownership, but unfortunately, the way the statement was worded means that almost any part of the city can now be invaded and claimed whether or not you owned it beforehand.
This devastating oversight has effectively given factions carte blanche to carve up Torn like a roasted pig, and so far the authorities have been unable to prevent their incursion further into the city. Until now this territorial war has been limited to Sector 7 - a region as barren and worthless as the average forum post by Lisa96. But tomorrow, on the 14th of February 14.00 TCT, the legislation becomes active in Sector 6; and with this comes the prospect of Torn's permanent and irredeemable division.

Many in the bubble of city centre life may not have heard of this forthcoming apocalypse, but they soon will, with areas surrounding the Torn City College, the Travel Agency and the Church all under threat from various competing factions. The Church in particular faces extreme peril, with Flux Faction sat to the west in blocks YSF, ZGG and VSF; and the Jux HQ faction of Bogie and Harley holding three blocks to its immediate north at the time of writing.
Whether either of these factions will jump at the chance to surround and claim some sort of ownership over Father Williams' Church is not yet known, but it seems almost inevitable that at some point - considering the reputation of these two factions - the graves of the innocent will inevitably be desecrated.
But while prestige locations like this are the preserve of the experienced, those involved in weaker factions have been forced to settle for less glamorous surroundings in the form of the dump. Like flies around effluence, factions such as Desert Eagle, Motley Crew and Equalizer 2-JD currently hold positions around our city's landfill site, with their ranks anticipating the stench of defeat as a welcome alternative to the putrid odour of apparent victory.
These are just two of the battlegrounds which currently endure thanks to Torn Council's unfathomable decision to let this situation unfold without response. And, with a total of 4154 territories on offer across the entire city, it seems this suburban land-grab is just the start, with each and every faction eagerly salivating at the prospect of owning territory at the heart of Torn City.
Of Sector 7's 756 districts there were only 215 unoccupied as of 11.30AM today. Tomorrow's Sector 6 release will see 714 districts offered up for the taking, with Sectors 5, 4, 3 and 2 holding 781, 699, 495, 387 respectively. These new regions are expected to be overwhelmed at two-week intervals according to the dates Torn's new legislation applies, culminating on the 25th April, when all hell will break loose as various factions quarrel to claim the ultimate prize - one of Sector 1's 322 high-value territories.
At the aforementioned brunch-proximous time of inquiry, Sector 7 lay in the hands of 233 factions; with no one group holding any more than three due to a cap imposed by the authorities. This restriction - the council's only saving grace - was originally designed to prevent the city's richest factions from acquiring huge portions of the city without challenge. Thankfully, this clause has allowed some form of diversity to take hold, but this limit is scheduled for an increase to five come 14.00PM tomorrow, and further extensions are expected as the rest of the Sectors are released.
My powers of mathematical deduction have led me to conclude that the maximum number of acquired territories could, therefore, increase to fifteen by the time the city centre falls under faction control. And, if such an event were to pass, it would most likely facilitate the inevitable march of Torn's strongest factions straight to the heart of our fair city.
With more to be gained by factions holding dense areas close to the centre of the city - especially within the Financial District, where daily respect of 225 can be acquired - it remains to be seen whether such places will become the preserve of JFK, Relentless, Itsi Bitsi Bikini et al, or if smaller, well-drilled factions can compete with their hegemony.
But aside from questions regarding the control of these regions, perhaps a more appropriate query concerns exactly what these factions will do with their territories once they've acquired them. Will they be content to sit on them and earn respect, or will the desire to irritate their rivals become too significant, leading to a constant flux of ownership and a never-ending agony for the unlucky residents of the city's more desirable regions.
Is there also the more frightening possibility that the city's facilities may too come under faction control? Will Memento Mori one day own the Airport? Might PT-Family eventually come to possess the city dump? And if Art of War ever took control of City Hall, would this very paper turn into the gif-laden plaything that MarlonBrando's deranged mind dreams it of being?

Who knows what might happen in future, as it's clear that as of now, Torn Council is utterly powerless to prevent faction territorialism from enveloping the city. Whoever worded this piece of legislation has much to explain, and even with a hasty redraft, you'd be unlikely to see factions giving up the land they've fought long and hard for. Why has this situation been allowed to unfold at all? Is this the end of Torn Council? Or will they fight back, perhaps even calling upon the military for some much-needed assistance?
This kind of gang warfare has always been prevalent in Torn, but it rarely if ever spilt into the city's residential areas. The old idiom "don't s**t where you eat" seemed to be subscribed to by almost everyone. Members of SA and JFK could return home and live happily side-by-side in the same tenement housing complex, even if they'd spent the day eviscerating each other's flesh and insulting their opponents' mothers.
But such chivalry is clearly a thing of the past. War has come to each and every corner of Torn, and our collective outlook now seems even bleaker than ever.
So here are some funny block names to sugar the pill.
