Torn's $800 Billion Debt to Duke

sugarvalves [1963573] — The people of Torn City currently owe a combined total of $861,903,970,811 TC Dollars to loan shark Shirley Prima Dante Calabrese, a.k.a. The Duke , according to a leaked report from the city's financial authorities. This figure, believed to be correct as of 25th June 2017, is comprised of $575,918,900,288 loans and $285,985,070,523 in unpaid fees. 16,215 citizens are currently under a loan contract with The Duke, with 14,696 having incurred penalty fees after failing to repay their loan under the agreed terms. This, therefore, equates to an average outstanding loan of $35,632,114, and an average fee debt of $19,469,487. It should be noted that this average is not a true reflection of the figures in play, though, since its value has been skewed by hundreds of individuals with $1 loans. Nevertheless, it does show just how much is owed by so few, with only 2% of Torn's active citizens currently holding a loan agreement with The Duke. Much of this has bee...

Stormcast Comeback Seals PRC Title

sugarvalves [1963573] — Stormcast has won the 2017 Summer Professional Racing Championships , sealing the title in dramatic fashion with an astonishing comeback from second-last place. A Mechanic Shop Technician by day, Stormcast endured the worst possible start to the final, finding himself in fifth position after just ten laps. Dunmugmeh was the early pace-setter, holding first place ahead of ScHiZoPhReNiC and ToxicMonkeyMZC for more than half of the race. RogueHomer and GeorgeCostanza rounded out the final six, but while these two never really troubled the front-runners, Stormcast began to make his presence known around lap 20. Having already overtaken the Ferrari 458 of RogueHomer, Stormcast set his sights on a podium position as he scythed his way through the field. By lap 30 he'd leapt two places up to second, finding himself just 0.1% race distance behind Dunmugmeh. And as we approached the final ten Stormcast's comeback was complete, with the Destructive Anomal...

Tornography: Dunmugmeh

sugarvalves [1963573] — As Dunmugmeh approaches a decade of Torn service in September of this year, he may start to look back to reflect on what he has achieved. And with more bazaar sales than anyone else, the fifth highest number of bazaar customers and his current status as Torn's eighth most prolific criminal, you'd think the accumulation of wealth would be a major source of pride for the Elysium head honcho. Yet despite his efforts in both crime and consumerism, Dunmugmeh finds himself far down the Torn rich list with a personal fortune of $12billion - just about good enough to scrape inside the top 4000. But to focus on such numbers is to do Dunmugmeh a great disservice. Because while he has accomplished a considerable amount in crimes and trading, one of Dunmugmeh's greatest achievements may have slipped under the radar of most casual observers. For while his contemporaries have been concentrating on building stats and waging war, Dunmugmeh has transformed himse...

Suit Up - There's An Update Coming

IIIlusionist [253384] — Torn's array of armour and weapons has mostly stayed the same over the past few years. We've had a handful of new pieces here and there, and there was the update which gave each piece variable attributes, but overall there's been nothing to get excited about on the combat item front for quite some time. However, as a member of the committee, I can confirm that change is in the air. Torn's people are about to be exposed to a whole new locker of weapon and armour items. And I can also confirm that this unveiling will be happening soon....ish. So what exactly can players look forward to from this forthcoming overhaul? Well, first of all, I must clarify that although initial discussions on this subject have begun, nothing is so far set in stone. Therefore, while most of the information in this article will be close to what players can expect upon release, some aspects of the update may differ from how they are described. To begin with, let's lo...

sugarvalves [1963573] — Yesterday saw the fifth edition of the Professional Racing Championships rev-up with an exciting start to the two-week competition. Rockem of Destructive Anomaly took home the first award after finishing 31st for "middle place" in the All Class Smash ; but with the PRC Open Qualifiers starting at 6 pm today, attentions are now firmly fixed on the main event - and with it, the chance to win the coveted Bugatti Veyron. The Open Qualifiers will be contested by the first 99 Class A drivers to join the custom race organised by BackAlleyBob , with no sponsorship or fees required at this stage of the competition. To determine the qualifiers, eight races of twenty laps each will take place between 5th and 8th of June, starting at either 6 am or 6 pm TCT each day. The Un-PC NPC

rainbowsaurus [1884204] — Duke; the lovable loan shark. Over the past few months, this man has had a growing presence in Torn. He began as nothing more than a threatening financier with a poor grasp of the English language, but he has since branched out into extortion, protection and mass deception. He's even bloomed into an aspiring poet , as we saw a few weeks ago in the forums. Duke is no longer a simple NPC who only lends money and mugs you if you don't pay it back. Now he's posting forum threads, interacting with players and sowing the seeds of drama; something Chedburn has been known to enjoy . Just a few days ago Duke even launched a run for Torn President , and lord knows what would happen were he to win. But this newfound ability of Torn's most popular NPC makes a few people uncomfortable, and some even feel individually targeted. It's clear that Duke has grown beyond the role of an ordinary NPC, but how does this new character fit into the Torn environ...
