Private Security Firms Target Torn

Private Security Firms have been given the go-ahead by Chedburn to establish themselves in Torn City. This news was confirmed after intrepid citizens uncovered the founding of a dummy company called Karma Team Zero, whose creation is apparently intended to serve as a vehicle for testing new legislation which grants a range of highly desirable perks to those who work in this new and exciting industry.

The city authorities have been exploring the introduction of new professional fields into Torn for some time, but only now have we seen concrete evidence that this desire has been actioned. Private Security Firms are expected to be the first of many new company types welcomed into the fold over the coming months. And based on my initial investigations of this first enterprise, it seems that those with a talent for carefully orchestrated, corporate violence will do very well for themselves indeed.

As a member of the press, I was granted access to Karma Team Zero in order to disseminate information about its inner workings. Due to the often negative portrayal of Private Security Firms in the media, it was hoped that my investigations and subsequent coverage would help calm citizens' fears and dispel a few myths. Unfortunately, my access was not as exclusive as I was led to believe. Entry to Karma Team Zero was also granted to the likes of Marlonbrando and Champion. One can only guess as to the motive behind this decision, but I suspect it had something to do with the prevalence of drama and/or "dank memes."

Regardless, I pressed on with my inquiries and discovered that, contrary to expert opinion, the bonuses on offer for working at a Private Security Firm will be more substantial than many had anticipated. The aforementioned Champion released the supposed names of these perks in a forum post just hours after his acceptance into the company, displaying a level of permeability not often seen outside of the sieve industry. Yet while I cannot confirm nor deny whether these names will stay the same or change, I can shed light on the areas which will be affected by these bonuses.

Off The Radar was predicted by master businessman Tarelli to comprise nothing more than a simple stealth boost; since this particular special is to be made available from the beginning to one-star firms. However, I can exclusively reveal that this bonus will actually involve the application of an ability linked to bounties. The specifics of how this perk works will remain undivulged for now, since I, unlike Champion, am able to keep my gob shut. But what I will say is that this special has the potential to cause extreme consternation among some and unbridled glee for others.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about this special is the fact that such a powerful perk is being provided to companies of extremely low status. It remains to be seen whether this trend continues as we see new industries introduced into Torn, but it seems eminently possible that soon, the very best specials will no longer be the preserve of the ten-star elites.

The second most significant perk to be offered via the Private Security Firm relates to the ad hoc employment opportunities offered to citizens by The Duke and other such individuals. Those who wish to acquire the rewards of this work a little more swiftly will be pleased by the addition of this special, as will those who would prefer to have nothing to do with the activities of these moral reprobates.

In addition to the mission and bounty-based bonuses, Private Security Firm employees will also enjoy an increase in the effectiveness of certain weapons, as well as a boost when wearing certain uniforms and the occasional item reward. How quickly and often one can make use of these bonuses depends, of course, on your role in the company. But with eleven total positions on offer, including Security Contractor, Armourer, Spokesperson and Chief Strategist, there will be plenty of opportunities available for those who wish to take advantage of these generous new perks.

The introduction of Private Security Firms to Torn is set to provide even more job opportunities for our city's choice-spoilt workers. And with a start-up fee of just $950million, I predict there will be a rush to establish these firms from the moment their registration is permitted. This will almost certainly lead to an exacerbation of the heavy competition amongst companies seeking to acquire talented employees. However, when you consider the worth of these perks to certain members of our community, there is an argument to be had that the power balance could also shift in favour of the directors.

Whether this comes to pass, we will have to wait and see. But what we know for certain is that this one single company type will enforce a drastic change upon certain people's daily Torn lives. And with many more industries on their way, it seems such upheaval is something we'll have to get used to.
