Panic As Stock Market Goes Crazy

sugarvalves [1963573] — Torn's investment community was shaken like a child in the hands of a British nanny this weekend, as shares in several popular companies both rose and fell to hit record highs and lows. Shares in Yazoo, Torn City Investment Banking, Symbiotic Ltd, Home Retail Group, Feathery Hotels Group and Syscore MFG have plummeted to three-year lows in recent weeks. Conversely, the stock prices of Empty Lunchbox Building Traders, Torn City Motors, Torn City Clothing, the International School TC and this very newspaper rose to three-year highs. In a thread started by TCT reporter Nova , our city's authorities were accused of driving these changes by tampering with the prices of certain desirable stocks. As you can see from the above graph, the Torn City Stock Exchange has been on the rise for the past few months. Yet according to some, this trend does not tell the whole tale. It cannot be doubted that the stocks listed earlier have experienced significant movements...

Torn City Jail - The Ins and Outs

Franky [1529693] — Unless you're a newcomer or you've been hiding away in your parents' basement for the last few years, you'll already know that the Torn City Jail does not do a great job of containing inmates for the duration of their sentence. This lax attitude towards prison security may seem shocking to those outside the city, but it becomes less so when you consider the time citizens have put into investigating and testing how to escape this final part of the judicial process. Pictured: The part of Torn where the jail is, in case you didn't know. In Torn, it is common knowledge that crime does pay. Beatings and bounties are both legal, and selling vast quantities of drugs won't get you so much as a stern word from the often elusive police force. But if you are the daring type and want to risk spending time with a new friend by the name of Beefy Bubba, you may wish to try something more adventurous, like hacking the banks or the FBI for that extra bit of ...

New Companies In Torn City

sugarvalves [1963573] — In July 2017 it was announced that a steaming pile of hot new company types would be introduced to Torn. This initiative began with the establishment of Private Security Firms, and was swiftly followed by the release of Salt Mining Corporations a few weeks later. However, despite there being a great desire within the corridors of power to add additional companies at least every two months, this momentum has been stalled due to an impasse over the latest additions. Two new companies are currently under development, a Detective Agency and a Logistics Firm, and while their respective earnings and staff requirements have been agreed upon, it is the specials which have thus far proven a stumbling block. However, as your aunt's favourite meme goes, one person's stumbling block is another's stepping stone. And in delaying these new firms, we may have just discovered how to proceed with future company updates. This would look nice in an old woman's bat...

Scammers University: Torn City

Kapten_Klitoris [1873683] — Do you have standards? Moral issues? If so, kindly turn around. Welcome students. And yes, you are welcome. For what you are about to read is all you'll ever need to make a fortune in Torn. Forget about the conventional education system. Who cares about picking up history lessons when you can scam your way all the to the bank? What do you think of when you hear the word scammer? A conman. A thief. A cheat? No, we scammers are noble people - some of us at least. Usually, we take from the rich players and give to ourselves. Although sometimes, we take from the poor too, if they happen to chat up the wrong guy. Bah, who am I kidding? We take money from everyone. I love money. I love drugs. I love money and drugs. Just like Robin Hood, but worse. However, that's not to say we swindlers are all the same. There are many different kinds of scammers. Myself, for example, I like to scam people using trades. You would be amazed how hard such deception actual...

Competition Controversy: PRC & BOB

sugarvalves [1963573] — In the late edition of the Winter Newsletter, we promoted several player-run competitions in an effort to inspire others to join those mentioned and also create their own. But be warned, for organising such contests can often be a thankless task. In this, our special competitions feature, we are going to investigate how two events, the Professional Racing Championships and the Battle of the Brains, have both come under scrutiny due to various shenanigans. We shall start with the PRC, where viewer discretion is advised due to the presence of a cute baby picture. The PRC: George, Bob or Bust? At the beginning of this year, I published a rundown of the Professional Racing Championships finalé which could only have been improved through the inclusion of quotes from its organiser, GeorgeCostanza . Sadly, Mr Costanza was busy tending to his newly spawned offspring at the time, so we've had to wait a whole fortnight to hear his thoughts. But now, without furthe...

Chaining 2.0: My account

Nova [1570883] — For as long as I have played Torn, chaining has been an integral part of the experience. It was as important to the very first players as it is to those who battle today. For anyone who might not be aware, chaining is a feature which allows warring factions to gain respect when their members perform repeated attacks within a certain timeframe, which can later be used to purchase specials to help enhance gameplay for their members. The specifics of the system can be read about here , but first, you may want to find out why chaining is so crucial in Torn City. Factions are and always have been a major part of gameplay in Torn; from building a small Faction with a couple of friends to being a part of one of the largest and battling it out in the Hall of Fame, Faction gameplay will have influenced your Torn experience in some way or another. Therefore, with chaining being the main function of Faction gameplay, any changes made were always likely to be scrutinised by t...
