Racing Changes Coming To Torn

Race-ists enjoy boost as autosport scene receives long overdue attention. Public consultation sought on proposals.
The Torn City Times can confirm that discussions are underway which may lead to a number of improvements being made to the Torn City Racing system, with the aim of making it easier than ever for wannabe Bernie Ecclestone's to set up their own auto championships before abandoning them abruptly in a blaze of petulant glory.

Racing has seen a great deal of attention-arousing action in recent months, with the recently concluded Night Racers Tribute to Wuggington paying out $1.6billion in prize money, as well as a number of other high-value items including a rare Audi S3. Fittingly, this excellent competition was won by a friend of Wuggington, Christmasbazaar, with Hammer coming in second and Archimede taking third. The event proved to be a wonderful way to mark the legacy of one of Torn's greatest ever racers, serving as evidence - if it were ever needed - of the Night Racers' ability to put on an outstanding tournament.

To verify the results of each round, either organiser Guy_Smiley or one of his associates would have had to participate in each race throughout the duration. However, with the proposed changes currently hurtling around the track, this may not be the case for much longer. The enablement of spectatorship of all races just one of the many changes proposed to the racing system. Another major addition being considered is the ability to log and record the results of all races using a unique Racing ID or an API. This change would also allow players to view a list of races currently in action, while also serving to archive the results of races from the past.

It is hoped that these alterations will make it less of a faff for race organisers to verify and record the results of competition races, thus spurring on others to create their own rival events. Those who are interested in racing are encouraged to contact the author of this article, Sugarvalves, with any comments or suggestions they may have regarding these forthcoming changes.

Torn's Petrolheads should not expect any imminent major developments to the system due to the high number of projects in progress elsewhere, but there is a confirmed desire among the Torn bigwigs to make some useful tweaks to racing in the near future - with aesthetic additions such as new cars and tracks also believed to be a possibility. Again, suggestions for these are welcomed and encouraged to ensure our changes are 'on the right track', with my own efforts on this front proving to be distinctly sub-par at best.
