Anonymous bragging by a member of Champagne Killers has led to renewed hostilities between themselves and The War Rig - and neither faction's leader is too happy.
Last week the Torn City Times published news of a surprise territories victory in our Local News roundup. The battle to which we referred took place between The War Rig and the Champagne Killers, with an anonymous member of the victorious latter having prompted our report through a submission to our Tell Your Story section.
Earlier this week I received another tip-off from a separate source telling me that hostilities had broken out once more, and my enquiries revealed this was caused in no small part by the triumphant tone displayed in the aforementioned article.

My latest anonymous tipster is also member of Champagne Killers, and they told me that their leader Charbon had ordered his troops to prepare for war, since a territorial assault from The War Rig was considered likely. This proved to be true, and I spoke to Charbon yesterday to confirm the current situation:
"The war has just begun...As of this time, we do not have any guests in the faction."
This may be the case at present, but I have been led to believe that reinforcements are waiting in the wings should The War Rig prove too strong for Champagne Killers to handle. This information was given to me by the anonymous source of the original article, who has once more been in touch to share their thoughts:
"Currently between 15-20% of The War Rig are guest members. The fact that they feel they can't beat us without guest members speaks volumes. We have friends in other more well known factions keeping an eye on the situation who are prepared to jump in if we need them but we have faith we can beat them once more as a faction rather than just a collection of guns leadership have hired."
These comments will do nothing to dampen the anger among TWR's ranks, with many believing that CK's arrogant claims are laughable since they couldn't have beaten them without help from their friends in Milk & Cookies and other factions. Shortly after the original article was published, TWR's leader STR8 mailed me to set the record straight:
"We were not Assaulting Ck Territory Nor Did we want it at any point we were doing a 1K chain and using CK as a bonus...CK did not like this and started the Wheels in motion to receive members from MnC and Chain Reaction to Return fire and Take one of our Territories, this being the name of the game is fine."
"The Part TWR does not like is the Claim that the Much lower in Rank and Strength Faction CK could have done anything without the help of their Much Larger Friends/backup from MnC/Chain Reaction and that the Leaker of the information is allowed to remain nameless....if you're going to put information out to the public you should not be able to Hide behind the Reporter."

CK leader Charbon was equally unimpressed by the comments made by one of his soldiers, claiming to know nothing about the article before it was published. He says they never boasted about their victory out of respect for TWR who "put up an excellent fight and almost kept their territory in the end". However, he also conceded that the victory was huge for his faction, and he is therefore unsurprised one of his members went public.

STR8 believes this message was authorised by Charbon, expressing his opinion that the faction "makes choices as a whole." Charbon contacted STR8 in an attempt to diffuse tensions over the article, but despite a discussion described as "reasonable and friendly", a deal could not be reached. And regardless of the on-going war and subsequent comments made by their faction leader, my anonymous source expressed only partial regret over their actions:
"I am proud to be under Charbon's leadership and whilst I do not regret boasting, I do respect that wars cost money and the CK leadership would rather put that money towards chaining and building our overall stats. The initial article almost certainly provoked The War Rig into this attack which I do regret but Torn deserves to know the story of one of the future reigning factions. Many years from now stories will be told about the original Champagne Killers and how The War Rig were the first to crumble."
Should this prophecy come to pass depends on whether CK's allies will enter the fray. Charbon says they always negotiate a fair wage with their war guests, and they are able to draw on support from former members and their friends in MnC when required. He wanted to thank his allies for being there for him and the faction, although it seems likely they always will be, given that Charbon has family within the MnC ranks.
When asked directly if Milk and Cookies would step in to this conflict if required, faction co-leader Nova indicated that such an outcome had already occurred without anyone having to be ordered to help.

STR8 hopes CK's allies will not decide the outcome of this battle, but admits it is likely, especially given the blood ties which exist between their rivals and MnC. Although, having once completed a 2,500 chain hit with just 22 members, TWR's leader still thinks his outfit is capable of causing an upset, especially as they've managed to acquire a few allies of their own:
"We started the war this time, and not just for bonuses or Chain this is specifically to get our territory back, we expect it to be a good fight and possibly pretty hard if MnC steps in again, but we want to win and expect to do so. We have some of our allies moved into our faction to help us Guest with this Fight..."
TWR were offered the services of mercenaries during the previous conflict, but STR8 says the $20million plus bonuses they charged were not worth it to keep a territory. Although according to Kapten Klitoris, TWR have changed their tune of late.

I have yet to verify Kapten's claims on this matter, but it seems that TWR are up against it even with Senor Klitoris' help. One of CK's hired guns from the previous battle - another person who wishes to remain anonymous - believes that TWR's lack of numbers means they are doomed whether or not they have acquired themselves a few new friends.
"I know Charbon way back from an other faction but it closed because of RMT shit. And I told Charbon if you need some help he could always pm me...Say like me and some of MnC join then CK will have around 90 members and say TWR find 10 more, they will have 38 its gonna use a lot of E to keep everyone off the wall. Gonna be very hard then unless TWR will hire hitmen."
Charbon was respectfully defiant in his prediction for the war, calling TWR's core "active and relentless" while commending them for the heart they showed during their previous conflict. He feels the Champagne Killers are always ready for a new challenge, and he ominously stated that if they do need further outside help, they are by no means afraid to ask for it.
Yet with two confirmed leaks from the CK camp having come my way in recent weeks, one would suggest that Charbon may wish to focus his attention towards those inside the faction, rather than those on the outside, if he wishes to emerge triumphant from this latest battle with The War Rig.
