Weekly patch notes 30/10/18

Stewie [1494547]
A rundown of all the latest changes that have happened throughout the week!
Curious as to what's changed in Torn City over the past week? Here's a quick recap of the latest developments as revealed in Tuesday's patch notes.

Updates, Changes and Additions

- Fixed "You have X stored in the vault" text (removed personification)

This issue was reported by a confused citizen who was unsure whether the $500,000,000 in his spouse's vault belonged to him or not. The player could not access the cash because vault sharing was disabled, but the wording of the vault message suggested it belonged to him by stating: "You have $500,000,000 stored in the vault." After quite a few suggestions, it was decided to simply change this message to be less personal.

- Fixed newsletter bonus to prevent crediting 250 energy if the user already has over 750

An issue with the newsletter bonus was reported here by Koron, who accidentally used their free hit of 250 energy while already stacked at 1,000, thus wasting it. After some initial confusion as to how this was possible, it was discovered that their e-mail client had images disabled, and Koron couldn't see the Claim 250 energy link. In its place, the link was displayed as Take freebie.

Chedburn made it possible for the player to claim the bonus again, and changed it for future newsletters so it cannot be claimed if you have over 750 energy. If he remembers, Chedburn will change the text displayed for the link in the next newsletter.

- Fixed Hazmat suit not providing protection against Tear gas, Pepper spray and Nerve gas

Reported by JZZ here, it was acknowledged that hazmat suits should be blocking the effects of tear gas and pepper spray in fights, due to their respective real-world properties. This puts them in line with motorcycle helmets and welding helmets.

- Removed all weapons and armor with ungenerated stats from bazaars and display cabinets

The change to weapons and armour made years ago - unstacking individual pieces and assigning them accuracy and damage/armour values - did not affect items that were stored in display cases or bazaars at the time. Although this change didn't have a huge impact on gameplay, it did mean that if the cheapest weapon of a certain type was in a bazaar and still stacked, you could not browse for the best one.

Reported here by four, Chedburn elected to simply remove every single weapon and armour piece from bazaars and display cases and place them in a users inventory. Ironically done to spare future bug reports, doing this precipitated numerous bug reports, as well as a couple of Q&A and General Discussion threads.

- Weapon accuracy changes

Accuracy values on weapons have now been changed to reflect exact hit chance in a fight where you have the same speed as an opponent's dexterity. For example, someone with 1,000,000 speed using a 65.00 accuracy weapon will hit a player with 1,000,000 dexterity 65% of the time. Change announced here.

- Chaining respect changes

Hits on a faction will now remove 25% of the gained respect, increased from 10% upon initial launch. Bonus hits are also now fixed values, meaning they can be taken by anyone, on anyone, to receive the same amount of respect. Announced here.

Bugs & Fixes

- Fixed typo in Egyptian Amulet description

As reported here, the item description for 'Egyptian Amulet' had a spelling error where the word particular was spelt as particluar.

- Fixed caching bug resulting in two-way blocks of chats

Those with chat settings set to 'only people who you know or have met' do not receive requests from randomers who want to open chats. However, this option would also mistakenly prevent you from making contact with others too. This was reported here and fixed by vysdel2.

Extras (not included in the Patch list)

1. Reported here, it was brought to Xepa4ep's attention that upvoting the same post in multiple tabs would produce a 500 error!

2. As reported here, when attempting to add market listings with $0 on hand, while the 3% listing fee was actually $0, you would have been met with an error stating: "You do not have enough money to cover the fee for putting this item up." - Minimum fee of $1?

3. It was reported here that faction newsletters count as individual mails (per member), rather than one mail sent to many. This is not the first time it was brought up; last year in a bug report created by Harley, he reported that company newsletters only counted as one, rather than per employee. When Chedburn said he would agree to this, that it is just a single mail, it was queried if faction newsletters should behave the same way - although no response was ever received to this.

4. While spinning the Roulette wheel, and then sitting down at a Poker game with all of your cash on-hand, users would receive a strange error message: noMoney. This was reported here.

5. When attacking with multiple tabs open, one for the item page and others for your targets, a bug would occur that leaves you without an item in the temporary slot. Attempting to equip a previously equipped temporary item without refreshing the item page will not equip that item, despite not indicating this failure.

For example, if you have a flash grenade equipped for your first attack, switch to a smoke grenade for your second attack and then back to a flash grenade for your third attack, you will not have that flash grenade during your third attack. This has been reported multiple times over the past year, most recently
here by Freaker, and although it has seemingly had no permanent fix of yet, perhaps this week Xepa4ep has found something that will stick!

API Changes and Additions

- [API] Fixed item images URLs http > https

One of L4suicide's many bug reports regarding the API; the URL for item images was using HTTP, rather than HTTPS.

Weekly honour bar

This week's honour bar is 'Athletic', achieved by gaining 1,000,000 total battle stats. Just train in the gym to trigger it if you have already met this achievement! This marks the 6th honour bar out of a planned 11 given for total battle stats, with the 11th apparently marked for 100,000,000,000 total stats - something currently only achieved by 8 players!
