Dog Tags 2018 will come to an end at 5pm on Sunday the 25th of November, and with its conclusion, a new champion will be crowned. Who that will be is as yet uncertain, but having seen the current scores and the identities of those at the top, I feel the final result has now become something of a foregone conclusion.

With just over a day remaining until the finalé, our current leader sits more than 4,000 points ahead of his nearest rival. The top three remain the same as they were since our last tags article, but fourth and fifth have swapped places. Our sixth-placed player has held onto their spot, but Alexstrasza has lost seventh and swapped places with last week's eighth position. Meanwhile, ninth is now occupied by the player in tenth last week, with this week's tenth taken by a new entrant into the top ten.

For the final time this year, here are the top ten tag scores as they were at 1.40pm today:

1st - 1,118 tags - 34,919 points
2nd - 1,328 tags - 30,052 points
3rd - 936 tags - 15,131 points
4th - 621 tags - 14,821 points
5th - 920 tags - 14,791 points
6th - 616 tags - 12,830 points
7th - 794 tags - 12.641 points
8th - 460 tags - 11,051 points
9th - 514 tags - 10,396 points
10th - 641 tags - 9,931 points

For those of you looking to secure one of the prestigious metal tags given to those who finish in the top twenty-five, the scores for places 11 to 25 are as follows:

11th - 527 tags - 9,630 points
12th - 471 tags - 9,148 points
13th - 381 tags - 8,913 points
14th - 453 tags - 8,891 points
15th - 237 tags - 8,671 points
16th - 790 tags - 8,333 points
17th - 340 tags - 8,261 points
18th - 479 tags - 8,070 points
19th - 414 tags - 7,876 points
20th - 358 tags - 7,837 points
21st - 248 tags - 7,419 points
22nd - 431 tags - 7,355 points
23rd - 316 tags - 7,118 points
24th - 295 tags - 6,913 points
25th - 495 tags - 6,891 points

And finally, any players hoping to achieve the maximum number of tokens from this event - ten - may be interested to know that the cutoff for the top 10% of all players is 813 points at the time of writing. If you do not meet this criteria, you now have just over 24 hours left to improve your position. Attacking other players at random is one tactic you could use, or you could follow the example of Hildegarde, who seems to be using Bruce-LeeFFS as a tag sniffer dog if the following screenshot is to be believed.

Alternatively, last year's second place tagger Ofgortens suggests that newcomers looking to obtain the 250 tags merit should be using TornStats or DocTorn to make the most of the competition's final few hours, employing these tools to look up 'Defends Lost' on the profile page. He elaborates on his tactics below:

"Use advanced search to look for players with a minimum days old of when the event started to about 150-250 days old. There are lots. Also make sure to put in the level between 0-5. You'll simply farm 1 pt tags."

"There are tons of them and this is the fastest way to make sure they still have their tag without having to go into their personal stats (let tornstats or doctorn show that)
This will give you about 90-95% tag pull rate and you can get the 250 merit with minimal hits and no stats required. All 1 pt tags."

Dog Tags 2018 ends at 5pm on Sunday, November 25th.
