Dirty Bomb Gossip

With the activation of Dirty Bombs now just days away, we ask an important question: Who has a dirty bomb, and what are their plans?
The release of Dirty Bombs is imminent. During a clandestine meeting with Chedburn on New Year's Eve, this reporter was informed of the date of activation under oath of secrecy. All citizens and factions must prepare for a Dirty Bomb detonation immediately, for those who do not will soon come to regret it.

The authorities have informed me that there are currently 66 Dirty Bombs ready to blow in Torn City. Of these, four are in the hands of just one player, with a further three apiece each held by three more citizens. To protect their rights to anonymity, I cannot name either the individual players or factions who hold Dirty Bombs. What I can reveal is that the two sides of the forthcoming war both hold an alarming number of nuclear devices, with the JF-allied factions slightly shading it.

I will be contacting the owners of Dirty Bombs over the coming days to find out their intentions, and I encourage any proactive terrorists to message me first, in order to allow me more cheese-eating time over the holiday season. However, I do not expect many to contact me regarding this matter, since once the bombs are detonated, their owners are permitted to remain entirely anonymous.

In post-apocalyptic Torn, it is up to the discretion of the bombers whether or not to reveal themselves. This will remain the case when Dirty Bombs are enabled once more, as unlike in the rest of the world, Torn City is committed to respecting terrorists' right to privacy. But based on the target faction and some guesswork, it may be possible to deduce the evil geniuses behind most Dirty Bomb strikes.

With that in mind, we've employed the gossip-milking abilities of the Torn City Times staff to squeeze the following rumours out of the teat of secrecy - engorged as it is with enigma. So let's find out who has admitted to owning a Dirty Bomb, and what they plan to do with it.

DIRTY BOMB GOSSIP

Hopslam is currently offering a Dirty Bomb for sale via his bazaar at a price of $27 billion.

The Ðestructive Anomaly-allied trading maestro claims he has had no offers for the device so far, but nor has he attempted to offer it for sale to any particular factions or individuals. Dirty Bombs do not typically appear on the item market due to previous limitations on pricing. However, now that such restrictions have been lifted, Hopslam is free to offer his deadly creation to others.

"I am glad that Chedburn (via B&I) recently updated the bazaar pricing capability to 11 digits so that it could be placed in the bazaar. I only just finished building mine a few days ago on 12/27.
Penicillin looks to be finishing up building one as well, in another day or so. I think he has multiple though."

Destructive Anomaly leader Henkiepuk followed up by revealing that Hopslam and DaCrimeKe also saved up a great deal of additional Cesium to help the faction complete two bombs just recently. DA built these two bombs back to back to allow all their members the chance to receive the merit. But who are DA targeting with these bombs? Where does their allegiance lie?

"DA's allegiance lies with DA. We keep a close eye on the Insurgency developments but have no interest to play a part in that war, other than opening our reviving specials in Dead Or Alive. Our revivers are free to choose which side they want to revive for (probably the highest bidder)."

IBB JUX MnC DA is a faction which has been used to create Dirty Bombs for each of the outfits named in its title. The faction's own description reveals that it was used to create a fifth bomb for Destructive Anomaly, but confirmation of more recent activity came from a Bug Report by a player called LordLuke, who accidentally revealed that a build was currently in progress just before Christmas.

Equalizer 2-JD
are collecting Cesium to build a Dirty Bomb to then sell. This information was confirmed by their leader 2sox, who says his faction intends to build a DB for the merit and the fun of it. They presently possess just eleven of the one-hundred Cesiums required to build a bomb, but since they have no enemies in need of immediate destruction, E2JD are happy to bide their time.

"I simply buy a Cesium every 2 months when my bank interest comes in from the cheapest seller, so I guess I would buy from someone again even if they decide to tell the world. That does not bother me, as I have no intention of using a DB or have any plans to."

"We'd either hold it for a show of power or sell it & divide the profits between the members that helped create it. I presume some sellers in this situation will have an allegiance and therefore inform other parties of an incoming potential threat, but we're just doing this for the fun & merits... Still we are years away, unless we get real lucky with City finds!"

Dekloren has a bomb. This was the rumour anyway. And since Dek's allegiances are to Dekloren and Satan, in that order, we have no idea who he plans to target with his dirty shiny briefcase. Seemingly irritated by the way we have recently reported his comments, Dekloren gave us the following short reply when we enquired:

So there we have it. Dekloren is going to attack Z_Junior.

Shadowrazers were discovered to have created a fully functioning Dirty Bomb by one of our reporters, and their leader TRex revealed this was the second such device built by the faction, with the previous one having been finished last December. His faction plans to build more bombs as a self-defence measure given the forthcoming release of destructive warring, but TRex says that these devices will only be used as a last resort and that he has no current targets in mind.

"We have never had any real alliances, we are far too weak so I'm pretty sure no HoF factions would be interested in making an alliance with us, although there are a few factions we have enjoyed working with as far as respect farming, But we have never had a faction show interest in helping us with conflicts and such, and of course we are too weak to help anyone with strong enemies."

"We like being neutral and "under the radar" as much as possible so we can focus our resources on training and building our faction specials. We have a long way to go before we would be considered real players among all the strong factions."

The Honey Badgers 2.0 and Honey Badgers Academy are both believed to have working Dirty Bombs, with spots having already been sold on ther build teams for the related honours. We also heard that 2.0 leader Gux- was hoping to sell one of them. Gux- confirmed this was true in a short interview, stating that the bomb was likely to have been purchased by the end of the day.

"So far we have built a few dirty bombs, luckily to a faction I hold in high regard, but we have built them for financial gain and therefore would sell to just about anyone. Although, mates rates will apply.

"This isn't the only one we've built in the last month. January should prove to be an explosive month... Should any readers of your newspaper be interested, for the right price we may be inclined to aid in production."

rxlyaT of Honey Badgers Academy followed up these comments by revealing that HBA has just finished up their second bomb in as many weeks, while also announcing that his faction is available for all of your bomb making needs.

"We're actually going forward as a service and will be using it for players to get their DB honors as well as factions to use us as a facility to build their bombs. We have only come to this idea a couple of weeks ago when -Hippo- decided he wanted to build one and I offered the faction as a base for him to do that."

Interestingly, when I contacted HB's overall leader Chanti for clarification on their allegiance, she explained they plan to remain neutral but hinted that since Gux was running the DB build faction, he would decide which factions were marked as suitable clients.

Bekoe of Naughty Souls
was revealed by an anonymous trader to have been collecting Dirty Bomb materials over the past few weeks. When I asked him whether his bomb was complete, who it was intended for, and where his allegiance lies, he responded thusly:

"1. No. 2. Undecided. 3. To the naughty people of Torn!"

L4Suicide of 39th Street Healers is already known to have at least one dirty bomb, having attempted to offer it up as a prize in two recent competitions. The second DB contest has just been closed down due to a lack of interest by both participants and L4, but he hopes to run it again for a third time early in 2019.

However, our reporting team has it on good authority that L4suicide has sold off several Dirty Bombs already, with some suggesting that up to four have passed through his hands in recent months. L4 had the following comment to make on this rumour:

"I trade lots of things, some of them may be dirty. I keep my clients names private and am sure none of them would target 39th, so if anyone had issue they must have been super smart and super quiet."

"Can't remember how many. I did a lot of trades for cesium and built more, and then did the reverse too, so swapped 98 cesium for a DB as they client wanted to sell but selling DB would lose them more cash."
