Tens of billions of dollars' worth of items set to be dumped or handed out by city loan shark. Poison Mistletoe, Welding Helmets and several new items among those offered.
The annual Twelve Days of Christmas Giveaway competition run by Duke Calabrese has begun today with the release of a thousand Poison Mistletoe items into the city dump. Citizens who are interested in acquiring this rare item are therefore encouraged to visit the Torn landfill site at various times during Friday, as our city's loan shark has promised to continue dumping Poison Mistletoes throughout the day.

For those of you who are averse to the idea of smelling like fried excrement and expired mayonnaise, Poison Mistletoes can also be acquired by visiting Duke's Day One forum thread and responding to his request for pictures of you kissing someone or something you love. Duke will be posting another of these challenges each day to mark the dumping of a new item, with dump giveaways expected to take place every day up to and including Christmas Day itself.

From today through to Tuesday, citizens can expect to find all manner of boosters and item packs hidden among the trash, but from Wednesday the value of the prizes will increase markedly when Duke is expected to begin slinging new items which have been specially created for this very giveaway. It is also believed that Duke will hand out a small number of Welding Helmets at some point during the event, and finish with his traditional Christmas Day handout of various stat enhancers to the first people who wish him Merry Christmas in an interesting way.

In addition to this cruel display of generosity, I can confirm that the leases on three of Duke's fully upgraded private islands are about to expire, meaning that a competition will soon be announced to offer a free 90-day rental in each of these properties. This contest will be posted in Community Events on Monday the 17th of December, along with a selection of old and new competitions run by the Torn City staff.

A full list of the current Torn Community Events can be found here, with more to follow in the coming days.
