Key figures from Insurgency and JFK speak to the Torn City Times to explain their alliances, intentions and their Dirty Bomb ambitions.
The leaders of several JFK-allied factions have told Torn City Times of their displeasure regarding our recent article on the formation of the Insurgency alliance, suggesting this group is much stronger than it claims to be, amid reports its members have been pestering other factions to join in with their cause.

"They've been begging all sorts of factions for weeks. I would not hold your breath on 4 factions involved... One Punch will be on their side for sure, they're pretty much a sub. There'll surely be more factions backing them up but don't want to speculate."
Those were the words of DaCampa, leader of PT-Family, who were themselves accused by Hank of being allied to JFK along with several other factions within the PT group. Other reported allies of JFK include Mentos and Cola and Milk and Cookies, in addition to the JF affiliates JFA, JFA 2.0 and JFK 2.1. But despite this strength in depth, DaCampa feels that the forthcoming war is hardly an uneven fight, as Insurgency are getting stronger by the day.
"Considering them a 4 faction alliance and JFK's alliance a 9 faction alliance is silly because it's counting sister factions on one side and not counting them on the other. Next thing we know people will be also counting JFR and PT-P, factions that only house inactive players, as warring factions to make the fight look uneven."
This is a fair point. We asked Meanmike if the Insurgency had reached out to any other factions, and he confirmed they had, with some responding positively to the alliance's overtures. He stopped short of naming said factions, but Meanmike's rival commander DaCampa suggests that they will most likely consist of factions who have been previously allied against JFK.
"Neither of the alliances is new, and the updates were coming eventually so it'll be a bit of a throwback to the previous version of Torn where factions had wars. There are some new faces but the allegiances are the same. The main difference is now R can be considered the head of that side after years of SA leading the pack."

Our supports, revivers, resources, etc, are probably not more numerous. Again, no one knows for sure because there is always a lot of backstage movement. With the city on the brink of returning to the chaotic days of old, one could be forgiven for wondering what has caused all of this in the first place? Yes, there are some historic alliances and rivalries at play here, but one of the main reasons given for the formation of the Insurgency counter-alliance was the supposed recent interference by JFK et al. in various wars and chains conducted by their rivals in Relentless, Subversive Alliance and Forged Through War.

"I don't recall JFK specifically doing it. I thought it was JFA, but some of us may have. I don't know that we were rude. I think people just called them scripters, cheaters. Outside of that, yes, they found flaws in blackjack, etc but nothing different than me using breakouts in the old days."

This accusation caused several players to contact the Times to demand its removal, and although this request was initially granted by a rogue reporter under pressure, it was later reversed at the behest of TCT's Sugarvalves, who wishes to make it clear that the newspaper retains to right to publish any quotes it receives, and will not remove any quotes once an article has been published. In fact, if you request the removal of a quote, Sugarvalves promises to put it in bold, 16pt font at the beginning and end of the article.
Wild_Irish_Btch, the leader of HeLa, had the following comments to make on the matter:
"If JFA's leadership would spend as much time and effort trying to rebuild Torn Medical after abusing it's former leadership as it spends on trying to smear another faction to poach it's members they might be successful at some point. As it stands, apparently just mailing my entire roster just isn't going to cut it because my people know that no matter who we revive for, it is a standard $1mil per revive fee paid to our participating revivers."

Would Four have made his statement if HeLa weren't a threat? who knows. But with the propaganda machines running red hot on all sides, it seems that all-out war is indeed coming to Torn City. And the timing of this conflict has profound consequences for the rest of us, given the supposedly imminent introduction of raiding and dirty bombs back into the game.

For those of you who are unaware, dirty bombs are made by factions and can be used against rival factions, with members of the target hospitalised for two or more days due to radiation poisoning. However, their effects are not limited to one unlucky faction, as dirty bomb detonations cause all shops and the airport to be closed for 4-6 hours, while also hospitalising random players who happen to be online at the time.
JFA leader Stretch believes that we may see DBs used early on in the coming fight and that their deployment will be by no means a one-off occurrence.
"Well, I would assume there will be radiated backsides running all over torn both sides. Each side has a number of DBs, I doubt there will be much apprehension on dropping them, especially at the start."
Conversely, Meanmike of Chain Reaction sought to allay citizens' fears by suggesting the Insurgency Alliance will not use a dirty bomb until their rivals have done so first.
"We are doing this for the whole city, it'd be counter-productive of that mission to light em all up. We will let JF fire the first DB. But ...we have as many as they do. If it was up to us, they wouldn't be coming out again until this was over. Gonna cost a lot of crews lot of hard-earned respect. But its safe to say that the first one to use one from them is gonna eat the majority of ours."

Is Meanmike sporting a luminous poker face? Time will tell. Just how many Dirty Bombs come to illuminate our fair city also depends on any further alliances which are formed over the coming weeks. A member of the Destructive Anomaly family told me his faction are themselves preparing several nukes, but their intended target and potential allegiances are as yet unknown.
"DA family is building 3 dirty bombs, partly so that everyone can get the merit, and partly for the DB, if you know what I mean. We are using the faction IBB - JUX - MnC. I think dakrime got the cesium for this one. Can't remember who is doing the second one. They never told me about the third one. I found it out myself. Somehow they got 300+ cesium without alerting the market, and having the price raised."
The faction IBB - JUX - MnC is described as a dummy faction used by Destructive Alliance along with their "friendly alliances and support factions", IBB, JUX and MnC, for the formation of Dirty Bombs. This powerful foursome could prove a decisive ally if they were to align themselves together against either JFK or Insurgency, but we are thus far unsure as to their intentions.
One of Chain Reaction's leaders Proxima is currently guesting within JUX. However, while some may jump to conclusions and assume this means JUX is Insurgency allied, Proxima claims this couldn't be further from the truth.
"That JUX/IBB/MnC thing is referring to a Dirty Bomb faction I used last year, the actual owner of it decided to add the names of factions that had used it for some reason. JUX are Switzerland, was while I was here a year ago and have been since. If anything they will be belligerently neutral. DA, I'd love to know myself."
DonCabra believes he may be able to shed some light on the matter. He contacted the Times to inform us that MnC have been warring against Chain Reaction 2.0's territories, which may indicate they are aligned with JFK. Mentos and Cola leader xMrPink denies this is the case, explaining that "CR and Mentos have had an agreement to sit on the Walls for each other while we chain for a few months now. We just completed a 10k chain with their assistance."
One wonders how this agreement between Chain Reaction and Mentos will work now that the latter's allegiance to JFK has become clear. Elsewhere, another interesting saga seems to be developing over at 39th Street, where L4suicide finds himself in a sticky situation having auctioned off a Dirty Bomb strike last year. The winner of this competition was CCWY, who chose Subversive Alliance as the target due to Dekloren being a member. However, Dekloren has now moved to Relentless, and both SA and R are Insurgency aligned.
39th Street are believed to be wary of jumping into the fight at this present time, but thankfully for L4suicide, a decision on this matter may not have to be made, since CCWY is currently in federal jail. Last time she spoke to the 39th leader, she asked him to confirm her target when DBs were reactivated. L4 claims to have offered her a refund before she fedded, but he offered no clarification as to what he would do next, and nor did he confirm his faction's war allegiances.
"So far 39th have no involvement in the four non blondes, ninja turtles, or beatles. Maybe we could be shredder, or splinter, or Pete Best (don't have one for the non-blondes sadly)."
As you can see, Dirty Bombs are currently in the possession of several agitated factions, each with rival or unclear alliances which may cause them to be deployed as soon as their activation is announced. The Torn City Times suggests that all citizens attempt to stock up on Neumune, Hazmat Suits and Business Class tickets as soon as you can, for the minute the bombs begin to drop, these items will soon be in short supply - if they aren't already.
Both of Torn's major alliances have extremely strong players and resources to draw upon, and the reintroduction of raiding and dirty bombs could mean we are in for a protracted period of war, to say the least.
