JFA Enjoy A Dirty Weekend

TUN-allied faction hit by dirty bomb. Franky of IBB claims responsibility. Attack due territorial aggression. Nuclear response imminent. 2nd IBB bomb readied.
Nothing spices things up like a Dirty Bomb to roll in the weekend. This is precisely what happened just after 10pm last Friday night, when Franky of Itsi Bitsi Bikini detonated a dirty bomb within the heart of JFA in an attempt to change the course of their ongoing territorial conflict.

To recap, Itsi Bitsi Bikini (IBB) is currently defending AVE and LIE from JFA and JFA 2.0, having previously lost GJE and JIE to the same two factions over the weekend when JFA attacked without warning. Shortly after the territory wars started, the message rang out that a DB had been planted, and this was accompanied by a warning post from Franky.

While Champion was quick to start a karma-farming thread for speculation, the only interesting piece of information posted was a meme by Josephine. Meanwhile, Evil-Duck attempted to claim the DB was heading for Relentless, and given that ED tends to either lie or be wrong about mostly everything, few seemed to pay heed to his incessant quackery - JFA included. Then, at one minute past ten in the evening, the target was confirmed. And for once, it wasn't Relentless. And for once, the bomb definitely wasn't paid for by JFA.

The attack injured 385 citizens and reduced JFA's respect total by 314,484 to 4,392,354, leaving just 13 of their members standing when the radioactive smoke had cleared. Less than 24 hours after detonation, a quick trip to the forums confirmed that Franky had targeted JFA in response to their territorial assaults on his faction, while also confirming what every award hunter knows to be true; "Merits are everything."

"I used the bomb to even out our odds as we don't stand a chance 1 v 1. Sadly, we didn't use it to our full advantage."

According to a message from Penicillin shared on the forums, the attacks by JFA upon IBB represents his faction's attempt at "carving out a new area on the map", following their ousting from Torn's city centre during the recent TUN / Insurgency conflict. This is something many in IBB had predicted would happen, though, with reporter cum terrorist Franky having provided us with this rather ominous quote earlier in the month.

"We've been watching JFA creeping up on the jail. Not sure if they prefer to watch the inmates from the outside or be with them. Word on the street though is that they were 'Just looking for some spots to get good respect'. Not really my call as to whether or not we'll move to let them fight. We quite like our spot near the jail..."

It seems the fears of Franky and his IBB colleagues were well founded. Last week, we heard rumours that IBB were in possession of a bomb that was to be used for "defensive purposes only". This defensive measure has now been deployed, but Franky feels IBB failed to capitalise on the mass hospitalisation of JFA's members, lamenting the fact that their top statted members were unaffected by the bomb due to their ownership of hazmat suits.

Franky admits his faction may now face the prospect of looking for a new home, especially since JFA 2.0 are also hitting them hard. Ironically, JFA have been vociferous in calling for a 1v1 war over these territories, despite the heavy involvement of their own subfaction JFA 2.0 in the conflict. Stretch's reply to being called out on this discrepancy is that "it's [all] JFA", and furthermore, he thoroughly refutes the idea that this battle is in any way part of the ongoing conflict between Torn United Nations and Insurgency.

"JFA is doing this attack on IBB alone, it has nothing to do with TUN/Insurgency. This is JFA looking to improve their territory placement."

There has been much speculation on whether IBB are officially allied with the Insurgency since the war began - the neutral faction's territorial placement was deemed convenient for the Insurgency since it helped block a potential attack route for TUN forces. Now that IBB are in open conflict with a member of TUN, many feel it is only a matter of time before they are aligned with the likes of Relentless, Chain Reaction et al. Sporkmonkey of JFA 2.0 believes this has already happened.

"Of course IBB is an ally of Insurgency. This isn't about the war, however. To quote, and slightly change the lyrics of Carly Simon, 'You're so vain. You probably think this fight is about you. You're so vain, I'll bet you think everything is about you. Don't you?'..."

"Their forum posts to make seem as such. Not their leadership so much. I have praised Proxima and MeanMike several times in the forums. They have kept a great sense of humor. The bitterness in these posts have been the worst part of the war. No one likes a piss poor winner."

Stretch isn't so keen to assume that IBB and Insurgency are or will ever become allies, though. The JFA leader is seemingly content to bide his time, and has actually called out Insurgency on their potential interference publicly, in what appears to be an attempt to shame them into inaction.

"Insurgency has said they don't want dog piling into wars, this will be the first instance to test those assertions."

Meanmike confirmed that Insurgency would not be coming to the aid of IBB, with the leader of Chain Reaction seemingly irked that Leaf_Bikini's troops refused to join them earlier in the campaign, explaining that "they had their chance to join the insurgency and passed." But just because Insurgency aren't going to help IBB, that doesn't mean they won't be involved in some other way, as SA's leader Midknight explains.

"The goal for Insurgency is to break up mega alliances and allow factions to be able to fight their own wars without outside interference.  If TUN decide to support the attack on IBB along with JFA, we may reconsider our position."

There is another interesting element to this story which has been thus far unreported, and that is the rumoured secret negotiations between Insurgency and JFA over the latter's placement in sector 1. Meanmike has been the main instigator of such rumours, going so far as to suggest the existence of a faction memo which proves that JFA were intending to pull out of TUN and secure themselves some prime post-war territories following the loss of the island.

Despite a hefty reward on offer, evidence of this agreement has so far failed to surface, leading the Times to conclude that these rumours are false. JFA leader Stretch unsurprisingly agrees with our conclusion.

"We have stated JFA accepts nothing, we will take what we want. If there was s1 slots given, why would we invade IBB? Anyone saying/believing otherwise is just trying to stir the pot."

The movement of JFA and JFA 2.0 into IBB territory is interesting, as it has brought them face to face with both Wolf Pack and Chain Reaction. Further south, we've also seen the various assortment of PT forces being met by Subversive Alliance troops, with Midknight having shifted his warriors to the front line to protect Insurgency's weaker factions from retaliation.

"PT and other enemy forces on our borders is something that was always going to happen. I'll be happy when there is an actually system in place to allow factions to compete with each other. We decided we'd rather just be upfront then allow a weaker ally to be our temporary shield. PT and others are very strong factions and we didn't think it was fair to ask others to do something we were unwilling to do ourselves."

The next stage of the war looks like it is almost upon us, and if IBB are to be involved, they may have to fight their way back from sector 7 first. Their nuclear attack upon JFA also represents the first Dirty Bomb used since Insurgency took the Island. But will it be the last? We have been led to believe that JFA is currently debating a like-for-like retaliation with a DB of their own, but they have not yet decided what to do. And nor has IBB's TherapyNeeded, who is currently building a second bomb for purposes unknown.

"In the words of KCMO "I ain't no p***y bitch". I don't care if anyone knows I'm building a bomb... I'm still quite unsure if I will drop this bomb. I won't hide when the time comes to drop and I won't be afraid to drop it. Upon completion it will sit in my display... we are just biding our time. I don't think it would do anything besides remove a few months of respect... I have met a few good guys over in their faction. It doesn't appear they are all *******s. I guess time will tell."

While the future use of DB's is up in the air, Scootaloo has pointed out a flaw in JFA's plan, namely that it's "[best] not to assault a merit hunter with a DB laying around." Then again, it's not like JFA are lacking merit hunters themselves. And many of them haven't launched a nuke yet. But if a retaliatory bomb does hit IBB, you can bet your bottom dollar it will be deployed in the most friendly manner possible, as this war has been mostly good natured so far.

This spirit of respect was continued by our bomber boy Franky, who offered a glow-in-the-dark olive branch to his victims, despite their continued assault upon his homeland.

"I've told the few guys in JFA I spoke to that it was nothing personal just to try gain some kind of edge. In the end, it's all just a game. You got to do what you love in the game to get the most out of it. #NoRegrets."
