Let's have a look through the latest Patch List as posted by Chedburn to see what updates, changes, and fixes have been made to Torn this week, and what they mean for you.
Please note, the updates and bugs documented in this article are worked on by a team of developers. Where a single developer is individually mentioned, it simply reflects who confirmed the report as fixed or complete, and not that they were solely responsible.
Updates, Changes and Additions
- Added effect listing to items required by certain sub-crimes.
Items such as the "Stealth Virus", required by computing crimes, have had their effects added to their respective item panels in green. This is in line with effects being added to all types of items over the last few weeks, including Drugs, Consumables and Boosters.
- Updated the Uptime / Downtime section on the Users Online page to a more accurate & useful system.
The "Users Online" page reports on the current status of each server, stating the number of Users on each one (referred to as "data points"), while recent periods of downtime now have both dates and timestamps.
- Updated comic submission guidelines on the comic submit page.
In this bug report, MightyGoober requested clarification on the submission guidelines for newspaper comics, regarding the federal jail sentence for submitting other's work. The wording upon submission was changed instead to say "Punishment determined by the Admins" rather than a flat "Submitting your own work will result in Federal Jail time".
Bugs, Fixes and Typos
- Removed blank margin when the user scrolls to the screen width.
While using mobile Torn layout on an Android Chrome, DENMON observed that upon scrolling to the right, an extra blank margin exists. nikitad confirmed this to be fixed.
- Fixed initiating check withdrawals via URL.
Midnight_Trader reported here that he and several others were not able to withdraw multiple bank checks, individually or together. Chedburn quickly confirmed that this had been resolved.
- Fixed inconsistent error message placement while applying to a company when already in one.
CloudJumper observed in this thread an inconsistency in the placement of the error message received when applying to a second company, compared with applying to a second faction. Chedburn noted both messages should appear below the "Apply" button, and nikitad confirmed this had been done.
- Fixed displaying faction tags and names in the Hall of Fame on mobile while honor names are off.
Blunt noticed here, while browsing the HOF page with honor bars switched off, that formatting for long faction names was being continued on the next row after exceeding the character length. nikitad confirmed that this has now been fixed.
- Fixed Casino job specials appearing available when not at the correct rank.
GodlyGreg reported here that while employed in the casino starter job, the "Steal Cash" special appeared despite the fact he could not use it, as he was not of a high enough rank. Chedburn has made some adjustments to amend this.
- Fixed header bar width issues causing search bar and icons to drop down.
Zziox reported here an issue with the rendering of the header "User Search" field, using the Firefox browser. nikitad confirmed that this has been fixed.
- Fixed "Torn clock" tooltip disabling after expanding the "Advanced search" panel.
Stewie reported here that if the "Advanced Search" panel is opened when using the new clock feature the clock disappears. Chedburn acknowledged it should be possible to keep the clock appearing under the advanced search panel, and nikitad confirmed this had been done.
- Fixed issue with purchasing items from shops on mobile devices.
Anblick reports here that while attempting to purchase items from Bits n' Bobs on mobile display, the confirmation of purchase appears and disappears without any items being purchased. Xepa4ep has confirmed this to be fixed.
- Fixed visual glitch when replacing armor / clothing (Hazmat to Helmet for example).
Reagan, and previously Tyrion, reported a visual glitch that appeared to show both a hazmat suit and a helmet being equipped at the same time, even though the hazmat suit should occupy the head armour slot. Xepa4ep confirmed that this had been fixed.
- Fixed loading more items in shops 'sell block' after "Sell all items" action.
Krachas reported here that the "load more items" option shown after selling 40 items to Big Al's does not work. Xepa4ep confirmed that a fix for this had been found.
- Fixed removing used item rows from items table when switching tabs or trying to use another item.
Lordvader85 reported in this thread that when using the last item of a type in his inventory, the item bar persisted rather than disappearing, subsequently producing an error upon trying to reuse it. Xepa4ep has confirmed this has been fixed.
- Fixed "Put a bounty on someone" link appearing while already on the page.
MrDoe noticed while placing bounties on the Torn app that there exists "start again" that appears not to proceed with it's intended function. Stewie pointed out that this issue was not app-specific, and noted that the "Put a bounty" option should only be visible on the main bounty page (and not on the placement page). nikitad confirmed that this had been completed.
Typos
1. Cheb noticed that on the properties tooltip for the Hot Tub upgrade, it was in fact spelt "Hottub".
2. Bumfluff reports that on the "City Stats" page, under job statistics, the sentence "Working as teacher" should read "Working as a teacher".
Extras
1. Tyler observed in this report that when pressing "Enter" to complete the insertion of an image with the bb code text editor, it instead attempts to complete the entire post. Xepa4ep confirmed that this had been fixed.
2. FIDEL-CASTRO reported here an observed difference in the "Last Action" of staff member Mr-Fixer. Chedburn observed this was simply due to a difference in rounding, although agreed to correct it for consistency.
3. Wamboozled reported here that, on the iOS Torn app, every time he clicked the home button, he was redirected to the anti-DDOS page. Stewie noted this was because something was clearing his cache each time, and nikitad confirmed a fix for this had been found.
Honor Bar
This week's new honor bars are "Hairy" and "Backdrop", achieved by unlocking a Hairstyle or profile Background from the Token Shop.
