LOGISTICS WORKERS TOP CHART
Workers at the Logistics Management companies are the highest paid in Torn City, according to a new set of statistics recently released by Chedburn to the Torn City Times. Based on the median pay of every employee in every industry, Logistics Management companies top the charts with an incredible $3 million per day. Television Networks are close behind in second with a median pay of $2 million, followed by Mining Corporations on $1,750,000.
The statistics given to the Times will be used in a forthcoming article to reveal which the worst paying industries are, alongside a separate investigation into the least popular industries based on employee numbers. All of this information will be used to determine which industries are most likely to be boosted under Chedburn's recently announced plans to overhaul poorly-performing companies. This article is scheduled for release on July 15th.
SCHOOLYARD DRAMA?
In Aunty Torn's June column, an anonymous player claimed that four named individuals had been bountying and perma-hosping one of their friends, in an attempt to extort $250 million from him. The player who contacted Aunty then claimed to have been extorted by those same players when he tried to intervene, but luckily for him, he was able to beat them easily.
One of the accused players, Isaacbe, contacted the times to tell us that this version of events is false. Isaacbe demanded to know who had told Aunty this tale, but the Times does not reveal its sources or its sauce recipes. However, for balance, here is Isaacbe's side of the story, where he accuses Greatmightypoo of being behind this supposedly false account.
"He put my name, Tomerbg's name and Harden's name (and one other) that we have been extorting him for 250m. That is simply false. He [Greatmightypoo] is someone I know in real life... The reason he was so mad at us was Tomerbg went on his computer while Greatmightypoo was in the bathroom and sent himself 10m. He then went to slots and won over 100m."
"Tomer then sent the 10m back to greatmightypoo and when he found out he was extremely mad and said he wanted all the money Tomerbg won. All four of the people mentioned are my friends. The only reason myself Harden and Roi were on that list is because we were laughing really hard and thought it was very funny."
That is undeniably quite funny. Isaacbe went on to say that he is being hosped for no reason, and the only thing he's done in retaliation is to send Greatmightypoo a horse's head and offer to sell some of his rare items for a 10% fee - a proposal which Greatmightypoo refused believing it would be a scam. The lesson? Never leave your logged-in Torn account unattended, as the only thing worse than someone stealing your money is them using it to win more.

FOOL ME ONCE
Kermit101 has been at it again! In case you don't remember, last month's local news featured a confession from the aforementioned froggy fraudster admitting how he befriended the leader of Corrupted Mindzmafia and was made co-leader, only to betray his trust and steal hundreds of millions worth of armour and cash. For some reason, Corrupted Mindzmafia asked Kermit101 to rejoin the faction just recently, and... you can guess what happened.
"They asked me back and gave me full permission straight away there was 30 mill in the vault....I've been running donation drives and got it up to 70mill 14 DMB and a few other goodies. The leader's not been active for 4 days - the new leader, that is, after that last one was inactive for 2 weeks when I robbed them the first time. "Nothing has changed the faction is as inactive as ever regardless of how hard i tried to get things going. After nearly 2 years they don't even have medical unlocked lol... Well I've emptied them again... I did it for the DP this time."
PATHETIC POINTS
May's local news report contained a post from Smokey123 where he claimed to have acquired enough items to collect more than 16,000 points on Museum Day, which gave players a 10% bonus to Museum donations. We thought this was quite a good haul, but Boogerball disagrees.
"I should have recorded what exactly I cashed in on museum day, but I know I had 2,000 flower sets, a coin set, and something like 3555 plushie sets. I nibbled at the markets for a bit more than a month building up this hoard, not enough at once to throw any of them into chaos. My only regret was that I waited more than a week of failing process to change my strategy of selling 25 point blocks (to avoid mugging and get better prices) to running to the passenger shop to safely sell more than 40k points at once so I could refill my bank account. That was probably an $80m error."
"Seriously though, the result of a year of collecting was a piddly 16k points? What a noob..."
BAD BETS?
In our previous local news roundup, a player called Abbas accused Delive of giving him bad betting advice. Delive denied these accusations and posted us a chat message proving that he'd attempted to rectify the situation. After we published this article, Ares got in touch to tell us that he too had given up after just two rounds of bad bets from Delive.
"You talk about DELIVE and how he was giving people bad bets. Abbas was not the only one to leave after a few bad bets. I tried working with delive too, and 90% of the bets he gave me failed. After 2 rounds of bets, I stopped taking the offers."
This reporter would argue that a streak of two is hardly a bad run, but if anyone has had a longer streak of bad bets with Delive, please let us know.
CALLING ALL N00BS
Are you a broke new player in need of cash? Then swallow your pride and send a begging mail to Marmar127, who sent us the following brief statement.
In Torn, this is a legally binding contract. And it's not as if he's specified a limit either. So if you ask Marmar127 for eight trillion dollars and he doesn't pay up, let us know.
OCEAN GODS ACCUSED OF EXTORTION
Snow_Fox of Beneficium contacted the Times to expose the behaviour of Ocean Gods, who reportedly hospitalised her and her old factionmates in The Gate due to the actions of one of their members. Mr-Reese, a member of Ocean Gods, admitted to Snow_Fox that his faction targetted The Gate due to their leaders' refusal to remove a member by the name of A-01, who he claimed was a scammer.
Mr-Reese refused to explain to Snow_Fox exactly what their faction member had done, and when a small break in hostilities was requested due to both The Gate's leader and A-01 being offline for several days, Mr-Reese refused. Furthermore, he also demanded the removal of A-01's spouse ElMuerte037 from the faction before he would cease hostilities.
It now appears that Mr-Reese got his wishes, with both A-01 and ElMuerte037 having been removed from The Gate at this moment in time. But Snow_Fox still has questions to ask, most importantly:
"Do senior players get their money by extorting smaller fractions from new factions?"

UNRELENTING HATE
Losing a chain is a painful experience, but if you face off against Unrelenting Medical, it's even more agonising if you win, according to ThirteenMD.
"Unrelenting Medical decided to try and chain on Axiom. After being beaten back and almost having their chain broken they decided to winge to mum about their problems. Unrelenting more than happily obliged with a raid."
Unrelenting's leader ItsZahid did not deny these accusations, and responded with the following comment:
"Unrelenting Medical chaining on aXiom, whether failing or not, is not the highlight of this war anyways... The two of them have been attacking each other since aXiom declared on them during the TUN v Insurgency war. We are simply taking decisive action to prevent further hostilities. Just a lil raid no news here lol."
LUCKY BASTARD
Volskei contacted the Times to snitch on one lucky S.O.B. who apparently has Leslie's children held hostage or something.
"I know a guy who won 2 PIs on the wheel 5 days in between if you're interested. Smitler."
When we asked Smitler whether this sort of thing happens to him a lot, he confirmed that it did.

ZACHJUV'S HEIR
Remember the Vicodin for Xanax scam? It's most famous exponent was Zachjuv, a trader who used to price the two drugs exactly the same in the hope that unsuspecting simpletons would purchase the low-value Vicodin thinking it was Xanax - their images look slightly similar if you aren't concentrating or are tripping balls.
Anyway, Zachjuv hasn't pulled this scam for a while, and his bazaar has been closed for some time; we know this because he was invited to do a Market Report, but declined due to inactivity. In his stead, a few traders have attempted to step into his shoes - which are actually just socks he's covered with gloss paint to trick you. One such wannabe is -LuciousLyon-, who hasn't quite got the hang of this trick, as for the ruse to work, you have to have Xanax in your bazaar at exactly the same price.

A MONEY MAKING TIP
To end this round-up of the local news, let's hear a small trading tip from Sikotiq, who was inspired by one of our recent Market Reports to try his hand at selling on the item market rather than through his bazaar.
Having seen Iribuya's high-rated leather contest take place, Sikotip noticed that people are willing to pay more for the same items on the item market than they are on bazaars. His theory is that the item market loads quicker because he himself used to have trouble accessing people's bazaars when browsing Torn on his phone. To combat this, Sikotiq would buy from the item market for convenience at a higher price - but does everyone do this?
Apparently so. Sikotiq made some good money by selling leather armour via the item market at a high markup - leather armour is the cheapest, so newcomers desperate for protection always plump for it - and this inspired him to try out the trick with other items too.
"I put 5 morphines on at $53,850, which was the cheapest at the time. And sold them all by the end of the day. So even paying the item fee, I still got more than I was getting from my bazaar. Needless to say, I pulled the rest out and added it to the item market. And I sold all I had at the time."
"So this might make an interesting study for someone to do. Or maybe just a nice tip to share with others. I hesitated to tell anyone else because if everyone does it, I won't make as much money!"
