Let's have a look through the latest Patch List as posted by Chedburn to see what updates, changes, and fixes have been made to Torn this month, and what they mean for you.
Welcome to the Patch Notes mega-article! Apologies to anyone who has missed it over the last few weeks, Stewie and I have been on holiday. Anyway, to cover the last four weeks of updates we'll start with the latest honour bars this time!

New Honor Bars


"Wrecked" - achieved by crashing your car, triggered by crashing after the release of this merit.


"Lavish" - achieved by trashing an item valued at $1,000,000 or more, triggered by trashing a valuable item after the release of this merit.


"Bare" - achieved by winning 250 fights while wearing no armour, triggered by winning a fight once achieved.


"Devout" - achieved by donating a total of $100,000,000 to the church, triggered by any donation to the church.


Additionally, a default flag honor for "Sierra Leone" has been added after a request from Bami.


Please note, the updates and bugs documented in this article are worked on by a team of developers. Where a single developer is individually mentioned, it simply reflects who confirmed the report as fixed or complete, and not that they were solely responsible.

Updates, Changes and Additions

- Changed property rental expiration to move users into best available property instead of their Shack.

After a suggestion by Glimph to allow players to select a different "default property" instead of their shack in the event a rental expires, Chedburn decided that the protocol should be to move players to whichever available property of theirs provides the highest happiness.

- Changed inactive employee effectiveness to decrease to 0% over 10 days after the first day of inactivity.

Inactive employees used to have their effectiveness debuffed by up to 50% between 24 hours and 7 days of inactivity. Chedburn has now altered this so that inactive employees will have their effectiveness debuffed by up to 100% between 24hrs and 11 days. This change came after a suggestion from Adrenalinas.

- Changed Detective Agency special "Friend or Foe" allowing for it to be used on a target.

After a suggestion from iribuya, the Detective Agency special "Friend or Foe", which allows a user to view who has added them to their friends or enemies list, has now been extended so that it can be used on a target.

- Changed shops 100 daily purchase limit error to show remaining amount available.

Users may only purchase 100 items a day from shops in the city such as Big Al's Gun Shop or Bits 'n' Bobs. Kalisnikof wrote a suggestion asking for a counter so that users would know how many more items they are able to buy, and Chedburn agreed to add this number in the warning message when attempting to purchase items.

- Changed points and money legacy png icons on mobile top-bar to svg variants.

To improve the overall quality of the site, icons on every page are being transitioned from png to svg formatting.

- Removed Politics and Law threads appearing in Popular Threads panel.

After a suggestion from DeKleineKobini, threads from the Politics and Law subforum will no longer appear in the "Popular Threads" panel.

- Fixed new hunting skill not appearing after a successful hunt.
- Fixed (World Tiger Day: 5x bonus!) not appearing when hunting during the event.
- Added "Back" link to the Hunting page.

MightyGoober made a list of issues and requests in this thread regarding hunting. Chedburn agreed a user's new hunting skill should appear after a successful hunt is performed. A change was also made to alert users when they are receiving the hunting day bonus, and a "back" button was added taking users back to the selection of hunt type.

- Added 'Above market value' warning when purchasing from bazaars.

In an effort to prevent bug reports and reduce the number of players quitting due to losing money from silly mistakes and scams, a warning has been added to bazaars that notifies a user if they are attempting to purchase an item for more than 250% of its market value. This change came a week after iribuya suggested it in a General Discussion post, although it's likely this change was considered long before.

- Added 10,000 quantity bazaar purchase limit (per transaction).

Shane reported here that he was receiving 504 errors after attempting to purchase huge quantities of an item from someone's bazaar. In response to this, Chedburn has imposed a hard limit of purchasing quantities no larger than 10,000 at a time to prevent these errors.

- Added a block to prevent the sending of items and money to users in federal jail.

CloudJumper reported here that he was able to send items to players in federal jail, even though money cannot be sent. Chedburn agreed to prohibit this action as well for consistency.

- Added forced logout from all devices in case of password change, password reset and account recovery.


For security reasons, you will now be signed out of your account on all devices in the event of any password change or recovery process. This was suggested by Tyrion.

- Changed "Times travelled to {Country}" personal stats to be private.

Honor_Scholar reported here that while working in a Theatre company, which has a special preventing other users from viewing where you are travelling, another player was still able to discern where he was travelling based on updates to his personal travelling statistics. In response to this, Chedburn made all individual country stats private, a change that was controversial and will be reversed on the 27/08/19 patch.

- Removed links from the "Latest news" panel from the Login page.

Shane noticed that while logged out, he could not access forum threads that were displayed and linked in a "Latest News" panel on the login page. Chedburn informed us that these used to be accessible, but this ability was removed due to DDoS attacks. nikitad confirmed that links on the "Latest Panel" have now been removed.

- Added news category tabs to Companies page.

After a suggestion from _Scofield_, Chedburn has implemented tabs to the company page for "Main News", "Funds", "Training" and "Employees".

- Added employee's position to Company News when Leaving, Firing or Training.

Junkie posted a suggestion requesting that an employee's role should be included in Company News when they leave the company. Chedburn agreed to implement this, also including being fired or trained.


Bugs, Fixes and Typos

- Fixed "Clubbed" weapon class changing it to "Clubbing" to match "Piercing" & "Slashing".

Helcostr observed in this thread that under "Finishing Hits" the weapon category is referred to as "Clubbed", however on clubbed weapon infocards they are referred to as "Club weapons". Wiber suggested that for consistency with "Piercing" and "Slashing" all instances be changed to "Clubbing", which Chedburn agreed with and confirmed has been done.

- Fixed rounding issues in the stock market, all prices are now rounded (instead of forced down or up).

Pistachio reported that he was losing money when trading in the Stock Market, as the system rounds up decimals when buying, and down when selling. Chedburn has changed this so that all decimals are now rounded down.

- Fixed issue with attacking honors where merits were not being instantly credited in some cases.

Although not specifically reported, merits were occasionally not being credited to players immediately after achieving an honor bar, leaving them with a deficit.

- Fixed issue allowing 'Select all' to select disabled options on faction permissions page.

Skipper reported here that clicking "Select all" when setting faction permissions bypasses restrictions on who can be given permissions such as Full Ordinance, which requires a member being in the faction for 7 days. Chedburn has confirmed this issue was resolved.

- Fixed racing conditions caused by Bazaar / Points market purchases & crimes.


"Racing conditions" occur when two operations are attempted at the same time - such as two users trying to purchase the same item or points, or clicking crimes so fast that two are effectively attempted at once. Measures have been implemented to mitigate bugs resulting from these effects.

- Fixed updating job stats after using job specials.


Smokedkitty994 noticed here that when using the education starter job special "bookworm" to increase working stats, a user's working stats do not show as having been increased until the page is refreshed. nikitad confirmed that this has been fixed.

- Fixed issue with send button for equipped temporary items group.

Proxima reported here that when temporary items are equipped, it is not possible to send any of them to other players in "List" view. Additionally, all owned temporary items can be sent while in "Grid" view, including any that are equipped. Xepa4ep confirmed that this has been fixed.

- Fixed issue with adding items to the display case when owning thousands of the particular item.

Kata reported here that when attempting to add a large number of plushies to her display case, she was not able to, as the button "add" became inactive. Chedburn observed that this was an issue even when adding only single items if many thousands of said item are owned by the user. Xepa4ep confirmed that a fix for this had been found.

- Fixed issue with actions list in faction armoury for loaned items on 'All' tab.

FatP9 reported here that for loaned items from his faction's armory he had options such as "Sell", "Send" and "Trash" when viewing in the "All" inventory tab, which are not appropriate. Xepa4ep has confirmed that this was fixed.

- Fixed 'Gym' and 'Faction' links not appearing after using LSD.

Owen reported here that when using LSD, there is no link to the Gym and Faction as there is with Xanax. Chedburn agreed that this could be added.

- Fixed discord verification issue to overwrite previous accounts.

Helcostr reported here that a friend was having trouble linking their Torn account with the Torn Discord, as it was already attached to a previous account. Chedburn noted that a change was made to potentially help, although it was likely a mistake was being made by the user.

- Fixed "days" declension on profiles when marriage length is 0.

Champion reported here that when married for 0 days, the profile text displayed the non-plural term "0 day" instead. nikitad confirmed this was fixed.

- Fixed "merits" declension on the awards page.

Kalaya reported here that when left with 0 merits left to spend on upgrades, the information text read "you have 0 merit to spend". Chedburn observed this was due to only the number of merits changing on the front-end, and nikitad confirmed that this was fixed to display "0 merits".

- Fixed active "Attack" link on the abroad "People" page while the user is in hospital.

Lordvader85 reported here that while in China and in the hospital, he still had "Attack" links displayed on other players profiles. aurel1 confirmed that these links should not appear, and nikitad confirmed this change had been made.

- Fixed attack log respect gained title in arrest outcome.

177013 reported here that on "Arrest" attack logs, the amount of respect earned does not display after the result. aurel1 confirmed that this had been fixed, and retroactively applied to past logs too.

- Fixed issue with displaying Cut-Throat Razor stats on bazaar manage page.

Sugarcube noticed here that when adding the enhancer "Cut-Throat Razor" to a bazaar, its weapon stats are displayed, even though it is not a weapon.

- Fixed visual issue with removing non-empty Keg of Beer from items page.

Stewie noticed here that if you click on a "Keg of Beer" item in your inventory, and then the "Close" option, the item bar disappears until the page is refreshed. Xepa4ep confirmed this has been fixed.

- Fixed visual issue with item info block on Post Office page.

BOTZIM reported here that on mobile view, item effect descriptions are cut off from the display. Xepa4ep confirmed this has been fixed.

- Fixed issue with active header mode icon after reload in grid view on items page.

Sheep3 reported here that when selecting "Grid View" for his inventory, the page defaulted back to "List View" after refreshing. Xepa4ep confirmed that this has been fixed.

- Fixed issue with cursor pointer blink on tooltip arrow.

_Scofield_ reported here that his cursor blinks between hand and arrow when hovering over the "Trash" button for the tooltip. Xepa4ep confirmed that a fix for this had been found.

- Fixed issue with setting race password when changing page during cars selections while creating custom race.


Sugarcube reported here an issue where users could not join her race because her password was longer than the allowed input for racers attempting to join. aurel1 has now fixed this, with both password inputs being set to 25 characters.

- Fixed issue with Car safety bar when value is 0.


Kary noticed that after adding upgrades to his car to reduce the "Safety" stat, the safety bar appeared to have filled instead of emptied when hitting 0. aurel1 confirmed that this has been fixed.

- Fixed company employees being unable to see their own wage in Employees panel.


Although users are no longer able to see their fellow employees' wages, a recent bug led to users not even being able to see their own wage in the employee company panel. This has been resolved.

- Fixed issue with interviewer producing unnecessary "I'd like to talk about something else" question.


Possum reported here that when interviewing for the "Education" starter job after following through a conversation from "What's it like working here?", an option to select "I'd like to talk about something else" appears, even though selecting it simply returns a menu containing the alternative options.

- Fixed chance of two people finding the same item at the same time in the dump by adding redis lock.


Mechaa reported here that after searching the dump and picking up the resultant item, it did not appear in their inventory. bogie eventually found that this was because two users had simultaneously found the same item, and sent Mechaa a replacement. Additionally, Chedburn added a fix to prevent this occurring again.

- Fixed issue with rate of fire (deducted less ammo than needed) in attacking.


Kam noticed that when they tried using a minigun to expend as much ammo as possible for a mission task, the number of rounds being deducted after each turn was too small, not exceeding the lower bound for the weapon's stated rate of fire. aurel1 confirmed this has been fixed.

- Fixed '$' button on the upkeep page producing an incorrect value.


JeffBridges noticed here that on the "Pay Upkeep" property page the money input field always defaults to entering the maximum amount owed when clicking the '$' button, even if the amount a user has on hand is lower than this. Chedburn agreed that if the amount on hand is lower it should instead be set to this value, and nikitad confirmed that this has been changed.

- Fixed displaying "Elimination" event on the Calendar.


Lord_Amazing reported here that on the Calendar the "Elimination" competition dates were not displayed, leading some users to believe that it had been cancelled. This was not the case but rather a bug, and nikitad confirmed that it has now been fixed.

- Fixed issue with RR clicks streak statistics.


Metaldog reported here that on the RR statistics page the HOF for "Click" streak (where a streak is broken if you fire a chamber that contains a bullet, losing the game) did not make sense as some values were far too high to be statistically probable. aurel1 confirmed there was an issue that has now been resolved.

- Fixed displaying negative graphs on the Personal stats page.


UnknownT reported here that graphs containing negative values did not display correctly, with the line simply bottoming out at zero instead of going negative. nikitad confirmed that this has now been fixed.

- Fixed "Script from the Quran" item names being too long (Shortened to "Quran Script").

In this thread by DeKleineKobini, Chedburn notes that the "Script from the Quran" artefact items have been changed to "Quran Scripts" as their names were too long for certain areas of the game.

- Fixed issue with body part selection on second hit when Rheinmetall special bonus is used.


Rum4nyby reported here that in an attack log against Duke in which he was hit with the Rheinmetall blindfire special, too much damage was dealt against his "right leg" body part. It was eventually deduced that on the second hit during a blindfire turn the wrong body part was printed - although Duke hit the player in the head, "right leg" was printed along with the correct damage. aurel1 confirmed that this is now fixed.

- Fixed highlighting of titles on the profile page when double-clicking.


Tyler reported here that when double-clicking a user's name on their profile, or during an attack, it also selects the title "Name". nikitad confirms that this has been changed.

- Fixed last action not being updated for a user when replying to a message.


Ceb reported here that after checking the profile of someone they had recently received a mail from, their profile reported they had not been active within the timeframe of the mail. This meant that "Last Action" was incorrectly not updating upon replying to a mail, and Chedburn confirmed that this has been fixed.

- Fixed issue with item model images in attacking when 'Skilled Analysis' job perk is active.


Touch reported here an issue when viewing an opponent's model while using the "Skilled Analysis" perk from the Gun Shop. This special allows a player to view their opponent's armour and weapon setup, however, Touch noted that certain pieces glitched and instead displayed the same floating broken image icon. aurel1 confirmed that this has been fixed.

- Fixed issue with red crosses over user option buttons on the Profile page.


vlakstom noticed that the red crosses which block disabled profile buttons were shifted to be misaligned on a user's profile page. nikitad confirmed that this issue has been fixed.

- Fixed icon tooltips on icon settings page to display stat reductions for Drug addiction & Radiation sickness.


CloudJumper noticed that the tooltips for "Addiction" and "Radiation Sickness" do not contain the threshold for which each version is activated. Chedburn has since changed this to include the values at which each icon is used.

- Fixed issue with long names on the Friends / Enemies lists.


MikePence reported here that on the sidebar "Friends List" the last activity time becomes misaligned when the user's name is too long. nikitad confirmed that this issue has been fixed.

- Fixed number formatting in award progress tool-tip.


MightyGoober reported here that on the medals page, certain awards such as 'Earn X respect' do not contain number formatting which uses comma separators in their progress tooltip. Chedburn confirmed that this change has been made.
