Travel item capacity doubled for 48 hours. Thousands expected to depart Torn City to pick up plushies, flowers, children etc.
The citizens of Torn City are now permitted to bring back twice as many travel items as usual from their foreign vacations, thanks to the return of the annual World Tourism Day event which began at noon today - sorry for the late announcement, it's Harley's fault.
World Tourism Day is a 48-hour event which began last year in an effort to boost the stocks of certain items post-Elimination. 2018's edition took place over 24 hours, but this year the promotion has been doubled, meaning that anyone who flies out of Torn between now and noon on Saturday will be permitted to bring back double their usual allocation of items.
For those of you who are new to Torn City, flying is an important part of many players' early game career, as it is one of the easiest and most reliable ways to make money before you gain the ability to scam idiots, code illegal scripts and beat up strangers. Iribuya has helpfully provided a link to his guide to flying if you're interested in knowing how it all works. And if you want to know which are the most profitable items to bring back and sell, he's also provided this handy travel profit guide too. Isn't he a love?
Some of you may have other flight travel capacity bonuses already in effect due to your ownership of a suitcase, your use of a special book or your employment at a certain company. Please note, all of these bonuses will be applied before the double capacity modifier is added, meaning that if you have the maximum possible applicable upgrades, you could be going home with a colossal 88 items in your possession. Good luck hauling all that s***e through the departure lounge. Here's a list of how some of the travel capacity bonuses work on World Tourism Day.
Standard passenger: 5 - increases to 10
Small suitcase: 2 - increases to 4
Medium suitcase: 3 - increases to 6
Large suitcase: 4 - increases to 8
Airstrip owners: 10 - increases to 20
3 Star Cruise / 5 Star Lingerie workers: 2 - increases to 4
10 Star Cruise workers: 5 - increases to 10
Cumber faction special (maxed): 10 - increases to 20
Smuggling for beginners book: 10 - increases to 20
So, if you're the owner of a medium suitcase, you work at a 10 star Cruise Ship and you have the Smuggling For Beginners Book, your standard allocation of 5 would double to 10, and would be increased further by the medium suitcase bonus of 6, the Cruise Ship bonus of 10 and the book bonus of 20 for a mahoosive 46 item capacity. To those of you who know how doubling works, I'm sorry I had to explain this for the members of The Mayhem Boiz.
Players are permitted to travel as many times as they like during the 48-hour bonus window, and all of your flights will have the bonus applied so long as you depart before the event ends at noon TCT on Saturday, September 28th. This remains the case even if your return flight lands long after the event has ended, meaning you could even fly out at 11:59 TCT on Saturday, spend a week in Argentina and still make use of the bonus to bring back a load of Tear Gas and Monkey Plushies one week later if you so desired.
That's a sexy weekend if ever I heard one.
TL;DR: You may bring back twice as much crap when you fly abroad if your flight leaves anytime before noon on Saturday.
