Weekly Patch Notes 14/01/2020

Stewie [1494547]
Let's look through the Patch list for the week of 14/01/2020 to see what updates, changes, and fixes have been made by the Developers, and what they mean for you.
Please note, the updates and bugs documented in this article are worked on by a team of developers. Where a single developer is individually mentioned, it simply reflects who confirmed the report as fixed or complete, and not that they were solely responsible.

Updates, Changes, Additions, & Removals

- Added Faction News search tool.

A new search tool has now been added to Faction News, which will allow players to find what they are looking for more quickly. This was previously suggested by Jefayette, which received a response from Chedburn stating he'd arrange for development time to be spent on implementing it. In a bug report by Tispy, inquiring about an update for when this feature would be added, Chedburn also mentioned that a bunch of other search tools were also in the works. The faction news tabs have also received a redesign to accommodate for this change.

- Added Weapon & Armor quality ratings to item info (0% - 100% based on damage / accuracy / armor / bonuses).

This change, whereby weapon and armor pieces would display a percentage range of their potential, was originally mentioned by Chedburn in an announcement. While this patch originally stated bonuses would be factored in, as of 21/01/2020, bonuses have been excluded.

- Added off-site closure system to correctly display downtime & reason while servers are offline.

A new closure system which will correctly display any downtimes and the reason for offline servers has been added.

- Added ability to set and save gym train quantity as '0'.

This change comes after a suggestion from Smokey123. With this change, it is now possible to set and save these values instantly by simply typing in a new train value, without having to train first. If the value is set to 0, the train button will be disabled for the respective stat, preventing accidental trains.

- Improved messages and logs produced within the trade system to provide clearer information / quantities.

In order to make trade messages a lot more informative, Chedburn made some improvements in regards to the displaying of item quantities.

- Changed "Extraordinary" rarity to "Very Rare": Uncommon, Limited, Rare, Very Rare, Extremely Rare.

This change was made after a bug report by Barbie, who was under the impression that "Extraordinary" was the rarer word. After some discussion, Chedburn opted to change out "Extraordinary" to "Very Rare".

- Changed items with un-updated circulation (0) to show as "Unknown Rarity" instead of "Extremely Rare"

This change comes after Stewie noticed an inconsistency with the displayed rarity when an item hadn't yet updated it's circulation > 0. This was reported to Chedburn privately.

- Changed future Christmas subscriber rewards to provide 3x special refills instead of 500x energy.

Presumably, this was changed to prevent players from losing out on their Christmas bonus energy if they were already stacked at 1,000. While this means only receiving a total of 450 energy, the refills can now be used at a more convenient time.

- Changed newspaper adverts to provide refunds via cashier's checks.

After a report by Roxy, Newspaper advertisements now provide refunds in the form of a Cashier's Check.

- Changed faction Co-Leadership requirement to being in the faction for at least 3 days (from 7 days).

This change comes after a suggestion from Tyler. While the suggestion was to allow factions to optionally remove the 7-day requirement, Chedburn and bogie ultimately decided to lower the wait time to 3 days across the board.

- Changed 'Sellout Slayer' contract to allow direct sales back to shops.

In a report by beesword, they observed that while they had completed all steps of the mission "Sellout Slayer", the tasks list didn't reflect as such. However, this was due to them selling the gun directly back to shops from the Items page, rather than the Item Market or bazaar. Chedburn mentioned that if this is a frequent source of reports, it might just be worth changing it to accept instant sells, and the task could simply be changed to "Sell the gun". These changes were presumably made by aurel1.

- Changed action icons to SVG on Forums, Newspaper & Faction.

The Forums, Newspaper, and Faction pages have each received updates to change action icons to SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format, resulting in better overall quality.

- Changed ordering of Weapons / Armor on the inventory page of the same type to quality descending.

The ordering of Weapons & Armor of the same type on the Items page are now displayed in order of quality from highest to lowest. This was suggested by Rum4nyby.

- Changed Russian Roulette lobby to update every two seconds and removed the refresh button.

aurel1 made these changes after this report by MikePence querying the inconsistency of refresh rates on certain pages, including Russian Roulette, which had a refresh rate of 5 seconds and a manual refresh button.

Bugs, Fixes, and Typos

- Fixed Item Sending & Russian Roulette not updating a user's last action timestamp.

After this report by MikePence, your Last action will now be correctly updated while a user is playing Russian Roulette and sending items.

- Fixed company news to be displayed in 24-hour format like similar areas.

In this report, Nyxa observed that company news logs were displaying time in AM/PM, while the rest of the game was using a 24-hour clock. This was since confirmed to be fixed by nikitad.

- Fixed issue with two category buttons missing from Personal Stats page on mobile view.

It was observed by Harley that the button for "Other" was missing in personal stats while viewing the site in Mobile view. This has since been confirmed as fixed by nikitad. In addition, while going unnoticed, the button to view "Bounties" has also been returned on mobile devices.

- Fixed territory cooldown notification issue.

In a report by Titan, he noted an issue in which the territory cooldown tooltip text had "days" appended to the end in error. This has since been fixed, as confirmed by Kopites.

- Fixed the territory tooltip notification when blocks are split to provide additional information.
- Fixed issue allowing a faction to claim new territories after their existing territory was split while being assaulted.

In this report, Z_Junior observed that a faction had been able to claim territories while currently having their territories split. It is thought that when assaulting a territory, under the split mechanics, it was acting as if the territory was already yours — allowing others that would not reconnect the split territory to be claimed. This was fixed by Kopites.

- Fixed blank graphs in 'item info' when browsing a faction's armory.

In this report by CoolguyRuler, it was observed that the graphs for item value and circulation were blank in the faction's armory. This issue was fixed by Kopites.

- Fixed visual issue on Russian Roulette lobby when expanding an available game while creating a new one.

In a thread by TieMeUp here, it was observed that joining a game of Russian Roulette just before you start your own game would display both games as being started. While aurel1 stated this was just simply an issue with markup classes and wasn't actually affecting anything, he noted that it had been resolved, but wouldn't go live until the following week.

- Fixed issue with spouses appearing as living in your shack and their shack at the same time.

hannes3510 reported an issue here, in which their spouse was shown to be living in two Shacks at the same time. Chedburn noted that it was an issue with the displayed message and that it had been resolved for the next push.

- Fixed Home link navigation from error pages.

In a report by Lugburz, it was observed that the "Home" button did nothing while on non-existent pages. This has since been resolved, with nikitad confirming as such.

- Fixed raw item information appearing in ammo page response.

Presumably from Mauk's bug report, found here, it appears they noticed some kind of data leak. While they had messaged Chedburn with the details, aurel1 quickly marked it as resolved, stating that raw items data was found in the response for one of the pages.

- Fixed display issues with the Awards page tabs on mobile view.

evanarmagast reported here after noticing a text overflow issue with the Awards tabs on a mobile device, in which parts of the text were cut off. This was since confirmed as fixed by nikitad.

- Fixed issue with adjusted hospital time in a mission trigger counter.

During "Slash Wednesday", oldskoolsuzuki noticed the reduced hospital time was not consistent with the Duke mission "Lost and Found", in which you are tasked to put the target in the hospital for a total of 12 hours. While initially, it was thought to be fine as it is, Chedburn opted to just have it changed if it would keep resulting in bug reports each year. aurel1 has confirmed this to be fixed.

- Fixed unexpectedly closing the add friend / enemy form while adding a description.

After a report by Kayo, an issue causing the add friends / enemies panel from closing unexpectedly has been resolved.

- Fixed character validation on bounty reason text.

This issue was confirmed as resolved by nikitad after RandomCC observed specific characters in bounty reasons displaying incorrectly.

- Fixed issue with promotion to Colonel working stat requirements.

In this report by Vurmin, they had noticed being unable to get promoted from Colonel, despite having the correct working stats requirements. nikitad since confirmed this to be resolved.

- Fixed an issue with changing formatting on the text editor in mobile screen view.

While using the forums editor on a mobile device, GavinDymock noticed it being difficult to change the formatting of their post using the buttons (I.e. bold / italics / underline), and could only be done by using a long-tap / hold, as mentioned by Stewie. However, nikitad has now confirmed this to have been fixed.

Honor Bars

"Resolution" — This honor bar is achieved by logging in on New Year's Day. It is also one of a few with the very simple requirement of logging in, with the others being Trick or Treat (Halloween), Torniversary (Torn's Birthday), and Christmas in Torn (Christmas).

"Miracle Worker" — This one is achieved by reviving 10 players within the space of 10 minutes.
