The Ultimate Racing Tournament ended last Sunday, and if you're sick of hearing about a competition you have no intention of ever entering, then you'll be glad to know that this is our final report, you sourpuss.
Our Winter Rally champion was Hammer, who ended the competition with a lead of 40.78 seconds over his nearest challenger, Data. Hammer had a decent start to the tournament and was second after two races, but a disastrous last-place finish in the third race at Uptown looked to have put a major dent in his title challenge.
However, Hammer responded with a stunning victory at Industrial where he finished seven seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Hethen followed this up with a second consecutive victory at Two Islands to take the overall lead of the URT from Archimede. This would be a lead he would never relinquish, and Hammer went on to win two further races at Docks and Mudpit as he streaked ahead of the competition to take the URT Winter Rally crown in style.
"It's been a long goal of mine to win the URT. Always did pretty well in the Night Racers and PRC but never really got anywhere close in the URT - Seriously made up and can't think of another goal now."
Hammer's reward is a Gold Racing Trophy, $1 billion in cash and rare Bugatti Veyron. This will be the third Veyron Hammer has taken possession of in his Torn life, and he now owns two of these prized vehicles outright.
"The first Bugatti I had I swapped with Nesa (Jackpot) for a Gold AK until I needed cash, so I sold it at a great loss (which I do quite often haha). Then I bought ChristmasBazaar's Bugatti from him which I have now. I've just unlisted CBs Bugatti and lost all my Upgrades and enlisted the new one (might sound strange to some) and will probably sell if I get the right offer. If not I may re-enlist and upgrade SR for Convict."

Second place in the Winter Rally went to Data, who recovered from a slow start to take the runner-up spot ahead of Chiubiz. Data only secured his first podium position in the tenth race of this sixteen race tournament, but his win at Meltdown was immediately proceeded by another at Convict, and a series of consistently good times was capped off with a third-place in the final race at Stone Park to seal second position overall.
"This year was similar to last, in which I had bad results early on and then was lucky enough to catch up and obtain a top-three spot. Look forward to and enjoy these competitions, and after years of racing nice to win some good prizes."
Good prizes indeed! Data takes home $750 million and a Silver Racing Trophy, alongside the Class C Audi S3. Data doesn't race Class C, but he admits the Audi is a rare car at the moment. Of course, he'd much rather have the Bugatti, and he is hopeful that one may be on its way to him in the near future.
"Yes second again 6 months ago (in the Summer URT) and third in this last year. Due to this excellent contest, there are now plenty of up and coming racers. Hopefully, I can have enough luck to win the main prize soon."

Pictured: Data has already applied a tasteful wrap to his brand new Audi S3.
Our third-place driver was Chiubiz, who finished seven seconds behind Data and twenty-three seconds ahead of Archimede in fourth. Chiubiz managed five podium placings during the Winter Rally - second only to the six taken by Hammer - with wins at Underdog and Commerce following second at the Docks and two thirds at Parkland and Uptown.
"So far this is my best achievement in Torn racing, unlike my summer rally race where I didn't even get to the finale."
Chiubiz finished twelfth in the 2019 Rally and went out in the group stages of the Summer URT, so his 2020 finish of third marks a major improvement in his fortunes, and he certainly deserves his $500 million, Bronze Racing Trophy and Racing Coin.
"Honestly, I'm probably gonna keep my coins, trophies forever. Gonna put my trophy on display. I'm feeling very pleased, I was close to staying 2nd but couldn't keep it for long.

The final prize awarded during the URT was the Soybean award for the best young driver. This prize of $100 million is traditionally given to a driver who overachieved in the tournament despite their comparatively low Driver Skill score. There were several contenders for the prize this year, including Phool, SinCitySinner and Run-Riot, but the judges (me and myself on different days) decided that Tarun was the most deserving.
"I'm feeling exultant and motivated! From being an underdog to get an unexpected award of "Soybean" on underdog's achievement and doing good on its very first attempt, I consider myself an extremely lucky. I would like to thank you sugar and its associates, donators & contestants for making URT Initiative successful."
Tarun's Driver Skill of 21.6 made him the 27th ranked driver in this tournament, but he belied this lowly position to finish a highly respectable 19th, with Stormcast (53.1) and Rogue (50.3) only just ahead of him in 17th and 18th - a mere 1.10 seconds separating Tarun from Stormcast in the final standings. During the tournament, Tarun ranked up to 22 DS, and this is just one of the things he has worked extremely hard to achieve over the past two and a half years of racing.
"I have been racing actively by the means of 15-17hours a day, these are mostly 100lap custom races. I have 11 cars covering every track. Also achieved DS: 22 and won thousands of races in between."
The highlights of Tarun's tournament were his 4th place finish at Parkland and the two 5th's he secured at Withdrawal and Speedway. But he now has loftier ambitions going forward, as he hopes to get 100 points of Driving Skill and win the URT title - more than once.
"Lol really? Yes, it is! because on my perspective if people are not laughing at your goals, it's not a goal, it's just a propensity."

Pictured: My goals involve writing on post-it notes, but Tarun's are more impressive.
There may not be named prizes given out to all of our Winter Rally drivers, but each one did receive a cash prize, with the value rising by $5 million for each place from a base of $50 million given to 36th. The only exceptions to this were the top eight drivers, who earned $200m to $1bn in increments I made up last month.
Our 2020 cohort was overall a faster group than our 2019 drivers, as is proven by the fact that our 2019 champion Jackpot would've finished fourth with his time from last year. Hammer has therefore set a new URT Winter Rally record with his total cumulative time of 7:46:23.16. But will this be broken in 2021? We shall see... if I remember to track this.
First, we'll have the small matter of the Summer Ultimate Racing Tournament to get out of the way. Qualifiers for the Summer URT will take place in June or July. Please keep an eye out on the newspaper and the racing forum for further details. And in the meantime, make sure you continue to improve your racing skill and support player-run tournaments by entering everything on offer via the Racing Forum.
