Easter Egg Records Broken!

Most popular egg hunt in history sees record crowds take part. Three-way tie for top spot produces new collection record.
Torn's annual Easter Egg hunt ended at noon on Saturday, and the official figures have revealed that this was yet another record-breaking year for our city's yolk-obsessed yokels. 39,039 people took part in the three-week event, a total which represents an increase of 7,167 on 2019. As you might eggspect, this resulted in a much higher number of eggs being collected too, with 214,643 collected compared to last year's tally of 158,041!

There were 437,535 eggs generated this year, with the collection total of 214,643 resulting in a discovery percentage of 49% - a 2% increase on 2019's figures. This means that the people of Torn City are becoming ever more aware of the existence of eggs as time goes on, which should bode well for those with shares in hen's reproductive organs. Each participant collected an average of 5.5 eggs this year, compared to last year's poultry total of just 4.95 eggs. Pathetic.

Albumentioning the individual egg totals later in this article, but first, let's take a look at how many eggs you needed to break into the top 10%, and thus receive the maximum of ten competition tokens. Last year, you needed eleven eggs to achieve this feat, but this year that figure increased by two to 13 eggs - bad cluck if you ended on 12!

One aspect of the egg hunt we've never reported on before is the number of players who exchanged their full set of eggs for a (semi) precious gold egg. This year, roughly 8,750 people traded in their haul of nine coloured eggs for a golden one. For comparison, 2019 saw around 6,100 golden eggs produced, with 2018's total being just over 3,500.

Now, without further ado, omelette you find out how many eggs were collected by our city's top scorers. This year it was a three-way tie for top spot between Ahab, Rob_Snow and Neil_Peart, who each collected 27 eggs, setting a new record in the process - the previous highest total was 26 eggs. Well done all of you. Why not treat yourselves and shell out on some fancy egg cups.

We also had a three-way tie for second-place between cookdandbombd, Tais and CaptainGhost on 26 eggs. A further nine players managed to collect 25 eggs, with nineteen players bringing home 24 eggs - don't eat them all at once! Or do, I'm not your damn mother.

And finally, the results of our Easter Community Events have been posted, with the prizes having been sent out to the winners late last week. If you didn't win, then I guess you were just unclucky. There were some eggsquisite entries this year in all of our competitions, but the very best could be found in our Easter Painting event, 4:20 Just Praise it, and Duke's Island Giveaway.

First, here is a passage from the imaginary Torn bible, as written by herpsac, which explores how 4:20 was received back in ye olden times.

esmokiel 7:10 - The path of the highest man is beset on all sides by the edibles of the selfless and ganja of evil Tornians. Blessed is he who, in the name of O.D.'s and good hash, smokes the sober through the valley of darkness for he is truly his brother's dealer and the finder of lost lighters.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to smoke without five on it. And you will know my name is the Lord, when I finally give you that rare O.D.

Truly inspirational, I think you'll agree. Next up, here is a cracking portrait of The Duke, courtesy of Lemek.

And finally, here are some links to the winning entries in our Island Giveaway singing competition, with each entrant required to sing a song about what it would be like to be stranded on a desert island with Duke. The three winners below have received gold microphones and a free, 90-day stay in one of Duke's fully-upgraded private islands.
