New and improved specials provided for unpopular company type. Company described as useful to new players. Profits boosted to help compete against Sweet Shops, Grocery stores etc.
Torn's Music Stores have had their specials and profits improved in an attempt to attract more directors and employees to the industry. This action was taken to remedy their unpopularity, as Music Stores are the rarest company type of all, with just twenty-six in existence at the time of writing.
Of these twenty-six Music Stores, only five have star ratings, and two of them are rendered inactive by virtue of their lack of customers. To attract investment in this industry, Music Stores have had their profitability increased by a significant unspecified amount. So with just three active competitors in play right now, there is plenty of opportunity for budding company directors to dip their toes into this business, especially as the startup cost for a Music Store is just $1.5 million.
And there should be no problem attracting employees to work there either, given that the Music Store's specials have been improved immeasurably. Whereas the one-star special remains untouched, there is a new special at three-stars, Well-Tuned, which gives players a passive 30% increase in gym experience. This special is unlike any other in Torn City and will help players to level up to better gyms more quickly than usual.
It is expected that Music Stores will now draw in newcomers who are focused on improving their stats, competing against Adult Novelties, Sweet Shops and Grocery Stores for the attention of new players. These industries are popular among newcomers given their provision of saleable Energy Drinks and Erotic DVDs, which players use or sell after purchasing them for job points.
Saleable items help players supplement the meagre wages on offer in some companies. However, Music Stores will be able to offer better wages than GS, SS, and AN's given their significant profit boost, which should help to mitigate their lack of a saleable special. And with just 52 people employed in Music Stores at present, it is very much an employee's market, so Directors may have to be bold and offer attractive pay if they want to staff their stores.
In addition to the introduction of a new special, two of the remaining three Music Store bonuses have also been improved. The five-star High-Fidelity passive still gives the same reduction in enemy stealth, but at seven-stars, the cost of guaranteeing your own stealth by using the Deafened special has dropped from 15 job points to just 10. If you're a player who makes a lot of enemies, the Music Store is the place for you!
And finally, the Music Store’s premium, ten-star special which used to grant a 10% passive boost to all stats has been increased to 15%. If you're struggling to compete while you build your stats, the Music Store will help you grow quickly and mask your lack of stats while you do so. Here is the list of the updated specials in full.
1* Ambience - 50 happiness (1 jp)
3* Well Tuned - 30% increased gym experience
5* High-fidelity - Reduced enemy stealth
7* Deafened - Guaranteed stealth (10 jp)
10* The Score - 15% passive boost to all stats
Note: An additional change has been made to the Rumors special at the Hair Salon. This special has been increased in strength to make it equal to the High-Fidelity special.
