Travelers to Mexico and Canada hospitalized mercilessly on Sunday. Natural Selection members responsible. Stretch hints at global quarantine in near future.
To the dismay of many citizens, a violent quarantine was enforced on travellers to Mexico and Canada last Sunday by members of Natural Selection. In a seemingly spontaneous move, NS fighters FidelCashflow, Blaze and G-STAR01 kept the majority of Canada and Mexico in the hospital for hours on end throughout the day on the 29th of March.
One wonders what would cause someone to go on a cross-continental murderous rampage. When asked, the perpetrators of this heinous crime all gave similar reasons for hospitalizing two entire nations - they were trying to keep infectious people isolated.
"We are facing the greatest global pandemic in modern times. We must quarantine members of the public and shut all borders to contain the spread of this virus!" - G-STAR01
"I doubt most ppl here wash their hands ever…look when we saw ppl still flying during these times we knew we had to take action." - FidelCashFlow

Even doctors were not spared from the international purge, with G-STAR01 seen telling one medic that "you must stay with the patients, in hospital.” When NS leader Stretch was asked about the behaviour of his troops, he explained that it was "just kinda their thing during our chain…it's just a way for our guys to blow off some steam and have some fun I suppose.”
Natural Selection seems to have been bored quite a lot lately, as just last week, NS II were seen annihilating Unrelenting 2 on the island. When Stretch was interviewed by Sugarvalves over this incident, he said that NS II simply "wanted to sow some oats and found a worthy cause."
If boredom strikes again, where will Natural Selection's members turn their attentions to next? Argentina? Switzerland? South Africa? Wherever they go, they're unlikely to face much in the way of resistance. Those who were banged up abroad in foreign hospitals had varying feelings on this forceful forfeiture of free flight, though admittedly, few found the fiasco “fun”.

Most people seemed to resent the enforced quarantine with no shortage of expletives, although we have heard reports that some people went the other way, going so far as to thank those involved for keeping the skies clean. This reviver has heard of no such stories directly, but I can tell you for sure that my fellow healers were grateful for the influx of hospitalized individuals.
Or at least they were, until revivers also fell under the deadly gaze of the quarantine enforcers. According to our sources, some people were so desperate for a revive that the price was hiked to as much as $8m at times. One reviver estimated that, with minimal preparations, their potential earnings from the event could be upwards of $30m.
“Could have stayed and profited a lot more but opted against in the fear of being hosped…they would have paid an average 2m per revive I'd imagine and I was stacked on 400 e so 32m in that moment easily and if I stayed longer more.” - Ginger-Nut
Revive prices rose even further when the healers started to be hospitalized. Completely oblivious of the situation, I flew to Canada to fulfil a paid revive request. However, I only managed to sell a few freelance revives before I was made painfully aware of the consequences via G-STAR01's flamethrower.

Not all revivers were focused on the money, though. Movingp, a citizen hospitalized in Mexico, had nothing but praise for the reviver who helped him.
“I was very pleased that a savior healer came by and did not extort me for the situation.”
The healer in question, wRayth, was “just trying to help.” But if history repeats itself, we may need even more good samaritans like him in the near future. Remember, this type of foreign bloodsport is not unprecedented, as FidelCashflowterrorized showed his love for Canada on Valentine’s day earlier this year.
On that occasion, Fidel managed to lock down an entire country all by himself. This time, two countries were quarantined by just three players. Is this an isolated incident, or the beginning of a more substantial threat? G-STAR01 ominously suggested that the latter was only a matter of time, as he was quoted as saying "It's only Mexico & Canada… for now." And NS leader Stretch confirmed our suspicions that a more widespread quarantine was to be expected soon.
“I am sure as a faction we will do a lockdown… we have done it in Caymans, Canada and Mexico as a faction organized activity. Just a different want to create some camaraderie amongst our members.”
Torn's economy would take a massive hit if international travel were restricted, even for just a day or two. You may think that new players would be the most affected group, given that they rely heavily on flower and plushie runs to supplement their meagre income. But the money pumped into the economy by these new players reaches us all, so if they cannot earn, the rest of us will take a hit to our pockets too.
The question is not “if”, but “when” a worldwide lockdown is enforced, either by Natural Selection or by another big faction. And if I were a betting woman, I'd suggest that a global quarantine is likely to happen sometime within the next month. If it did, this would have the biggest impact on the economy possible, as with Museum Day coming on the 18th of May, there are often more people flying abroad now than at any other time of year.
So if the global quarantine does come, who will stand up to fight it?
