Torn's least popular company receives major profit boost to attract investors. Racing perks removed, replaced with three new attack-focused specials.
Torn City's Gas Stations received a welcome boost today with the news that their special perks have been boosted in an attempt to attract more people to the industry. Pyromaniacs, in particular, are encouraged to dust off their charred CVs and hand them in, as this company is now even more firestarter friendly than it was before.

The first thing employees will notice is that the one and three-star specials, Machinist and Discount Parts, have been completely removed. Whereas Gas Station employees could once exchange job points for racing points and enjoy a 75% discount on all car parts, you will now have to take a job at a Mechanic Shop in order to use these specials. Arsonist, the now obsolete five-star special which used to provide a 25% vandalism success rate and skill gain has also been replaced.
Here are the old specials in full, including the inactive five-star special.
1* Machinist - Racing point (5)
3* Discount Parts - 75% cost discount on car parts (0)
5* Arsonist - 25% vandalism success rate and skill gain (0)
7* Molotov Cocktail - Molotov cocktail (5)
10* Blaze of Glory - 50% Molotov cocktail damage & duration (0)
The original company specials were too broad, as they were designed to appeal to both attackers and racers. With the revamp, Gas Stations will now be geared towards attackers only, especially those who are a little slow off the mark.

The new one-star special is Molotov Cocktail, which has been relegated from the seven-star position and allows employees at all Gas Stations to exchange three job points for a Molotov Cocktail Temporary item. The cost of this special was previously five job points, meaning that staff at even the worst Gas Stations can now acquire a saleable item worth $300k on a much more regular basis.
Once a Gas Station has reached three stars, employees will unlock a new passive special, Fueled, which provides a 25% boost to your Speed Battle Stat. 25% passive Battle Stat boosts are already available for Strength, Dexterity and Defense at the Furniture Store, Gents Strip Club and the Ladies Strip Club respectively. The provision of a 25% Passive Speed boost means that all four Battle Stats are now represented in this manner via the specials system.
At five stars is another new passive special, Cauterize, which gives you a small chance to heal yourself automatically during combat. The statistical likelihood of this event occurring has not been revealed, and there is nothing you can do to make it more or less likely during one particular fight. However, what we do know is that if Cauterize does occur, you will regain 20% of your maximum life bar immediately.

The new seven-star special is Fireproof, a passive effect which boosts your resistance to fire attacks by 50%. As a result, anyone using a Flamethrower, Molotov Cocktail, or any future weapon which deals out burning damage against you will see a 50% reduction in the damage caused. Conversely, the new ten-star special is an upgraded version of Blaze of Glory, which now provides a 50% boost to all burning damage which you yourself deal toward others - this special previously only improved Molotov Cocktail damage.
Here are the updated Gas Station specials in full:
1* Molotov Cocktail - Receive a Molotov Cocktail (3)
3* Fueled - Passive 25% boost to Speed (0)
5* Cauterize - Occasional 20% healing during combat (0)
7* Fireproof - 50% reduction in burning damage taken (0)
10* Blaze of Glory - 50% increase in burning damage dealt (0)
Gas Stations were the least popular company to work for in the entire City before these changes were made, with just 56 people employed in this industry across 11 active companies. Despite their unpopularity, the income made by these companies was reasonably high, as is evidenced by their average income per employee being roughly $230,000, which resulted in a median pay of $100,000.
These figures will now be boosted further by the provision of an unspecified profits boost which has been applied to Gas Stations, meaning that both employees and directors stand to gain greatly from this revamped company. Directors who are interested in moving into the Gas Station industry would be wise to move fast, however, as if the current state of the Music Store industry is anything to go by, these companies will become extremely popular overnight.

Back in April, it was the Music Store which was the least popular company type in Torn, with just 52 people employed in this industry, and only five companies considered active. Today, thanks to their own set of improved specials and profit boosts, Music Stores are the 13th most popular company out of 36 industries, with 467 people employed in the sector and 70 stores considered active at the time of writing.
