Let's see how our twelve Elimination 2020 teams are lined up, and how they've fared over the first 24 hours of life losses.
The first 24 hours of Eliminations have passed, and it's been a rollercoaster of a ride for some teams, with alliances and rivalries seemingly shifting numerous times over the course of the competition so far. Let's take a look at how the teams are lined up and what we've learned so far.

Stretch led Nasty Surprise in 2018 and was part of the victorious Lumberjacks team in 2019 alongside MeanMike. This time the two have gone their separate ways to prove who was the real mastermind behind last year's victory. But with Tornstats' IceBlueFire on board to offer in-depth statistical analysis at every step, the SeaMen still look quite handy, having already emerged from a sticky situation thanks to their huge win total - second highest at the time of writing.
Sea Men looked like they were being pounded from every angle at first, as their tickets were drained into an old tube sock despite maintaining one of the highest win counts - they were second behind Total Bankers at noon on the 12th. But these salty sea dogs are made of sterner stuff and have steadied the ship after losing a few lives in the middle of the 11th. If they can sort out their alliances and maintain their current course, the Sea Men will prove stiff competition for anyone over the next two weeks.

The signing of the 2019 Elimination record-holder Whiskey_Jack was a real coup for Toothpaste, and while one man alone won't determine their fate, his experience must have surely helped during some of their desperate moments in the first 24 hours. Or at least it might have if he hadn't overdosed twice during the competition already.
Toothpaste have nevertheless fared well despite having the third-lowest number of participants at the time of writing. The dentist's favourite have fought through gritted yet beautifully polished teeth and held on to all of their lives, despite dropping to single-figure tickets on several occasions. We hear Toothpaste are still assessing their options regarding alliances and enemies, and that is evidenced by the fact that both their loss and hit counts are relatively low.

The_Boss was part of the team who took Field Mice to fourth last year, having previously led two teams to victory. He leads from the front too, having been 9th overall top scorer in 2018. But he faces a real challenge if he is to drag the Peasants out of poverty, as they currently have the second-lowest number of players in the entire event.
Peasants have lost eight lives so far, and the most tickets they've had is 339, with some teams seemingly having identified them as a team they can attack with little chance of retaliation. Our lower-class citizens have the lowest total of wins registered, and unless they have some strong alliances, they'll do well to make it beyond the first week of the event. CRLF also identified them as the weakest team in the competition.

TerrorBytes have a distinct statistical advantage over their rivals, as not only are they currently maintaining the second-highest participation rate, they also have Torn's resident graph-fondler Andyman among their leadership council. Of course, they also have DUDE on board, but even he's pulling his weight, hitting an impressive 167 at the time of writing - a tally which may have consequences for Andyman, as you'll see if you read our gossip article released in tandem with this piece.
TerrorBytes ticket total has topped 2,000 for most of Elimination so far and even climbed over 3,000 for a while. But late last night something changed, and they're now below 2,000 and falling. The men of metal will have to figure out why that is if they are to avoid an early termination.

Triplicant is an experienced Elimination leader, having taken charge of the Field Mice in 2019 and Necromancers in 2018. But unlike in real life, the Pandemic is slowly ebbing away, with the team having lost 13 lives during the night and struggling to break away from a single-digit ticket total.
Before their run of life-losses, Pandemic managed to stay under the radar by infecting people without unlocking any deadly symptoms, as while their ticket totals were consistently low, there was always someone worse off than them. I don't think Pandemic will quite make it to Greenland, but if last night's run of defeats was a blip, their viral transmissions may just endure into the second week.

FIDEL-CASTRO was part of Keyboard Warriors leadership in 2019, with his team betrayed by long-term allies Lumberjacks for second place right at the death. Heavyweights impressive roster meant they looked like a strong contender early on, and their high ticket total reflected this - until the inevitable coronary struck at 2am on the 11th.
Within just over four hours the Heavyweights' tickets were fat-reduced from 1787 down to just one. And while they avoided losing a life at that time, our fearsome fatsos look like they're the butt of everyone's jokes right now, as they managed to shed 36 lives between 12:15 on the 11th and noon today. It may be that a rival has decided to reduce Heavyweights' power before bringing them back on board an alliance, or it could just be that these fat bastards have a much bigger hitbox. Either way, they need to find a way to stem their losses, lest their next heart attack be fatal.

Bearing that in mind, it's quite remarkable that they've only lost nine lives so far, with their high number of wins (4th highest) the only thing stopping them from doing so. If the Karma Farmers can gain a few upvotes from those who are attacking them, their score would soon turn positive.

They lost twelve lives within five hours on the 11th and shed another two at 9am and 10.45am this morning. STS have a respectable total of wins under their blubber so far, but they're going to have to figure out why their colony is shedding members if they want to avoid extinction.

With a swarm of top players at their disposal, the Murder Hornets caused a buzz at the start of the competition. This may be why this seemingly strong team has lost a few lives already, with their rivals taking ten lives from them so far.
But looking at the experience in their ranks I'd be wary of shaking the hornet's nest on your own. This team has one of the better participation rates and showed they can be stung into action when needs be, as their run of life losses was interrupted by an impressive fightback to 697 tickets early this morning. If the MH are to live up to their potential, the hive must be more consistent going forward.

You know a team is strong when everyone knows they're strong and they still score well. Led by MeanMike and Paul, the bankers have the highest win rate thus far as of noon today, and their comparatively low loss rate means they also have the highest net ticket total at the time of writing.
The money men are yet to drop below 1,000 tickets since the start of Elimination either, and they have a strong participation rate too. Meanmike's Rolodex of Torn bigwigs and his diplomatic nature means he's likely forged a healthy main alliance for his side, plus several good backup ones too. But it remains to be seen whether teams like this will be able to steamroller the competition in the same way Lumberjacks did last year.

CRLF's Team Strength analysis indicates VS are the strongest team in the competition. Furthermore, they have a higher participation rate than anyone else, and their net ticket total is second only behind Total Bankers.
However, after beginning the event with a thrilling rise in tickets which saw them hit a 2020 high of 4,133 tickets, Victorious Secret stripped off at 8 pm last night and lost 1,000 between 8pm and 1am. This event likely worried their leaders, but the fact they've maintained a consistent total since then means VS still look delicious in that lacey two-piece.

Dream Team co-leader Swatsicle saw his side knocked out in sixth in 2019, and his side seems to be faring rather averagely this year too. An incredibly strong start took the Norsemen to 3,408 tickets on the 11th, but just as the Eliminations began, so too did wave after wave of attacks on their members.
By 2am on the 12th the Vikings' longships were all ablaze, with their team having been dramatically reduced to a single-figure ticket total. They've been unable to clamber off the bottom as yet, but Odin must be smiling on them, as they've been lucky to only lose three lives so far. The Vikings are clearly capable of putting up a good fight, but they'll have to show that soon if they are to avoid being sent to Helheim in disgrace.

Dream Team co-leader Swatsicle saw his side knocked out in sixth in 2019, and his side seems to be faring rather averagely this year too. An incredibly strong start took the Norsemen to 3,408 tickets on the 11th, but just as the Eliminations began, so too did wave after wave of attacks on their members.
By 2am on the 12th the Vikings' longships were all ablaze, with their team having been dramatically reduced to a single-figure ticket total. They've been unable to clamber off the bottom as yet, but Odin must be smiling on them, as they've been lucky to only lose three lives so far. The Vikings are clearly capable of putting up a good fight, but they'll have to show that soon if they are to avoid being sent to Helheim in disgrace.
