Halloween Heals: Gettin' Spooky!

Surgical Precision is expanding their Holiday Heals event, beginning with Halloween this year! Trick-Or-Treating just got safer....
We are less than 24 hours away from the start of Trick or Treat, and with this expanded event now lasting for seven days, you can expect plenty of bloodshed over the Halloween period. Factions will fight. Players will pummel each other. And healers like us will do our best to keep you all out of the hospital in return for a healthy fee.

Except on Halloween.

That's right, Torn. The same faction who brought you the Holiday Heals last Christmas is back with a brand new freevive event that takes place on October 31st. For one night only, Surgical Precision will be freeviving anyone and everyone unlucky enough to get mugged, hosp'd, left bleeding out on the street, or toughing out perm-bounties in this dank and murky underworld!

Our original Holiday Heals event was borne out of a desire to spread kindness and goodwill throughout Torn. We even invited revivers to come and join our faction to help out - something we're doing again this Halloween - where they could take advantage of the fact we have all of the healing perks unlocked. A freevive is much cheaper at 25 energy per pop!

The reason we're doing this again over Halloween is that we want to expand our freevive offerings to other events throughout the year. And in preparing for this, I discovered some things about All Hallows Eve that I didn't know. I was under the impression that it was based on Dia de los Muertes, or The Day of the Dead, a two-day Mexican celebration famous for the sugar skull designs participants use to adorn their faces.

However, I soon discovered that Halloween is based on the ancient Celtic festival Samhain (pronounced sow-in), which was first celebrated over 2,000 years ago. The Celts, who inhabited modern-day Ireland, France, and the United Kingdom, believed that on the night before November 1st, the start of the Celtic New Year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred.

It was during this time when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to Earth. The Celts wore costumes on Samhain in order to ward off these malevolent specters, paving the way for a happier new year for all. But to me, this sounds like another reason to get wasted and dance naked around a fire! Trust me, costumes can't scare the dead quite as effectively as a hairy naked redneck, no matter how malevolent they are!

Luckily for my faction, getting high and dancing naked isn't on the table, but a costumed revive event most certainly is. For Surgical Precision, the Holiday Heals event are a win-win, as they combine shameless attention whoring for yours truly with a welcome distraction for our legions of bored revivers.

Fresh off a brief hiatus after our last revive contract, our healers are already stacking in preparation to do what they do best: raising the dead while simultaneously ignoring every single newsletter our frustrated leadership team sends them! And inspired by our order-avoiding healers, we've made a short promotional video to announce our Halloween Heals event to the world.

The Surgical Precision faction will be staking out the hospital pages and trade chat throughout October 31st looking for people to revive for free. If you're too shy to reach out and ask, we'll revive you anyway, just make sure revives are turned on - or off, if you're trying to self-hosp. And if this sounds like something you'd like to participate in, we still have a few slots open for guests or those looking for a permanent home. We welcome those who are willing to have fun and leave the drama to the professionals.

So go out and wreak havoc this Halloween, and know that whatever creek you end up in without a paddle, Surgical Precision has your creepy, spooky, and slutty asses covered!
