Halloween event returns October 27th. Event boosted to one week in length. Find out what we've changed and what you can win by reading our short rundown.
Trick or treat, trick or treat, give me something good to eat... or drink... or inject into my thighs.
That's right kids, Torn's annual Trick or Treat event is back, and this year we've extended it from 48-hours to one whole week! Trick or Treat will run from the 27th of October until the 3rd of November (kickoff time TBC). But what the hell is this event? What have we changed? And why should you bother taking part?
THE BASICS

To take part in the Trick or Treat event you need to purchase a Halloween Basket from Sally's Sweet Shop if you don't have one already. These baskets cost just $35 and will be available as soon as the event begins. While Sally's stock of baskets is limited, the greedy, ginger old b***h will restock every fifteen minutes.
Once you have this basket in your inventory, every attack you win against another player during the event has a percentage chance of earning you a treat. These treats cannot be taken by other players and will accumulate in your basket as you win more and more attacks.
Your treats can be exchanged at any point during the competition for a selection of items, such as candy, alcohol, cans... and more! As you collect more treats, your basket will level up, with each basket level increasing your chance of receiving a treat after a successful attack.
WHAT WE'VE CHANGED

This year, in addition to the basket levelling system, we've added a slew of secret basket upgrades which you can purchase using your treats. Certain basket levels will unlock new upgrades which improve upon your old ones. This feature is for players who intend on taking part year after year, as over time, your upgrade choices will give you get a better stash of items and other special benefits when you eventually exchange your treats.
The exact nature of the upgrades is to remain secret until players unlock them, but you can expect to receive a higher quality and quantity of items the more upgrades you add. Furthermore, the nature of some upgrades means that some known Trick or Treat strategies from previous years will no longer work unless you have the right upgrades.
Unfortunately, the nature of the improvements we've made to the event means we can no longer offer a brand new mask item to the top 250 treat collectors. We are still going to release a new limited-edition mask, but it will instead be paid out to those who place highly in our slate of Halloween Community Events to be announced on Wednesday.
WHY SHOULD YOU BOTHER?

The upgraded payouts we're offering this year makes Trick or Treat a truly unmissable event, with the value of the rewards on offer making it more than worthwhile to both individuals and factions. Unlike Dog Tags, you can attack the same player more than once and still receive treats, so this is the perfect time to go out massacring inactives and harvesting their goodies and / or organs.
Trick or Treat is also the perfect time to start a chain or unprovoked faction war. While your troops are hacking away at foes out there on the battlefield, their treat stashes will build up in the background the more people they defeat, as will the level of their Halloween Baskets. One player's treat stash alone often results in a valuable payout of items, so just imagine what a whole faction could earn in one week!
Did you imagine it? Good. I'm glad. It's fun to imagine, isn't it?
TL;DR: Trick or Treat is now one week long. 27th-3rd.
