Find out how to use World Diabetes Day to land the Ecstatic honor bar for achieving 99,999 happiness.
World Diabetes Day returns at noon on Friday the 13th of November. This 48-hour event triples the happiness effects of all candy items, which is good news for anyone who stocked up during the recent Trick or Treat event. But how can you use this day to good effect? What is Happy good for?

Your happiness level has a huge effect on crime success rate and gym gains. Some players will spend WDD munching lollipops and burning warehouses, whereas others will be stuffing their face with chocolate and heading to the gym. Wory's guide on how new players can use candies to perform happy jumps is a good start for anyone looking to boost their stats on WDD.

But in this article, we're going to look at how you can use World Diabetes Day to achieve the Ecstatic honor, which is awarded to players who overclock their Happy bar to the maximum of 99,999. A player with 99,999 happy will gain around 20% more stats than usual at George's Gym, giving you two good reasons to try this if you don't already have the award.

Five years ago, I wrote a guide to achieving the Ecstatic honor in a number of different ways. I've updated it several times since, but the use of World Diabetes Day has not yet been added. So let's find out how you can make the most of this event to achieve 99,999 happiness. First, some basic tips.

SHUT UP

People are evil, and if you announce that you are going for the Ecstatic merit on the forums or to untrustworthy people, there's a chance that someone (Champion) will use embargo or happiness reducing items to spoil your day. Keep quiet about your activities until you are done.

PLAN YOUR TIMINGS

Regardless of how high you push your happiness bar, your happiness will reset back to your base every fifteen minutes at xx:15, xx:30, xx:45, and xx:00 on the hour. Your base happiness is determined by your current property and the upgrades and staff you have purchased, with temporary happiness gained from consumables added on top of this.

If you want to use all of the happiness you've accumulated using boosters, you must time your happy jump properly so it doesn't expire before you can use it. For example, if your base happiness is 1,100 and you use boosters to hit 99,999 at 11:05am, you will have ten minutes before it resets back to 1,100 at 11:15am.

STOCK UP ON SUGAR

There are multiple ways to achieve the Ecstatic honor, and almost of them require consumables to get you to around 50,000 happy. At this point, you need to use an Ecstasy to double your happy and take you beyond the 99,999 mark. Candies are rarely used to achieve this, but on World Diabetes Day, there are several ways you can implement sugary snacks into the Ecstatic method.

Below you can see a list of candies and their price per happy point on World Diabetes Day. These prices were rough averages and calculated on the 4th of November. The price of candy will likely have changed by the time this goes out, but this chart gives you an idea of how each bracket of candy is priced relative to each other.

FACTION SPECIALS

Each candy has a cooldown of 30 minutes. Your maximum cooldown is 24 hours, but you can go slightly above this through the use of one additional item which takes you above the cooldown limit. This means you can eat a maximum of 49 candies before you have to stop. However, if your faction has the maximum Voracity upgrades applied, this total is increased to 97. Here are the maximum happiness amounts you can gain solely from each candy with and without the max Voracity perk on World Diabetes Day.

It's going to be hard to get close to the magic 50,000 mark with candies alone, but with Voracity maxed out it is possible. Assuming you have a base happiness of 5,025 from a maxed-out Private Island, you would need 60 Birthday Cupcakes or Golden Eggs to reach your goal. This method is extremely expensive, however, as you're looking at a cost of roughly $162 million for all those candies.

97 Pixie Sticks at a cost of $66 million will get you to 43,650 happy. When combined with a maxed-out PI providing 5,025 base happy, this gives you 48,675, resulting in 97,350 when doubled with an Ecstasy. That is agonisingly close, but you can reduce the number of Pixie Sticks by two and use your final drop of cooldown to leap over the line with one Erotic DVD for a total cost of around $68 million.

Private Island Happy = 5,025
95 Pixie sticks = 42,750
1 Erotic DVD = 2,500
Total = 50,275
Ecstasy x2 = 100,550

This cost can be brought down further if your faction has unlocked the full secondary Voracity tree which increases the happy gain from candy by 50% (5% per upgrade). With this tree active, you can get away with using fewer Pixie Sticks (63 to be precise) or lower-tier candy such as Chocolate Truffles using the exact same method as above. Given that Truffles provide more happy per dollar, we'd advise using a higher quantity them over a smaller quantity of Pixie Sticks.

95 Chocolate Truffles will cost you just $15.2 million. With an Erotic DVD and an Ecstasy, this gives you a price of $18.2 million to achieve Ecstatic, which is by far the cheapest we've found. Obviously, you'll need to mix and match depending on what candy you have available, but eating large quantities of candy is a bonus in itself, as it will help you earn the Diabetic Honor Bar, which is given to anyone who has eaten 500 Bags of Candy.

Private Island = 5,025
95 Chocolate Truffles = 42,750
1 Erotic DVD = 2,500
Total = 50,275
Ecstasy = 100,550

This is the cheapest way of earning Ecstatic, but clicking 95 times in a row is tedious. If you choose this method, make sure you begin at exactly 00, 15, 30, or 45 on the hour, and have your gym or crime screens ready to go for when you pop the Ecstasy. If we return to Pixie Sticks, which now provide 675 happy per item with the maxed-out Voracity secondary tree, the process of getting to 50,000 happy is less taxing - especially if you use Erotic DVDs to finish the job.

Private Island = 5,025
52 Pixie Sticks = 35,100
4 Erotic DVDs = 10,000
Total = 50,125 happy
Total with Ecstasy = 100,250

This combination offers you the lowest number of clicks for the lowest price possible when taking cooldowns into account. It took me only a few minutes to race through 52 Pixie Sticks, leaving plenty of time to use your happy before your yellow bar resets. You'll pay roughly $44,620,000 for all of this, and this can't be lowered if you're combining Pixie Sticks and E-DVDs, as you'll go beyond the 48-hour cooldown limit - unless, of course, you have a company special too.

COMPANY SPECIALS

The first company special I mention in my guide is the 10* Novelty Shop perk, which gives players a 100% passive Erotic DVD boost. This means that all E-DVDs now provide 5,000 happy, giving them a rating of $600 per happy point, 817 happy per hour of cooldown. Here's how that compares to candy cooldown ratings on WDD.

9 E-DVDs will give you 45,000 happy off the bat. Add in your max PI and an Ecstasy and you can get the 99,999 honor for just $27 million. If you're in a 10* Adult Novelty then there's no need for you to use World Diabetes Day, unless you're really frugal, belong to a max Voracity faction, and have some candy lying around already.

Outside of the Adult Novelty store, there are plenty of other company specials which mix nicely with World Diabetes Day. Employees in a Farm, Candle Shop, Property Broker, Music Store, Toy Shop, and Zoo can all swap one job point for 50 happiness. If you have a max PI and you use the maximum of 49 Pixie Sticks, you'll only need to spend 459 job points to reach 50,000, instead of the usual 650 in my original method. Using candies is more expensive than E-DVDs, but if you have them spare from Halloween, or you can make them more effective with faction perks, this is a good way to use them up.

Private Island = 5,025
49 Pixie Sticks = 22,050
459 Job Points = 22,950
Total = 50,025
Ecstasy = 100,500

The 10* Sweet Shop also provides 4,500 happy in exchange for just 30 Job Points. Once more, you can use candy to replace some of your job points and E-DVDs if you have some spare, or you want to keep your job points and pornos for another time. The Sweet Shop also gives happy for Job Points at rates of 1 / 50 and 10 / 1,000, meaning you can use these different increments to avoid wasting points unnecessarily.

Private Island = 5,025
49 Pixie Sticks = 22,050
150 Job Points (10*) = 22,500
9 Job Points (1*) = 450
Total = 50,025
Ecstasy = 100,050

Another useful special is the 10% consumable cooldown reduction available at the 3* Grocery Store, which is joined by the 10% consumable boost at 7* stores. This results in all candies giving you a cooldown of 27 minutes instead of 30, meaning you can consume 54 candy items instead of the usual 49. With Pixie Sticks, this gives you a max happy of 24,300 from those items, which is boosted to 26,730 with the addition of the 10% consumable boost.

The 25% consumable cooldown reduction at the Restaurant allows you to take 65 candies in 24 hours, resulting in a max happy of 29,250 from those items alone. If you don't work in any of these industries, remember that the 3* Amusement Park special can provide anyone with 250 happy in exchange for 10 job points. If you know someone who works at this company, you may be able to make up any gaps using this special, but we cannot accurately estimate how much this will cost.

BOOKS

The last thing you can use to help you gain more happy from Candy on World Diabetes Day is a book. Ignorance is Bliss is a great book which allows your happiness to regenerate above maximum for 31 days, so you could feasibly combine this with any other happiness strategy mentioned to get to the magic 99,999 total over a longer period of time.

Another good book to use would be Self Control is For Losers, as this decreases all consumable cooldowns by 50% for 31 days. This basically replicates the max Voracity faction perk, as it allows you to consume double the usual number of candies in a day. Combine it with the Voracity perk and you could eat 193 candies in 48 hours. If you can click nearly 200 times in 15 minutes and you want to get through some unwanted candy, why not go for it!

Given how useful Self Control for Losers is, you should only consider using it for this challenge if you are also going to be using lots of other consumables before it expires. Yes Please Diabetes is a more appropriate book, as this doubles candy effects for 31 days. On World Diabetes Day, this would result in Pixie Sticks providing 900 happy per item, so 49 would get you to 44,100 happy. Add in a Private Island and you'd be just short of the total needed to double up with an Ecstasy, so you should instead use 48 Pixie Sticks and one Erotic DVD before taking an E.

Private Island = 5,025
48 Pixie Sticks = 43,200
1 Erotic DVD = 2,500
Total = 50,725
Ecstasy = 101,450

SUMMARY

So that's how you can use up your candy stores to gain a merit and make some gym gains on World Diabetes Day. If there are any mistakes or additions you'd like to point out, please contact Sugarvalves. In this guide, we've relied mostly on Pixie Sticks as our chosen candy item, as we found they sat at a happy medium in terms of expense and cooldown impact. But if you have a mixture of candies in your inventory you'll need to calculate which of these strategies is feasible for you based on the passives you have available.

Another factor we haven't considered is the use of drugs, with PCP and Shrooms adding 250 and 500 happiness each. You absolutely cannot use these to add a little more happy to your bar before doubling with an Ecstasy, as you won't be able to use that vital E if you're already on a cooldown from another drug. Don't make that mistake on World Diabetes Day, when the only white powder you need is found inside a multicoloured straw.
