Find out what score you need to get into the top ten, our early estimate for the 10 token cutoff, and which player is offering to help taggers identify targets for a small fee!
We are just four days into the Dog Tags competition and it already looks like this year's edition will be a close fight indeed. Our top tagger has a lead of around 3,000 over their nearest rival, but only a further 3,000 separates 2nd and 5th, with the rest of the pack another 4,000 behind. Here are the standings which were correct as of 16:00 TCT on Monday the 9th of November.
DOG TAG STANDINGS
1st - 16,993 points - 382 tags
2nd - 13,813 points - 276 tags
3rd - 12,168 points - 241 tags
4th - 11,584 points - 345 tags
5th - 10,839 points - 367 tags
6th - 8,082 points - 309 tags
7th - 7,649 points - 193 tags
8th - 7,179 points - 116 tags
9th - 7,066 points - 153 tags
10th - 6,719 points - 179 tags
Having seen the identities of our top ten I recognise a few major names in there, but there are some new faces flying under the radar too. At roughly the same stage last year our leader was far ahead on 17,005 points, with second on 12,854, third on 9,987, and 10th on 5,272. As you can see, the points seem to be spread out more evenly across the top ten this time around, but our 1st place player is certainly in a strong position, given that they are only 12 points behind the total that Penicillin had after three days in 2019.
Penicillin went on to win Dog Tags 2019 with a record score of 42,682, so our current leader is certainly in with a shout of topping that, especially given that participation is up on last year's event. 244,950 tags have already been stolen after four days, whereas only 174,650 were taken after three days in 2019. This means that roughly 61,000 tags are being taken per day at the moment, compared to last year's figure of 58,000.
As a result, it is likely that all players will need to up their game if they want to place highly in this year's competition. In 2019, you needed 727 points to get the maximum 10 competition tokens, but just 290 to get yourself 9. Based on the figures we've seen so far, we're going to put our necks on the line and estimate that you will need around 764 points to gain the maximum haul of competition tokens this time around.
And if you need some help in achieving this or indeed any Dog Tag goals, Kelsie is once more offering her services to help you track down tag targets for a fee of just $5 million for every ten successful hits. Kelsie has worked as a tag target specialist for two years now and has become rather adept at identifying players who she knows have tags to take.
"So, I really enjoy doing this and helping all kinds of folks out. I’ve helped newer players, and even those in HOF factions too. I initially started doing this back in 2018, and mainly just helping my faction mates find tags. Then figured, why not open it to the public? I’m very big into helping and enjoy meeting new folks."
"Last year it really took off. I spent hours upon hours searching for tags (and most of them landed with a tag). I have been able to juggle 4-5 people easily at a time, just sending targets over and over. I haven’t kept count, but I’ve helped A LOT of people get their Dog Tag Merits, which is super satisfying!"

This year, Kelsie is offering her services for free to those who are under 75 days, and only charges players above that - although she will give you a couple of freebies on the house if you ask nicely. Kelsie estimates that she earned a few hundred million thanks to her hours of searching last year, and I'm sure she'll have many more happy customers on this occasion too.
Kelsie's efforts are generous enough already, but even more so when you discover that she is currently planning her real-life wedding at the same time as hunting down tag owners. So if the table decorations aren't quite right and Cousin Susan is sat next to that bitch Aunty Carol who she hates with a passion, I guess we'll have Dog Tags 2020 to blame.
Oh, and if you've had your tag stolen by Shirley Prima Dante Calabrese, a.k.a. The Duke, you can expect it to be returned imminently.
