Triple candy boost in effect for 48 hours from noon on Friday. Secret items set to spawn on Torn's anniversary too. Read our article to find out what, where, and when.
World Diabetes Day starts at noon on Friday, with all candies set to provide three times as much happiness as usual for forty-eight hours. And if that’s not enough, we’re also going to celebrate Torn’s anniversary by spawning two items on the city map. Read on to find out where and when you can grab yourself some goodies.

If you're unsure as to when World Diabetes Day begins because you're inexplicably incapable of reading the clock in the bottom left corner of the page, why not use our fancy new News Ticker to keep track of how long you have to wait. The Ticker will occasionally show a headline regarding current or forthcoming events alongside a timer which counts down to their beginning or end. You can scroll through headlines on the ticker by clicking in the empty part of the striped display bar, or on the text itself if it isn't a hyperlink.

You can use the World Diabetes Day bonus event to achieve a number of things, as extra happiness increases your chance of success during crimes, and it also raises your gains at the gym. There are numerous threads in the Tutorials and Guides section of the forums which explain how to use chocolate to do a happy jump, and how to employ other candy items for the same purpose. Furthermore, Sky’s article from the weekend explains how you can also use WDD to achieve the Ecstatic merit by using candies in place of other methods.

Of course, to make use of WDD you’ll need a large supply of candy, which you may or may not have leftover from the Trick or Treat competition. If you’re still looking to purchase candies, be aware that while many of the smaller items have either maintained their price or only risen slightly, the top tier candies have significantly gone up in value - something we predicted in the latest Market Report.

Those of you who kept the News Ticker enabled will have noticed that Bags of Chocolate Truffles have increased in price by 75% this week, with Pixie Sticks, Jawbreakers, and Sherbet all experiencing a large rise too. However, the three 150 happy candies have all lost those gains recently, whereas 100 happy Truffles seem to be maintaining their price. Precisely which candy you plump for depends on what you hope to achieve during World Diabetes Day, and how much liquid cash you have available.

But if you're broke and have no candy to spare, you could hold off your happy jumps until the last twelve hours of World Diabetes Day, as if you’re lucky, you might get an extra item to help you in your quest. World Diabetes Day expires at noon on the 15th, and this overlaps with Torn’s 16th anniversary, during which you may see Birthday Cupcakes and Strippogram vouchers spawn on the City Map.

Birthday Cupcakes provide 250 happiness and will be found in the area surrounding Sally’s Sweet Shop on the City Map. Meanwhile, Strippograms will spawn around the Red Light area (see the image above) and these can be used to provide 2,500 happiness to any other player in Torn City. If you manage to find one, you’ll have to send it to a friend and hope they’re trustworthy enough to use it on you!

Only 9,600 Birthday Cupcakes and 2,400 Strippograms will spawn during Torn's 16th anniversary, which runs from 00:00 on the 15th until 23:59 on the same day. The two items have differing percentage chances to appear on your map every fifteen minutes, meaning you are four times as likely to see a Birthday Cupcake spawn than a Strippogram Voucher. These items will only spawn for players who are Level 5 and above, and who have been online within the previous 6 hours.

tl;dr: Triple happy from candy from noon 13th to noon 15th. Birthday Cupcakes and Strippograms may spawn on the City Map for the 15th only.
