Festive frenzy set to begin as Christmas Town prepares to open its doors. Three new mini-games available in massively optimised update to CT. One month left in Make a Map contest. Gold AK offered.
Christmas Town is set to open as planned on Wednesday the 16th of December, with three new mini-games and a whole heap of optimisations waiting for you in the yellow snow.
If you are new to Torn City, Christmas Town is a self-contained winter wonderland which players can explore in search of mini-games, prizes, adventures, and roaming NPCs who may or may not be nice to you. Many players find that the rewards gained from Christmas Town are able to sustain them for many months after it has closed, so make sure you take a trip to our little merry amp to secure yourself some cans, boosters, and many other treats and trinkets.

Despite what the official Calendar indicates, the release of Christmas Town is not scheduled for noon exactly. Instead, Christmas Town will be made available randomly at different times throughout the day for different players. There is no specific system in place to determine which players are prioritised for CT access, but if the universe is a just and fair place, anyone who believes that Bill Gates wants to inject Windows XP into your grandmother's oesophagus will be last in line.

The original and magnificent Christmas Town map created by Amonette is large and elaborate enough that players will find it tough to explore every nook and cranny before CT closes on the 31st of December. As we've already mentioned, there are a few new additions to the base map this year, with even more updates made to the object library, a repository of placeable artefacts which is available for players to create their own customised maps using the Map Editor.

The Map Editor was first introduced in 2019 with the intention of allowing players to build interesting Christmas Town maps of their own design. And if you'd like to know how to use the editor, Proxima's guide is a great way to start. Sadly, upon its release, some people chose to use the map editor to create simple loot runs to allow players to gain as many resources in as little time as possible from Christmas Town. These players have now been bare-bottom spanked by Scrooge, which has only served to encourage some of them to do it again.
To combat these loot runs, the Make a Map competition was launched earlier this year, with players tasked with the creation of a map which sends players on an adventure, tells a story, or which gives them an interesting creative experience. The winner of this competition will win a Gold AK - one of the most expensive items in Torn - with runners-up also receiving high-value prizes. This competition still has nearly a month to run, with entries accepted until the 10th of January 2021.
tl;dr: Christmas Town opens properly at some point tomorrow. You can explore Christmas Town when it is released by clicking this link with your festive fingers.
