Find out what's happened so far in the 2021 Winter Rally, how you can win millions by predicting the result, and when our free-for-all prize races will take place!
The Ultimate Racing Tournament 2021 Winter Rally is almost at the halfway stage, with just eight races left to determine this year's champion after tonight's meeting at Sewage. Here's a short rundown of the event so far, along with all of our qualified drivers' ranking details, and news of how you can win big money even if you've failed to qualify!
THE HALFWAY STAGE
The top three is tighter than a duck's a**s right now, with just 0.69 of a second separating Data, selits, and Storm1968 after seven races. No fewer than thirteen drivers are all within 60 seconds of the top spot, with this year's rally looking like it will go right down to the wire!

Storm1968 got off to the best possible start by securing wins in the first two races of the tournament. The opening race at Speedway saw Storm1968 beat off competition from Dilandu and Ketone to take an early lead, and he repeated this feat at Industrial, with Bronx and Nath taking the other podium spots. This resulted in Storm1968 having a 16 second lead over Bronx after the first two races, with Data just over one second behind in third.
On the flip side of the coin, Rogue got off to the worst possible start by missing the first race without prior warning, thus receiving a penalty time equivalent to the slowest driver's time plus 1%. In the meantime, Dilandu took the lead of the rally by two seconds after winning the third race at Convict ahead of urbanmenace in second and Stormcast in third. Our leader Storm1968 finished in 24th position, but Dilandu's joy at topping the leaderboard would soon turn to despair down at Parkland.

Pictured: Crashy crashy.
Stormcast was the first to crash out at Parkland when he wrecked his Honda NSX early on lap three, and tournament leader Dilandu followed suit towards the end of lap seven. A new ruling meant that the penalty time for crashing was reduced from the slowest time plus 1% to a maximum of 0.75%, with this percentage reduced depending on how much of the race the driver had completed.
Unfortunately for Stormcast and Dilandu, our slowest driver that day was LumbricuS, whose racing skill is the second-highest in the tournament. He was the only driver to take over an hour to cover 20 laps on this track, and given that Parkland is the second-longest track in Torn, this meant that Stormcast and Dilandu's penalty times were severe. Both were dropped to the back of the pack as a result, along with LumbricuS, whose tournament was not off to a good start either.
The winner at Parkland was ScHiZoPhReNiC, with selits turning in an impressive performance to take second, and Data proving consistent as ever by securing third. This result meant that Data took top spot ahead of ScHiZo in second, with selits in third, and Storm1968 falling down to fourth. Rogue's fourth position allowed him to recover a huge chunk of time and rise up the rankings. Was the Winter Rally about to bear witness to the start of an epic comeback?

Pictured: Yes.
Race five at Underdog was less eventful, but it did see the start of LumbricuS' potential recovery, as he stormed to victory eight seconds ahead of Rogue in second, whose tournament prospects were now looking a lot brighter indeed. WAGA took third, whereas our tournament's top dogs all finished outside of the top ten. Nevertheless, Data extended his lead over ScHiZo to seven seconds, with selits surprising everyone by taking up third position a further three seconds behind.
Our sixth race at Meltdown saw Stormcast get up and running with an impressive eight-second victory over t1me, who himself finished two further seconds ahead of ScHiZoPhReNiC in third. Data's lead was cut to five seconds due to his seventh-place finish, and ToxicMonkeyMZC entered the top three for the first time ahead of selits. Rogue also took another fourth place here to put himself right back in contention for the title, as he catapulted into the top ten just 36 seconds behind Data.
Race seven at the Docks would prove crucial to the fortunes of almost every driver at this year's tournament. Thankfully, we had no crashes here, with Archimede winning the race and gaining thirty seconds on our rally leader, Data, who finished in 27th. Good times by selits, NNWS, Hammer and Storm1968 saw them close the gap too, with a pack of six drivers including ToxicMonkeyMZC threatening to pull away from the rest, with seventh-placed Lindy_Lyson twelve seconds behind them.
The runner-up in the original race was Jokar, with Dilandu in third, although both appear to be well out of contention for the title. However, Matqp was allowed to run separately after informing the organisers he would be unable to enter the race due to an error on his part - this was allowed as he gave the organisers several hours' notice. In the end, matqp's time was the second-fastest of the day, a result that allowed him to gain five places on the leaderboard.
The next race takes place tonight at 22:00. This link will allow you to watch the race live from 22:00 TCT.
GUESS THE TOP TEN
The Torn City Times is offering $50 million to the first ten people who correctly guess the final standings in the URT Winter Rally. To enter, simply send a list of your top ten chosen drivers in order to Torn's Tell Your Story feature with the title URT Prediction. No entries will be accepted without this title or which are sent after 22:00 TCT on the 1st of February.
If you need a little help deciding who to pick then take a look at the full Winter Rally results table here. The current standings can be found in columns X and Y. And for further information, here's a quick snapshot of the drivers who currently occupy the top ten positions.
THE FRONTRUNNERS
Data is the highest-ranked driver in the URT and in Torn City itself, with a racing skill score of 86.46. Despite his long reign at the top of the DS leaderboards, Data has never won the URT, having come second in the 2020 Winter Rally, and third in both the 2019 Winter Rally and 2020 Summer Tournament. Data's lead over selits is just 0.29 of a second, so can he hold on and secure his maiden URT crown?
Selits is keeping him honest right now, but how far can this low-ranked driver keep up the good form? Selits' DS of 29.19 means he is the 35th-ranked driver in the competition, which really puts his performance into perspective. If nothing else, selits looks like he'll be in contention for the Soybean award, which is given to the driver whose final position significantly belies their driving skill score.
Just 0.40 of a second behind selits is Storm1968, who has won two races already this tournament. Storm's DS of 56 is good enough for 12th ranking overall, but his early tournament form has shown he has the ability to go toe-to-toe with the very best. Outpacing Data over nine races is a difficult ask, but Storm has given himself a great chance of doing exactly that.
NNWS has no podium positions so far but finds himself in fourth just seven seconds behind the top three. His highest position was fifth at Meltdown and Convict, but winning races is not the key to overall victory in the Winter Rally. The best drivers are those who are consistent across multiple tracks, and NNWS has proven to be precisely that throughout our first seven races.
Hammer also has to be considered a potential winner having won 2020's Winter Rally by 40 seconds. He won four out of the 16 races in last year's event and is the fourth-ranked driver with a skill score of 65.24. He currently sits in fifth with a gap of 7.74 seconds between him and Data in first.
ToxicMonkeyMZC is also up there with a chance of victory. He is 6th, four seconds behind Hammer, and his racing skill score of 69.61 is the third-highest in the URT. Toxic finished eighth in 2020's Winter Rally and often finds his way to the final of the Summer tournament. The only thing that might scupper his chances of victory is his own timekeeping, given that he made it into the race at Meltdown with just seconds to spare!

Additional Contenders
Lindy_Lyson: 2018 Summer URT champion. 2019 Summer URT third-place. Current Position: 7th. RS Tournament Rank: 10th
urbanmenace: Grabbed third place at Convict. Consistently good so far. Current Position: 8th. RS Tournament Rank: 18th.
ScHiZoPhReNiC: 2018 Winter PRC runner-up. 2017 Summer PRC third-place. Won at Parkland, third at Meltdown. Current Position: 9th. RS Tournament Rank: 11th
Rogue: In outstanding form with several top 10's and a third at Underdog. Would be a few places higher without the first race penalty. Current Position: 10th. RS Tournament Rank: 14th
