Torn's Weekend Road Trip begins at noon on Friday the 5th of February, with this racing bonus event coinciding with the finalé of the URT Winter Rally. And to celebrate the final weekend of the tournament, we'll also be hosting a series of glamorous prize races that are open to all!
WEEKEND ROAD TRIP
The Weekend Road Trip runs for 48 hours and provides a 2x boost to all Racing Points and Racing Skill acquired for races that finish during this event. Racing Skill, formerly known as Driver Skill, is a secret score that can be improved by racing in Official Events, or by taking part in Custom Events set up by players. Basically, the more you race, the better you become!
Those who take part in Official Events have the additional chance to earn Racing Points by finishing in first, second, or third position. Racing Points can be used to purchase upgrades for your cars to improve your chances during a race. The number of Racing Points you earn over time also helps you rank up through the five racing classes, starting at E for new drivers and rising to A for top-level drivers.
During the Weekend Road Trip event, drivers who finish an Official Event in first, second, or third will receive six, four, or two Racing Points respectively. This weekend is therefore the best time to get into racing if you haven't already. Racing is growing in popularity year-on-year, with player-run events and official tournaments helping to grow this once-neglected part of Torn City. And this is no surprise, given that racing requires no energy and only a small amount of money to participate.
Read the Race Track wiki to familiarise yourself with what racing is all about, and then take a look at Baldr's Racing Guide for advice on how to get started. Once you've done that, here is some extra advice from the racing community on how you can use the Weekend Road Trip to your advantage:
Try to do as many official events as possible to get a lot of points so you can rush through the classes for the weekend. Make sure to spend points wisely so you have enough points for a fully upgraded class A car. - Lightor
It can take a while to get enough points during the rest of the year, so aim to save as many as possible during the weekend. It's possible to get through class E without upgrades, and I personally only spent 18, 63 and 138 points on my class D, C, and B to get to class A. Don't bother spending any points on safety and try to stick to one car per class (tarmac upgrades over dirt) until you're at A to make the most out of those points. - CJBWRC
Keep all the points you gain until you reach class D, then use those points on a toyota mr2, and buy a hummer for dirt races - no points used on the hummer. Keep your remaining points until class C, then get a ford focus for dirt tracks, and use points on a tarmac car you have at reaching class C. Once more, keep all your leftover points until class B, and here I'd go for a sierra cosworth, on which you should pgrade everything that is speed/acceleration related - no dirt upgrades. Finally, keep all your points until you get to class A - make sure to have around 260 - and then upgrade a tarmac nsx short ratio. Or, max your cosworth for dirt tracks. - Prezze
That double DS is so huge that it is definitely worth it to skip flying and concentrate on racing for the entire event. I would also encourage them to join this discord so that they can get racing advice and be around others that have also caught the racing bug. I know this discord made me feel less alone about liking racing since no one else in my faction really raced then. - Jazeejas

URT PRIZE RACES
To celebrate the finalé of the Winter Rally, the URT is staging ten prize races throughout Sunday which are free and open to all. A maximum of 100 drivers may join each race, with the track and lap total being decided by the steward on the day. Look out for gold-flared races to ensure you are joining an official URT prize race.
Prizes are on offer for drivers who finish in certain positions in any of these races, meaning that there are 110 prizes up for grabs. Here are the positions in which you must finish in order to claim a prize.

25th - Christmas Cracker
40th - Drug Pack
55th - Keg of Beer
