Find out how many eggs you'll need to reach the top 10%. See who is leading the egg leaderboard as of 10am this morning. And find out which items Duke and Jimmy put up for auction late last night!
There are now just nine days remaining in the Easter Egg Competition, so if you're aiming to be top of the leaderboard or sneak into the top 10%, it would help to know just how many eggs you need to achieve this. As ever, the Torn City Times is here to help.
Eggsciting Race for Victory
The current top egg collector as of 10am today is -selene- with 20 eggs, closely followed by Ahab on 19. According to our calculations, it appears that this year's top scorers are going to beat the record of 27 set jointly last year by Ahab, Rob_Snow, and Neil_Peart.
When we checked the top scorer tallies on the 13th of April 2020, the most eggs anyone had was 16, meaning that they had a collection rate of roughly 1.37 eggs per day - the final tally for the top scorers that year was 1.35 eggs per day. This year, -selene- is collecting eggs at a rate of 1.81 per day. If she were to carry on at her current rate, she would absolutely destroy the current record with a tally of 36 eggs.

Pictured: I didn't even make this. It already existed on the internet. Neat, huh?
If you want to know who the leading egg collectors are after this article goes out, make sure to follow CRLF's forum thread that will be updated during the competition.

Eggspress Yourself
If you're only looking to break into the top 10% to get the max of 10 competition tokens so you can buy a new fancy hairstyle, the current total required for that is 8 eggs. This will obviously increase as the competition draws on, but perhaps not by much.
When we checked on the 13th of April last year, which was three days earlier than this year's update article, the total was also eight, resulting in a rate of 1 egg per day. The total you eventually needed for top 10% placement in 2020 was thirteen eggs, as egg collecting then dropped off massively, giving us a final rate of 0.65 eggs a day, or roughly 2 eggs every three days to make it.
This year, the tally of 8 eggs in 11 days results in a figure of 0.72 eggs per day. Egg collecting appears to fall off by roughly a third at this point, and based on some extremely shaky maths I did this morning while hungover, that means you may only need nine or ten eggs to achieve top 10% status this year. Of course, I may be wrong about this, and the best way to ensure you have top 10% status is to regularly check the competition page.

Pictured: I haven't found any eggs yet, but nor have I been looking. I should still get a participation trophy though, because it's 2021, and everyone is entitled, especially me!
Eggspanded Information
The final set of statistics I will sling at your gorgeous face are the overall figures for egg collecting for 2021 - if you're into that sort of thing. In 2020, we ended with a total of 437,535 eggs generated versus 214,643 collected, giving us a collection to spawn rate of 49%, a 2% increase on 2019. This meant that the average jerk collected 5.5 eggs per person.
This year, after eleven days of competition, 137,878 eggs have been collected out of the 287,881 that have spawned - roughly 3.68 eggs per person have been found. This means that only 47% of eggs that have spawned are being picked up, which explains why our 10% threshold may be lower this year. This could change as the final days of the competition play out, but my mum doesn't think that it will. And she eats a lot of eggs.

Pictured: I panic-bought a box of 48 of these bad boys when I realised they stop selling them after Easter.
I've also used the circulation graphs to see whether the introduction of Dark Mode has affected the number of whites and blacks being collected. These are rough figures as they don't take into account how many have been exchanged or consumed, but we'll just deal with that like big boys and girls.
White 2021: 7,087
White 2020: 7,976
Black 2021: 9,092
Black 2020: 10,376
These figures are based on the difference in the number of eggs circulating from 4th-15th of April. At first glance, it looks like the introduction of Dark Mode has had no effect on the number of whites being found. However, when you factor in the 2% drop in the number of eggs being picked up overall and compare the 2020 and 2021 values, white totals have gone down by 11%, but blacks have dropped by 12%.
This means there has been a slight increase in the overall proportion of whites collected compared to blacks - if only the police could follow your lead. Well done everyone. Here's a list of how many of each coloured egg has been added to circulation so far.
White: 7,087
Black: 9,092
Brown: 9,703
Green: 10,390
Blue: 10,464
Yellow: 10,833
Purple: 10,990
Orange: 11,003
Pink: 11,012
Red: 11,831

Easter Competitions
If auctions are too ritzy for you, then make sure you enter our free-to-play raffle event instead! All you have to do is post a random Torn fact in this thread, not even a good one, or a funny one, just some words will do. When the thread closes at midnight on the 25th, a random number generator will choose players from the thread to win one of over a hundred fantastic prizes, with everything from Dual MP5s and a Hazmat Suit through to Rotten Eggs and Energy Drinks all on offer.
And finally, if you're feeling creative, you still have time to enter one of our four Easter Community Events for a chance to win big too. Our prize pool for these contests includes Private Islands, Sports Sneakers, a Snow Cannon, and a Platinum PDA. But be forewarned, for the competition in these competitions is looking pretty damn fierce. If you haven't already, please do check out the entries in the Easter Bunny Art Competition. They're absolutely f***ing incredible, and it's going to be very hard to judge these.
