After 8 weeks of races, we have reached the conclusion of the Spring edition of the Justice League Tournament. Read on for a recap of all the fun.
After weeks of fierce competition, through seven rounds of qualifiers and an exciting Championship Week, we have reached the end of the Spring edition of the Justice League Tournament (JLT). This third iteration of JLT was bigger, faster, and better than ever, with over 800 participants of varying skill levels involved in the competition.

The JLT's format is unique in that it gives every racer a chance to win great prizes. The tournament divides racers into one of seven leagues based upon their racing skill, with some leagues broken down even further based upon their number of participants. Each league runs seven weeks of qualifiers to determine the top three racers, each of whom progresses to Championship Week.

During Championship Week, the qualifiers race on a different track each day, with daily points awarded based on placement. The overall winner of JLT is the player with the most points at the end of Championship Week. Our Spring 2021 champion was Data, who finished 13 points ahead of his nearest rival, Violence. Our third-placed driver was The_Baron. Congratulations to all of the winners and the many, many prize recipients!

Spring JLT by the Numbers

More details about the tournament, along with a contemporaneous recap of various races can be found in the Official Spring JLT thread. You can also view the full results table here. But for those who want the short version, here are a few interesting stats regarding the JLT.

Number of Racers: 837
Number of Races: 96
Number of Volunteers: 20
Prize Pool: $3.95 Billion in cash and items
Number of Tears Shed: None. This was just a trick statistic to see if you were still paying attention.

Spring JLT was the largest player-run tournament in Torn history. Please note, I had no way to verify this statistic; but, it’s printed here, so that must mean it's true. But the JLT is not just about the numbers. The tournament also hosts a Pit Stop Racing Discord where racers can get advice, keep up with tournament happenings, track scores, and engage in some good-natured banter. And, wow, were there a lot of messages sent during those eight weeks!

Recurring themes included: endless debates regarding the relative merits of T2 vs. T3 turbo kits; impassioned pleas about the underrated value of the Ferrari; sudden realizations that critical races were about to be missed; conspiracy theories regarding all the ways that racing RNG can be rigged by others; and expressions of surprise about how well (or poorly) one was doing in relation to their predictions going into the tournament.

Regardless of tournament placement, a real sense of friendship and camaraderie emerges among the racers here, with many remaining active in the Pit Stop long after the tournament ends. With so many racing tournaments going on throughout the year, including the forthcoming Ultimate Racing Tournament, The Pit Stop often proves an invaluable resource for those involved in the racing community.

Until Next Time...

Thank you to all the racers who participated in the Spring edition of the JLT. I would also like to give a special shoutout to JLT’s organizers (Indolent, Jairyll, and LordofFire) and the many stewards who helped ensure this tournament’s success. Finally, we couldn’t have done this without Torn’s awesome racing community that continues to support player-run tournaments by donating prizes and showing up to race.

See you in the fall for the next edition of JLT! Until then, there are plenty of upcoming tournaments. And if you're in the mood for volunteering, the Ultimate Racing Tournament is seeking steward volunteers right now!

TL;DR: Spring 2021 JLT has concluded. 1st - Data. 2nd - Violence. 3rd - The_Baron. JLT will return in the fall.
