Rare Animals Spotted in SA

Highly endangered species set to be released outside Joburg ahead of World Tiger Day. Six-seven figure sums paid for their corpses. Hunting experience boost in effect for 48 hours of the event.
The Torn City Times has been informed that several endangered species have been imported to South Africa in recent days, with rumours suggesting that the presence of these animals is linked to next week's World Tiger Day event.

What an Absolute Hunt!

World Tiger Day runs from noon on the 28th to noon on the 30th and sees all hunters able to boost their experience by a factor of five while taking part in bloodsports. Hunting in South Africa is limited to players level 15 or over, but its energy cost versus the benefits gained means that not everyone sees the slaughter of wild animals as a good use of their time.

Beginner hunters can earn between $250 - $500 on every individual hunt depending on which animal they bag, with this increasing to $1,000 - $3,000 for standard hunters, and $1,500 - $20,000 for advanced. Each hunt costs 10 energy, so even if you used the maximum Donator energy bar at the highest hunting level with all hunting perks available, even the most experienced hunters only gain about $800,000 - $1.1 million from a full hunting session.

But how much would you get for the corpse of a Cape Vulture?

A Rare Treat

In an attempt to attract more of Torn's hunters to South Africa, The TCT has heard reports of rare animals being smuggled to Johannesburg for the purpose of hunting on World Tiger Day. It is believed that these animals will be released into the wild on Wednesday, with smugglers said to be working with a shady cabal of exotic animal specialists to have them shot by tourists so they may harvest their bullet-riddled bodies.

This venture was uncovered last night when a truck supposedly carrying millions of tiny cocktail umbrellas jackknifed and shed its load late on Saturday evening. Cages full of Addax, Pangolin, and Cape Vultures were spotted strewn across the highway in the aftermath of the accident, and it is believed that there may be more trucks carrying endangered animals on the roads as we speak.

You Dirty Hunt

One of those involved in this exotic animal smuggling ring spoke to the Torn City Times on condition of anonymity. He told us that these three rare animals are being imported into South Africa so that Torn's hunters can shoot them after their release, before selling their bodies to their hunting guides for large amounts of money.

The guide will then pass these trophies onto exotic animal dealers, who believe they will be able to sell the parts freely around the globe without threat of imprisonment, since they themselves were not responsible for downing the animal.

"Yes, we know this is bulls**t, and that dealing in dead rare animals is illegal whether or not you shot the darn thing. But don't tell the dealers that. They may be f***ing idiots, but they're rich f***ing idiots." - anon.

Indeed, our anonymous source told us that the guides have been instructed to purchase the corpses back from hunters for six to seven figures each, with an Addax going for $850,000, Pangolins bought for $1,400,000, and the extremely rare Cape Vulture valued at $2.8 million. There are fewer than 10,000 Cape Vultures remaining in the wild, but Torn's citizens are unlikely to pay that fact much thought given the rewards on offer next week.

Blood Money

As we implied earlier, hunting isn't hugely popular in Torn due to the paltry rewards provided in exchange for a huge amount of energy. It is for this reason that Torn's hunters tend to focus on their experience level over the sport's earning potential, with many simply happy to use these sessions to increase their hunting skill, not their bank balance, as a matter of pride.

During World Tiger Day, the experience you gain from hunting is increased by a factor of five, and this makes it popular event among those who hunt for pleasure over money. And if you are looking to increase your hunting skill even further, there are various job specials that can help, as you'll see by reading the Hunting Wiki, or Mightygoober's Hunting Guide.

But this year there is more than a mere skill boost on offer. This year, thanks to the presence of some of the planet's most endangered species, you have the chance to make serious bank, and become morally bankrupt in the process.

tl;dr: Hunting provides 5x more experience from 12:00 TCT on the 28th of July to 12:00 TCT on the 30th of July.

tl;dr2: Three new rare and high-value animals can be hunted during this year's event. They will be available during Tiger Day only.
