The Elimination tournament will, as ever, be accompanied by a selection of relevant community events, including contests involving art, baking, singing, and shitposting. But this year we're running one Elimination competition slightly earlier than usual.
To ensure that everyone has a nice new set of graphic banners in time for the tournament, the Elimination Signature contest will run from today until the 4th of September. You can see the results of last year's competition here. Additional Elimination competitions will be announced on the 5th of September when the tournament itself begins.
The winners of the signature contest will receive first pick from the prize pool, with Leslie's Freakshow taking second pick ahead of the remaining contests that will be posted next month. Visit the link below to view the competition details and see what we're giving away!

Registration
Registration for Elimination 2021 will open at noon TCT on Sunday the 5th of September. Before you are allowed to pick a team, each player will be asked to demonstrate their dedication to violence by attacking five individual players before the registration period ends.

Once you've done this, you will be presented with four options from the twelve teams available. Each team has an initial 1,000 player limit, so make sure you nail your choices early, as teams with a full roster will not be available to join directly once they've hit 1,000 members. If you don't like your options, you may use the Pot Luck feature, which will randomly assign you to one of the six least popular teams.

This is also the only way in which you are able to join a team with more than 1,000 members after the team limit has been reached if said team is among the six least popular at the time.
Schedule
The schedule for Elimination 2021 remains unchanged. Registration will run from noon on the 5th until noon on the 10th. The warm-up period will then start and run for 24 hours until noon on the 11th. During this period, teams will fight each other in order to gain tickets and reduce their opponents' initial tally of 1,000, but no lives will be lost.
At noon on the 11th, the team with the lowest ticket total will lose the first of their 100 lives. Whichever team has the lowest ticket total every fifteen minutes after that will lose a life. Based on the fact that there are twelve teams with 100 lives each, this means that Elimination 2021 should end at some point during Thursday the 23rd of September.
Rules
There are no rule changes with this year's Elimination, with this marking the second year of the 100 lives / 15 minute life loss format. Players will also be allowed to leave the tournament at any point between the warm-up beginning and their own team's elimination. Doing so will forfeit all rewards, tokens, and honor bars related to the Elimination competition, but if you're a lazy S.O.B. who hasn't made any hits, it may just save you from an ass-whooping by your teammates.
Despite there being no changes to the competition itself, this years' Elimination will be markedly different due to the implementation of new medical and revive rules back in February. One aspect of these changes that could have proven troublesome was the creation of outside hitter status, a feature that allows certain players involved in territorial battles to use Early Discharge to release themselves from the hospital without using items or revives if they have been attacked by a player outside of their territorial conflict.
Earlier this year, Chedburn confirmed that outside hitter status would not be applied to any players involved in an Elimination fight. If an Elimination participant happens to be on a territorial wall when they are defeated by another Elimination participant, under no circumstances will the victim be able to use the Early Discharge feature, regardless of who attacked them.
Preparation
If you're new to Elimination, then you may want to prepare now by buying up items and drawing up a strategy. SinCitySinner's Elimination Guide was prepared in 2019 and therefore references the old rules, but the advice it contains remains relevant. And Aaassh's article from earlier this year is a must-read for new players too.
