Find out what the developers did last month, why they did it, and how it will affect you in this roundup of September's notable Patch Notes.
Patch List #208
Faction Profiles
All faction profiles and information header panels have been redesigned. This change was made so that faction headers can display information pertaining to Ranked Warring, which is set for release in the near future.

Patch List #209
Bookies 2.0
Bookies 2.0 was released on the 14th of September. The first thing you'll notice is the expanded range of bet options on offer, with Odd & Even, Handicaps, Over & Under, etc all now available via the Additional Betting Options button. The interface itself has been adapted for Dark Mode and made intuitive for casual players who are new to sports betting.

Beneath the surface, the Bookies' internal system has undergone a huge revamp. Torn's bookmakers now use a premium provider that gives us reliable odds and fixtures across 26 different sports and activities. For now, the bookies only allows bets across 14 of these sports, which are:
American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Counter-Strike, Cricket, Darts, Dota 2, Football, Ice Hockey, League of Legends, Rugby Union, Rugby League, StarCraft 2, Tennis.
In future, we hope to add the following sports and activities:
Australian Football, Badminton, Boxing, FIFA, Golf, Handball, Floorball, Mixed Martial Arts, Overwatch, Snooker, Table Tennis, Volleyball.
Bettors are still limited to punts of no more than $10m while we check for issues, but we anticipate being able to raise this to $100m and beyond to $1bn once we are confident in the system's integrity.
Personal Stats
A number of visual improvements have been made to the personal stats page, most of which concern the stat graphs section.

Patch List #210
Self-Jailing
Players who are the subject of an incoming attack can no longer perform a crime while being attacked. Previously, if a player was being hit by someone to whom they were likely to lose, they had the option to visit the Crimes page and choose a crime with a high failure rate, thus landing them in jail instead of the hospital.

Torn is full of interesting mechanics like this, and while we encourage such innovative and opportunistic gameplay to an extent, there are occasions when we have to close certain loopholes for the good of the game. In this instance, the use of self-jailing scripts made it too easy to rapidly escape an incoming attack through failed crimes, so we were forced to remove the ability of players to self-jail midway through a fight.
Patch List #211
Fair Fights
During a battle, the Fair Fight bonus provides additional respect to your faction depending on your battle stats and those of your opponent. Fr00t explains how this works here, but the basic principle is that attacking players of equal or higher stats will provide more respect, with up to 3x bonuses available at most.
The only time this formula was not applicable was when a war-hit was being made. In this instance, the 3x bonus was applied uniformly to all players. This is no longer the case. The Fair Fight formula has now been applied to war hits, with no changes made to the actual formula itself.
What has been changed is that the Fair Fight bonus stat score caps have been set to the player with the 1,000th highest totalstats value, which is a hidden value derived from a player's battlestats. We found that some high stat players had difficulty achieving the full 3x fair fight bonus due to their relative strength compared to other players. From now on, the fair fight bonus will be calculated after each fight based on the benchmark set by the 1,000th totalstats player at the time.
Car Tooltips
Racers can now view the progress percentages for each car statistic through the use of a tooltip. Whereas previously the car stats page displayed each vehicle's Top Speed, Acceleration, Braking, Handling, Dirt, Tarmac, and Safety through the use of a progress bar, hovering over this bar will now give you a specific percentage value too.

Travel Warning
Players who are about to embark on a flight that is longer than necessary will now be warned of this fact. If, for example, a player chooses a Standard Flight when they have a company special that allows them to fly Business Class for free, a warning will be displayed reminding them of the option to shorten their journey.

Logistics Expiry
Company Directors will now be alerted of the expiry of any active Logistics Reports applied to their company. These alerts will be provided via both the Director's personal events and the company's Main News panel the minute the report expires.
Scary Items
During the Trick or Treat event it is beneficial for players to equip certain weapons and clothing, as doing so will provide you with a boost to your treat chance. It was initially intended that these items would remain secret and/or unconfirmed, but given that the list appears in full on the Wiki, MightyGoober suggested that an icon should be added to the item info panel to distinguish these bonus-providing items.
Chedburn rejected the idea of displaying this information permanently. However, he did agree to add a Scary Yes/No attribute and a small pumpkin icon during the Trick or Treat event only. The Scary status of each item will be displayed once Trick or Treat begins in October.
Grenade Ammo
40mm Grenade ammunition has been added into Torn ahead of the release of Grenade Launcher weapons in the near future.
