After months of high octane action the Justice League Tournament and Torn Racing League both conluded recently. Read up on how to see how these unique player-run racing events unfolded!
Two of Torn’s biggest player-run tournaments have reached their conclusion after several months of nail-biting racing. The Justice League Tournament ended just a few days ago on the 5th of December, whereas the Torn Racing League finished a week earlier on the 28th of November. Read on to find out who won, what they won, and how!
Justice League Tournament
The fourth iteration of the JLT was a complete success with over 800 racers participating in this autumn's edition. This tournament is unique in that it allows players of all levels a shot at winning a prize, and during the course of seven qualifying weeks and one championship week over $4,077,389,282 of prize money was paid out in return for a good performance, a quick lap, or sheer RNG.
Despite the egalitarian nature of the tournament, the final championship week is usually dominated by high RS drivers rated 40+. But in this edition, there were a few surprises as underdogs zim312 and Helmstetter fought their way out of league 2 and put in some excellent performances to reach the final week. In the end, Helmstetter claimed sixth place out of 21 racers while zim312 managed to climb onto the podium, bringing home third for himself behind the likes of Data (Top Racer in RS) and ToxicMonkeyMZC (Second best in RS).
The achievements of these two drivers are all the more impressive given that they had an especially difficult road to the final, as they had to compete against 21 more racers than we saw in this division last year. Helmstetter was later awarded the best newcomer prize for his outstanding performance in this year's tournament. Congratulations to both of them!

But the headline news from the JLT was Data’s dominating performance, as Torn's top driver won the championship week with a total of 137 points - 23 more than ToxicMonkeyMZC. Data's levels during championship week were so high he could’ve missed the last race and still won, so hats off to him for this dominating display of supreme racing skill. If you want to read more about the JLT's format and how the results unfolded, I would encourage you to check out the results here or the forum thread here.
This tournament wouldn’t have been possible without Indolent, Jairyll, and LordofFire who were helped by a total of 13 race stewards. These players are also responsible for creating the Pitstop Discord, a community of racing enthusiasts that has grown to host over 1,000 members. Whether you have questions to ask, theories to post, scripts to publish, need tournament reminders, or anything else, you will find all this and more down at the Pitstop.
Congratulations again to Data, ToxicMonkeyMZC, and zim312 for making the top 3 this autumn edition, and we hope to see everyone again in Spring for the JLT's fifth edition.

Torn Racing League
The inaugural Torn Racing League introduced something new to the racing scene, with its faction-based F1-Style format attracting over 200 teams consisting of 400 individual racers! Each team was comprised of two drivers taken from the same faction, with factions permitted to enter more than one duo if they so desired. And some factions were clearly more interested in racing than others, as Destructive Anomaly, Destination Unknown, and Monarch Research entered no fewer than nine teams each!

The inaugural TRL saw all 200 teams racing in groups but pooled together in one big league, with teams earning points for their positions in each race and the final standings used to determine which league each team would be entered into for the next edition. After sixteen weeks of weekly racing, the first season ended with Nath and Celina of Destructive Anomaly Team 1 top of the pile on 11,871 points, just 29 ahead of WAGA and MIA in Subversive Alliance Team 1. Here are our top 20 League one drivers who we hope will rejoin us next season as we look to crown our champions:
Full Results
Nath was, without doubt, the star of this season's tournament, as not only did he finish first with his teammate celina for Ðestructive Anomaly but he also topped the standings as an individual too. Early on in the tournament, it looked like Data was going to decide these titles for himself, but an unfortunate crash in race 9 at Industrial caused him and his team to fall slightly behind. If you wish to see the full standings you can find the main spreadsheet here.
You'll notice that those standings also include Destructive Anomaly Team 3's Stormcast and Urbanmenace in place zero, which was reserved for them in honor after Stormcast sadly passed away shortly after Race 1 in August. Stormcast was a mainstay of the Torn racing scene, as was his real-life partner and teammate Urbanmenace, and their absence has been felt greatly by all of us in the racing community and in the Torn community at large.
This tournament was organized by Prezze, who many racers already know from hosting the Wreckfest Knockout Tournament, and Lightor, who has been a steward for the JLT and URT in the past. The Torn Racing League had an average attendance of 264 racers per raceday, all racing simultaneously for fame and glory.
The track looked very colorful each time thanks to Lugburz's Racing Script, which enabled every team to be assigned a unique color within their group. This extra element added to the unique feel of the TRL, and enhanced the sense that this truly was a team event as everyone raced with their partners.
TRL crunched into numbers:
This tournament was a massive undertaking in organization and it couldn’t have been done without the 12 stewards helping us. A special mention must also go to Indolent who helped Prezze with the graphics and spreadsheets. Every team has an individual graphic made for them which you can find in the forum thread here. Besides many details, updates and graphics, this thread also contains interviews with the racers by Lightor, and another round of chats is planned before Christmas to wrap up the season's racing calendar.
Many more things are planned for the Torn Racing League in future, and we hope that you will join us for the next season when the competition gets tougher and you’ll be facing new rivals on the track!
TL;DR: JLT and TRL racing tournaments concluded, billions in total paid out to participants. Join next time for a chance for prizes and to see what racing is all about!
