Find out how you can win one of our two new masks by entering one of our Christmas Community events or our festive Lucky Dip!
Torn's Christmas Community Events are now open for entries! While Duke is busy combing through low-effort posts in response to his daily giveaway tasks, the Community Events are here to raise the bar and showcase the very best bakers, artists, and meme-lords that Torn City has to offer.

We're running six competitions this Christmas, each of which gives you the chance to win one of two brand new Christmas masks alongside the usual ribbons and prizes. Read on to find out what we want from you and what you'll get in return if you win!

CHRISTMAS WRAPPING COMPETITION

Following repeated complaints that we hate rap, the Torn City Community Event Committee (uhhh, me and bogie) have decided to put our apparent prejudice to one side and run a rap competition. But if you think saying some words fast in a slightly offensive accent will suffice you are dead wrong, because in addition to writing and performing a rap song about Christmas in Torn City, we also want you to video yourself rapping the lyrics while simultaneously wrapping a gift.

The judges will only watch the first sixty seconds of your video, and we will outright ignore any entries that are audio or lyrics only. We also will not accept ballads, Christmas carols, progressive goa trance music, or ska. If you want a prize, you're gonna have to rap a song and wrap a present. Them's the rules.

CHRISTMAS BAKING COMPETITION

If you aren't baking something this Christmas then we are legally required to ask what the hell is wrong with you? And if the answer to that question is "lots" then have you ever considered that the cure might be some little chocolate cupcakes with Duke's face on them?

We're allowing you to enter anything cooked, baked, or warmed up in the microwave to this year's baking competition, with steamed hams, iced cookies, and traditional Norwegian Smalahove all acceptable entries. All that we ask is you make some effort with your presentation, include your player details and the year somewhere in the link, and don't send us a thousand complaints when we don't choose your mother's depressing meatloaf as the winner.

CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION

The Christmas Card competition is always one of the most fiercely contested events of the year, so even if you only suck a tiny amount, don't be surprised if you fail to place in the top three. To enter this contest, we'd like you to design a Torn Christmas Card that depicts a scene that took place in Torn during 2021. Your card can be digitally created or made by hand, but it must include your name, ID, and the year somewhere in the image.

If you need a quick refresher on the year's events, try scrolling back through the forums or the Newspaper Archive to see what happened and when. The year began with Miro winning a Dirty Bomb auction, and was followed by the destruction of Animal Kingdom, major medical changes, numerous Dirty Bomb attacks versus MnC, the introduction of Tiny and Fernando, Stocks 3.0, Monarch's merger, Ranked Warring's release, and MarlonBrando losing his faction, to name but a few!

CHRISTMAS MEME

What is there to say about the meme competition that hasn't been said before? That it's a high-quality thread full of talented people posting hilarious comments that we thoroughly enjoy judging. Yes, that is something nobody has ever said. But please do enter the meme competition anyway, because it definitely exists, and nobody can deny that.

Pictured: BadassBaxia's effort from last year, which did not win a single thing. Perhaps it should have.

The main rules we have for the meme competition are that the memes must be your own work, they must be Christmasy and Torn related, and you can only submit three. Both gifs and still images are acceptable, and we do like to see the freshest meme formats used for maximum spiciness. Got it? Good.

CHRISTMAS DRESSUP COMPETITION

I'm just gonna say this out loud: We like to see what you freaks look like so we can avoid you in real life. Now that's out of the way, we want you to dress up in something nice and photograph yourselves sitting on Santa's lap, dancing in front of a Christmas tree, basting a turkey, or doing something else that's suitably festive. Your outfit may consist of either a weird costume, fancy work outfit, or your regular work clothes - if your work clothes are interesting enough to warrant a prize.

Pictured: If you are bigger than Santa and clearly causing him extreme discomfort you stand a great chance of winning.

Given that the coronavirus is still a thing, we insist that you do not break any local restrictions when making your image. Any kind of Christmas scene will do, even if it's just you at home wrapping up a turkey or carving open an Xbox. So long as you are in a vaguely festive setting in a nice or weird costume, your entry will be valid.

Bonus points if you pee on Santa.
Edit: No, we can't ask you to do this.

CHRISTMAS LUCKY DIP STORY

Torn's Lucky Dip format returns with a special storytelling edition this Christmas. As ever, players only have to make a post in our Lucky Dip forum thread in order to enter, with the winners being chosen at random once the draw closes at midnight on the 31st of December. Players may only post once, and anyone who fails to heed this simple rule will be disqualified and dismembered.

For our Christmas Lucky Dip, we want you to work together with the rest of the Torn community to tell us a story one word at a time. Each player must post a single word as their Lucky Dip entry, and this word should follow on from the word posted before it to form a sentence or story. Please do not use the quote function, just reply once in plain text to the person who posted last on the forum.

Don't worry if your response wasn't quick enough and your word now doesn't make sense, as we fully expect this to go wrong almost immediately. But do try to refresh the page before you post to give yourself the best chance of continuing the story. Your word choice has no bearing on your chances of winning a prize, but we will disqualify and replace any words that are offensive or go against Torn's rules.

Here are just some of the fabulous prizes we're offering as rewards in our Lucky Dip event:

Hazmat Suit
Welding Helmet
Santa's Elf '09
Snowflake '05
5 x Cesium
Dual Weapons
FHCs
And much, much more!

The link to the Lucky Dip can be found here. As you can see, the story already makes no f***ing sense. The lucky dip draw and indeed all competitions will close for entries at midnight on the 31st of December. Good luck!
