City Finds set to increase temporarily from 17th to 23rd of January. Find out how to boost this further and potentially secure yourself a free Hazmat, RPG, or Big Box of Chocolate Bars!
Awareness Awareness Week runs from the 17th to the 23rd of January. During this time, all Torn citizens will benefit from an increased amount of awareness, a hidden attribute that determines how many items will spawn for you on the City Map. If you're a new player and you're unaware that free items can be found scattered around the city, you are welcome... and lacking in awareness. But don't worry, we're here to help.

City Map items won't spawn for you every day, but if they do, they'll appear after midnight TCT, with everything from medical items and weaponry through to books and even stat enhancers potentially available for the bargain price of zero dollars. Many players use browser extensions like DoctorN to make locating these items easier, but if you're a Luddite, you can just click around the City Map until you've found everything.
The number of items that spawn for you over time is determined by your hidden Awareness stat. During Awareness Awareness week, every player's Awareness is boosted by a secret amount, meaning that the entire community will benefit from increased city finds for one whole week. Not convinced? Take a look at the city finds graph found at City Hall.

The number of City Finds nearly tripled during 2021's Awareness Awareness week, and this doesn't include items that spawned but were missed or clicked on later. That's one of the best parts about Awareness Awareness week, as with items remaining on the City Map indefinitely, you can let this week pass you by and hoover up all the goodies on the 24th after the final day has passed. The only caveat to that is you need to be online every day if you want items to spawn for you at midnight.
You can also take a more proactive approach to Awareness Awareness week by increasing your Awareness further through the use of merits and books. Many players have studied the value of putting merits into Awareness, and some have concluded that it simply isn't worth it. But if you have a few merits leftover and you aren't sure what to do with them, why not drop a few into Awareness and see what happens?

City finds can be increased further through the use of the Finders Keepers book, an item that gives you a temporary boost to Awareness for 31 days. I'm not sure if we were ever supposed to reveal how much Finders Keepers increases Awareness, but in last year's article we told you it did so by 2,500%, so I guess it's out there now. YuiAragaki is currently tracking the impact of this book on their own City Finds ahead of Awareness Week, so make sure to give that thread a follow and see what they've found so far.
YuiAragaki boosted their chances of finding rare items further by completing some of the History education courses. Players who have finished HIS2180, Medieval Archaeology, gain the ability to find Medieval Coins on the City Map. If you then go on to complete HIS2190 and HIS2200, you might uncover Asian sculptures, Qu'ran pages, Senet Board pieces, and Amulets too. Players who have unlocked the Psychology education PSY2680: Attention and Awareness also gain an overall boost of 10% to their city finds on top of all this.
One final way you can increase awareness is by working in a Firework Stand, Candle Shop, or Zoo. These companies provide Awareness specials that stack on top of any other boosts you have in play, with a 50% increase in item finds provided by the 3-star Firework Stand and Candle Shop, and a 70% increase generated by the 7-star Zoo.
Additionally, some players say they've noticed an increase in item finds after praying, or when in the possession of a set of Rosary Beads or a Rabbit's Foot. We can neither confirm nor deny whether speaking to Jebus or owning these items increases your Awareness, so you'll just have to find out for yourself.

tl;dr: Awareness Awareness Week increases City Finds from 17th-23rd January.
