Economist's Prize Winner Announced

Find out who won December's $100 million comic prize, and why January offers you the best chance to win it yourself, and gain the Velutinous merit!

The final month of 2021 was hectic, to say the least, with faction drama and new features providing our comic artists with plenty of fertile ground to cover. We received a glut of great comics in December, but out of a competitive field, our Economist Lt_Wolf chose DarkAnthos as this month's winner.

DarkAnthos takes home $100 million in prize money for his winning entry, with the judges impressed by both the content of his comic and the interesting style in which it was drawn. Lt_Wolf chose five runner-ups from December's comic cache, each of whom will receive $10 million for their efforts.

JANUARY'S COMIC TIPS

• Do send in a comic. Yes, that is a genuine tip I'm going to publish this month. We've had hardly any comics sent in since the turn of the year, and even fewer good ones, so if you ever wanted to win the $100 million prize, this is the time to try.

• Don't send in something that's messy. We're getting a lot of entries that aren't particularly pleasing to the eye. Clean lines, block colours, and sharp text can push an average entry up to a good one.

• Do try to develop your own unique look. Despite what we said in the previous tip, DarkAnthos' comics appeal because of their slight roughness, as it works well with his drawing style.
  

• Don't forget to look at the events we have coming up this month for inspiration. There are plenty of Ranked Wars going on, Awareness Awareness week begins soon, the URT qualifiers run at the weekend, and it'll soon be Valentine's Day too.
  

• Do try to look outside of the box for your ideas too. Maybe you could cover a famous player's recent achievement, a weird patch note, or you could make a comment on what everyone's doing with all those cans and candies leftover from Christmas Town.
  

• And finally, don't leave it too late to send in your comics. Right now, the only comics published from January are on page one of the comic section. We probably have another four that are worth pushing next week, and that's it. With just over two weeks of the month left, January marks a great opportunity to achieve the Velutinous merit and a $100 million bonus prize!
