Slockins101 has been chosen as the winner of January's Economist Comic Prize for their Dirty Bomb-themed strip. Slockins101, who contributes regularly to our comic section under their own name and in collaboration with others, receives $100 million for their latest effort.

January's pickings were slim for Lt_Wolf, with only a few pages of comics sent in for his consideration. Out of the few comic strips we received, Torn's economist managed to rustle up four which he felt deserved the runner-up prize of $10 million.

Much like last month, February has been a little short on comics, with only four pages of strips accepted so far. But there's still plenty of time for you to send in a piece for consideration for this month's prize, and here are a few tips you may want to consider if you do so.

THIS MONTH'S COMIC TIPS

  • Valentine's Day may be over, but that doesn't mean you can't reference the events that took place during the month. Why not draw SA hiding from Monarch in South Africa? Reference the Dirty Bomb that never came. Or maybe do something about the URT final instead?
  • St Patrick's Day and Employee Appreciation Day are coming up in March, so why not send us an observation on how these events work?
  • If you're going to send us a comic that is entirely themed around a joke, please make sure it has some kind of link to Torn. If it doesn't, we won't publish it.
  • Scour the Announcements section of the forums for additional inspiration. Maybe we've changed something this month that deserves to be highlighted in comic form?
