Torn Racing League Returns

Season 2 of Torn's faction racing league closes for registration February 20th. Find out what your faction must do to enter!
Have you recently caught the racing bug? Is your faction unable to compete for the very best ranked war caches? If the answer to both of these questions is "yes", "maybe", or "what the f**k are you talking about?", then the Torn Racing League is the competition for you.

What Is The Torn Racing League?

The Torn Racing League is a faction-based racing competition that takes inspiration from the way football and racing championships are decided. Devised by Prezze and Lightor in the summer of 2021, the TRL combines the team element of Formula One with the promotion and relegation aspect of football leagues to create Torn's first faction racing tournament, and the first competition to continue progressively over several seasons.

The Torn Racing League is free to join (although the organizers accept any donations) and our races are held every Sunday by a team of dedicated and experienced stewards. Each faction team of 2 people each must race against other teams to compete for individual and team points in order to earn prizes and glory. TRL races are 100 laps long and a season consists of 16 races, racing on every Torn track once.

Season One of the TRL was a huge success, with 200 teams consisting of 400 drivers taking part in our inaugural event. Nath and Celina of Destructive Anomaly Team 1 topped the standings after November's final race at Convict. But in the TRL, every team's final position is equally important, as this determines which division you'll be in the following year!

TRL Season 2

TRL Season 2 is now open for registration until the 20th of February, with the tournament beginning on February 27th 2022. The Torn Racing League is open to both new teams and those who participated in the inaugural event, with the only requirement being that you enter alongside a player from the same faction as yourself.

Drivers who took part in the first tournament must still register again as usual. If both you and your teammate are still in the same faction, you will retain the same team name and have already been assigned a league based on your performances last year. You can see which league you've been put in by clicking the link below.

If you aren't signing up with the same teammate as the previous season, or you've changed factions, you can use the following flowchart to figure out what you need to do.

If you are new to the Torn Racing League, then your team will start in the bottom division. However, following the racing community's positive response to our proposals, we have developed a system that allows high-rated drivers to progress through multiple divisions via a wildcard mechanic. Every team's progress is tracked in an overall ranking system, and based on this, wildcards will be assigned that could potentially see even a new team jump straight into League 1.

You can find out exactly how this works here, but the basic premise is that exceptionally fast drivers in the lower divisions will be placed in more appropriate leagues based on their performance. The goal of this change is to avoid having experienced racers having to push through weaker groups, while also keeping leagues interesting for everyone else.

We've also added in a new feature for Season 2; Torn Racing League Legends. We'll be keeping a record of the top 10 fastest finishes and fastest lap times on every track performed in the TRL. If you manage to beat the current fastest times on a track, fame and money await you!

Have you always wanted to see that Honda NSX in red? The Torn Racing League assigns colours to each driver duo, with your team's hue visible to anyone using Lugburz's racing script. This script, which also contains contributions from Brainslug and Prezze, offers a number of improvements to the traditional racing experience, with four-digit RS displays, race links, and best laps just some of the features provided.

Script Forum Post

Teams can state their colour preference on the TRL signup form, but choose wisely, as you'll be forced to keep this choice for the duration of the season. If you have any other questions, we have an extensive FAQ section, and you can mail the organisers directly if your query isn't answered there. Otherwise, it's time to dust off your racing helmet and find a faction friend who's a fan of fast and furious action, and we'll see you on the track!
