Travel Changes For Torn Citizens

Regular Torn features now available when visiting foreign nations. Sidebar introduced to all travel destinations. Inactivity duration for hidden status increased to one week.
A recent announcement by Chedburn has revealed that restrictions have been lifted on the activities Torn citizens can perform when visiting foreign countries.

Prior to this change, Torn citizens were limited to attacking and shopping in foreign destinations. The only exceptions to this were nations with special features, such as Switzerland, South Africa, and the Caymans, where you could enter rehabilitation, hunt animals, or invest money. These activities are still possible, but citizens can now do a few other useful things when travelling abroad.

For example, Torn's tourists can now monitor their life, energy, nerve, and happiness bars while abroad, as most elements of the sidebar are now accessible regardless of your location. This may seem like a minor change, but since the degradation of your life bar is often the first sign of an incoming assault, the ability to see this happening live will surely be welcomed by those wondering why they're suddenly in a British emergency room.

Speaking of the hospital, players can now view a full list of incapacitated citizens in each foreign country, in addition to those who are simply wandering around without injury - we are presently investigating whether the Jail is useful or should be removed. The foreign hospital link can be found on the newly added sidebar, along with links to the local market, the list of present citizens, and location-specific links such as the aforementioned Rehab and Offshore Banking facilities.

In addition, the sidebar also displays links to several other useful areas of Torn City life. The Calendar is now available to view abroad, and both the community events and competition pages will also be linked here when contests or events are in progress. Citizens can also accept contracts from NPCs via the missions page, and customize their merit arrangements through the awards page, both of which are now available throughout the world!

Another important change that has been made to foreign travel is an increase in the time it takes for Torn's citizens to go missing abroad. In the past, it was common for people to flee to foreign destinations and go off the radar, with citizens removed from a nation’s People list and rendered unattackable after 24 hours of inactivity in a foreign nation. Citizens will now only gain this status after one full week of inactivity, which consists of 7 days, or 168 hours.

This change was made to prevent weak players from rendering themselves unattackable during ranked wars, but it will also mean that players who temporarily “retire” their accounts abroad will now be attackable for a week after they’ve left. Additionally, any participants in Torn’s Dog Tags competition (which returns in May) will no longer be able to fully disappear in foreign destinations after a day of inactivity.

Citizens who notice any strange anomalies linked to these changes while travelling abroad are encouraged to report them to the Bugs and Issues forum.

tl;dr: More things to click abroad. Hidden profiles due to inactivity now kicks in after a week.
