Easter Hunt Stats Eggsplored

Find out who topped the egg-collecting charts, how many people took part, and the number of eggs you needed to finish in the top 10% in the final Easter Egg Hunt under the current rules.
Torn's annual Easter Egg Hunt ended at noon on Monday, with 2022 being the final year in which spawned eggs are tradeable. So did this lead to an increase in the numbers taking part? And if so, did that make it easier or harder to gain the maximum number of competition tokens? Let's find out in our eggsciting roundup of the final ever Easter Egg Hunt (under these particular rules).

OVERALL STATS

A grand total of 41,428 people found eggs during this year's event, meaning that participation was up 6.8% on last year's total of 38,777 active egg-hunters. A new record egg haul was also recorded, with 251,090 eggs found this year compared to a poultry 202,689 in 2021 - the record was set in 2020 when 214,643 eggs were found.

The total number of eggs generated was also up, with Torn's population of brutally deformed hens pumping out 548,189 eggs compared to 437,535 in 2022. This means that Torn's citizens are becoming less vigilant, as this year they discovered only 45.8% of all eggs generated, compared to 49% in 2021. But what does all this mean for the sacred EGG vs YEAR graph, I hear absolutely no one asking. Let's find out.

As you can see, our sophistamacated algorithm has predicted that, based on previous trends, the number of eggs found will rise to over 270,000 in 2023, climbing gradually to 353,585 by the year 2026. If the world survives that long, and Torn's population grows in line with current trends to over 50,000 active daily citizens, we can eggspect the top 10% cutoff to rise to 38 in four years' time, when the top scorer will find 38 eggs with their radioactive, Covid-25 riddled hands.

But how many did our bestest egg guy find this year?

TOP SCORERS

Xtreme1 and the appropriately named Cuckooo have both broken the record for the most eggs found during the Easter Egg competition. For those who don't remembrane, the previous record was 28 and was set last year by -Selene-, but that total has been well and truly scrambled by our new record holders, who went albu-mental and found 32 eggs eggsactly over the course of the three-week event.

Here are the top 10 egg collectors in full.

Xtreme1 - 32

Cuckooo - 32

Wade - 30

Bonharcik - 29

littlewq - 29

theoldmen - 28

Uncensored - 28

bethink - 28

Zsandmann - 28

blacksoulfoda - 27

If you wanted to finish in the top 10% and earn the maximum of ten competition tokens, this year's cutoff was 13 eggs. Last year's total was 11, with 2020 being 13, and only 11 required in 2019. But if participation numbers increase as we eggspect, we could be looking at a minimum of 14-15 eggs needed for top 10% status in years to come.

We've eggstimated that around 9,000 players managed to collect and eggschange a full set of eggs this egg year. This is impressive, given that only 6,900 people achieved this in 2021 when the purple egg was introduced for the first time. Previously, when only nine eggs were required for a full set, the figure was much higher, with 8,750 sets eggschanged in 2020, and 6,100 in 2019. You know, back when things were nice.

THE FUTURE OF EGGS

As we mentioned in our Easter article earlier this month, this was your final opportunity to exchange a set of eggs and achieve the Good Friday honor bar when using purchased or traded eggs. Future editions of the Easter Egg Hunt will only allow eggs you have personally found to contribute to your collection, with these untradeable remaining in your inventory until used.

From 2023, the eggs you discover will no longer provide a bonus when found, with their bonuses being deployed whenever you choose to consume the egg. The exact nature of these bonuses is yet to be decided, but you can eggspect them to be similar to those in place today. Players will be able to save these bonuses for use at a time of their choosing, thus making the Easter Egg Hunt even more rewarding for those who hate beards.

As for the existing eggs, they will all be transformed into a generic Chocolate Egg candy item at some point between now and 2023's Easter Egg Hunt. We aren't sure when we'll do this, but we have made a solemn and holy promise on the Easter Bunny's grave that it won't happen before Diabetes Day. We haven't yet decided on the exact amount of happiness Chocolate Eggs will provide either, so with eggs of every colour soon to be eggstinct - including golds - you may want to avoid shelling out for more and use up your inventory as soon as you can.

That's all, yolks!
