10% extra points on offer at the Museum from today until the 19th. Point prices plunge in anticipation of increased market sales. Further drops expected in prices of points, plushies, flowers.
Torn's Points Market is set to take an almighty hit this week as thousands of players make use of the 10% bonus applied to payouts made by the Museum.

Museum Day begins at noon on the 17th and runs for exactly 48 hours, during which players will gain 10% extra points when exchanging flowers, plushies, or artifacts at the Museum. Last year, over 30 million points were paid out by the Museum during Museum Day, with this being nearly thirty times the usual figure. In fact, more points were paid out during 2021's Museum Day than during the six weeks prior!

We are expecting an even greater number of points to be dumped on the market this year thanks to Torn's continuously increasing population. And in addition to the population being larger, it is also more informed thanks to Fb24's guide to Museum Day preparation published in September 2021.
We would encourage you to bone up on that guide before making any moves in the market this Museum Day. But, if you can't be bothered to read the whole thing, or indeed any of it, here are a few brief points to consider before flying off to South Africa for a lightly soiled Lion plushie:

We would encourage you to bone up on that guide before making any moves in the market this Museum Day. But, if you can't be bothered to read the whole thing, or indeed any of it, here are a few brief points to consider before flying off to South Africa for a lightly soiled Lion plushie:
- Don't bother selling your points on the market if you can afford to hold onto them. Prices have already dropped at the time of writing, and are expected plunge towards $45k within the next 24 hours. The period just before Museum Day is the best time to sell points, with their value hitting $48.9k this year.
- If you must sell your points after the lull, sell them to the pawn shop. Yes, you'll receive slightly less than you would on the market, but you'll also avoid the many muggers who like to stalk the point listings at this time of year. Of the 31 million points generated during 2021's Museum Day, nearly 9.5 million were sold to the pawn shop, as you can see in the graph below.

- Full senet sets are far more expensive to buy up than they were last year, with roughly $109 million needed to buy up a board and all the pieces. The value of the points for exchanging a full set is much less, even with a generous point price of $46k each.
- Egyptian Amulets gain you 11,000 points on Museum Day, but they are massively overpriced on the market right now. Amulets are going for around $750 million, whereas those 11,000 points will only gain you $528 million even if you sold them at yesterday's prices of $48k per point.
- If you're short of a flower or plushie to complete a set, don't be afraid to store your haul until next year instead of paying exorbitant prices. The difference between a full set on Museum Day compared to any other day is just $45,000 when those points are exchanged, and a few miscalculated purchases can really eat into those profits.
- On the other hand, don't be too long-termist when it comes to your selling strategies. Torn's population goes up each year, as does the number of people selling points before Museum Day, so holding isn't always the best option. If you could really use those points now, a small financial hit could be worth it in the long run.
- Don't go buying up plushies or flowers that are cheaply available in nearby nations. Items in Mexico, Caymans, and Canada will take you under two hours to grab on a standard flight. And if you have the time, medium-haul flights to Hawaii, Argentina, and Europe may also be worth your while - just remember to check the foreign stock levels first!
- Most of the plushies and flowers found in Asia and Africa are more expensive than usual, but their value will tank after Museum Day. If you desperately need these items, find sellers with an excess of stock, hold your nerve, and push for a better price towards the end of the event.
- The graph below shows that most players make their exchanges within the first hour of Museum Day. This further reinforces the idea that the demand (and therefore prices) for exchangeable items will be low towards the end of Museum Day on the morning of the 19th.

- Look out for point market bargains offered by those with fast fingers and slow minds. In 2021, some geniuses accidentally sold their points for far less than the pawn shop's $45k standard, with some forgetting to add a zero.
- Don't forget to do a quick sweep of your city map before Museum Day ends. You'll be kicking yourself if you find a bunch of artifacts there on Friday morning.
tl;dr: The Museum will pay 10% extra points to anyone making exchanges between 12:00 TCT on the 17th until 12:00 TCT on the 19th.
